About L’Oréal For Young Women In Science Scholarship:
L’Oréal Scholarships for Young Women in Science’ programme was instituted by L’Oréal India in 2003 to encourage young women to pursue an education and career thereafter in science. By fostering the education of young women, the programme helps reinforce the role of women in scientific disciplines.

The scholarship programme developed under the direction of immunologist Prof. Indira Nath, Laureate of the L’ORÉAL -UNESCO Awards For Women in Science 2002 for the Asia/Pacific region, initially started with sponsoring the education of three economically challenged girls from the city of Mumbai and has now increased to sponsoring five girls from across Maharashtra.

Through the ‘L’Oréal Scholarships for Young Women in Science’ programme, L’Oréal India provides easy access to girls to pursue higher studies in science, thereby reinforcing the company’s belief that science is vital for progress and that women play a significant role in the development of the discipline.

This scholarship programme was created under the framework of the “L’ORÉAL –UNESCO For Women in Science” international partnership which aims to improve the position of women in science by recognizing outstanding women researchers who have contributed to scientific progress across five continents: Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America and North America.
