scholarships for Indian Law Students & LSAT Info

Pearson VUE, the global leader in computer–based testing for academic, professional and licensure examinations, has announced scholarships for Indian students taking the prestigious Law School Admission Test—India, by LSAC (LSAT—India). The LSAT—India, which is to be conducted across India in May by Pearson VUE, is a special version of the exam conducted globally by the Law School Admission Council (LSAC).

Jindal Global Law School (JGLS), which will be the first Law School in India to accept the LSAT—India, has announced scholarships for students applying for the three-year LL.B. programme and the five-year B.A., LL.B. programme. Each of the top five LSAT—India test scorers enrolling into either the three- or five-year programmes shall receive Rs.1 lakh.

Students entering JGLS based on the results of the LSAT—India, will also have the chance to avail a second scholarship, the Naveen Jindal Young Global Scholarship. Two scholarships of Rs. 5 lakh each shall be awarded to one student each from the three-year LL.B. programme and the five-year B.A., LL.B. programme.

The aim of the Naveen Jindal scholarship, named after the industrialist and politician, is to nurture, encourage and support young global leaders. The scholarship competition will be overseen by an independent selection group.

"JGLS is committed to promote academic excellence through its world-class teaching and training methodologies; the adoption of the LSAT—India test is a step in the same direction. We are proud to bring to young scholars scholarships that shall motivate them to aggressively tread the path of academic excellence," said Professor C. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor of O.P. Jindal Global University and Dean of Jindal Global Law School.

In addition, to find the best talent for the legal profession, Pearson VUE shall grant 50 test fee waivers for top scorers, selected by Pearson VUE. And students can also avail of 4 Pearson Law Scholarships—an amount of Rs.1 lakh per scholarship for the top scorers for LSAT—India enrolling into either the three- or five-year programmes. Speaking on the scholarship announcement, Mr. Sarvesh Shrivastava, Managing Director, APAC, Pearson VUE, said: "The Pearson Law Scholarships' aim is to encourage meritorious candidates to avail the world- class legal programmes being offered by Jindal Global Law School."

The Law School Admission Test—India, by LSAC (LSAT—India) will be launched on May 24, 2009 at test centres in 14 cities—Delhi, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Lucknow, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Bhopal, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, and Ranchi.
