The results of Common Admission Test (CAT)-2009 for eight Indian Institute of Managements (IIMs) were declared.

Besides eight IIMs, there are over 120 non-member IIM, management schools registered with CAT and use the CAT score for admitting students in the institutes.

The shortlisted candidates for various IIM's can check the list posted on the official CAT IIM sites to match their exam registrations numbers.

IIM Indore Executive Post Graduate Programme in Management (EPGP)

The Executive Post Graduate Programme in Management (EPGP) is an intensive one-year residential program exemplifying the academic rigor and progressive thinking at IIM Indore. Specially designed to enhance knowledge, skills and capabilities essential for managing and leading organizations, the programme combines skill-building with exploration of good management practices. The exposure to new perspectives, contemporary theories and approaches in management lends focus to leading in turbulent times. In addition to a comprehensive functional core module, the electives provide opportunities to specialize in Strategy, Leadership, and International Business.

The EPGP is structured to prepare executives for transformational leadership positions. During the intense one-year programme, they will work towards developing a deeper understanding of various facets of management and hone their managerial skills. The programme is spread over five academic terms. The first three terms (mostly composed of core courses) focus on laying the foundation for the specialization through a bundle of electives offered in the other terms. The last two terms are mostly electives and other experiential learning. An intervening international module provides an opportunity to develop an understanding of the global business environment and the ability to operate in a multicultural environment.

Eligibility-:
The Candidate must have
i) A Bachelor's Degree or its equivalent in any discipline.
ii) A valid CAT /GMAT score
iii) Minimum 5 years of managerial/ entrepreneurial/ professional experience after graduation.

Candidates seeking admission to the one-year EPGP programme of IIM-Indore (2010-11 batch) either have to appear in the Common Admission Test (CAT 2009) or submit their GMAT score. The GMAT score should have been obtained between Jan 1, 2007 and March 31, 2010. They will have to send in a separate application form which can be downloaded from our website www.iimidr.ac.in. A separate advertisement will be released in due course indicating the date from which the application form will be available on the website.

The completed application form along with the processing fee should reach IIM Indore on or before 20th April, 2010. The application processing fee is Rs. 3500/- for resident Indians and U.S. $ 110/- for other nationals and non-resident Indians. Please enclose a D/D for the application-processing fee drawn in favour of IIM Indore payable at Indore along with the application.

Candidates applying through CAT 2009 have to mention their CAT Application Form number in the EPGP Application form. Candidates applying through GMAT have to submit their GMAT score along with the EPGP Application form.

ELIGIBILITY TO APPEAR IN SEE-UPTU:2010-:
1. For admission to first year of B.Tech./B.Pharm./BHMCT/BFAD candidate must have passed intermediate examination of U.P. Board or 10+2 level examination or its equivalent from any recognized Board / University as given in Information brochure of SEE-UPTU:2010. The candidate is essentially required to pass in each subject of the qualifying subject group.

2. For admission to first year of B. Arch., a candidate must have passed intermediate examination of U. P. Board or 10+2 level examination or its equivalent from any recognized Board / University; securing minimum 50% marks in aggregate in compulsory and optional subject as given in Information Brochure of SEE-UPTU 2010. The candidate is essentially required to pass in each subject of the qualifying subject group. A candidate possessing three year Diploma in Architecture (10+3) recognized by Central/State Govt., is also eligible for admission to first year of B.Arch. only, provided the candidate has passed the Diploma examination securing minimum 50% marks in aggregate. Such candidates will have to appear in the entrance examination for first year of B. Arch, papers (paper 2 & 6) as mentioned above.

3. For admission to first year of MBA, candidate must have passed three years degree course from any recognized university.

4. For admission to first year of MCA, candidate must have passed three year degree course from any recognized university with Mathematics at 10+2 level or at bachelor Degree level.

5. For admission to second year (lateral entry) of B.Tech., the candidate must have passed three years Diploma in Engineering course; securing minimum 60% marks in aggregate or three years B.Sc. degree with Mathematics as one subject; securing minimum 60% marks in aggregate as per details provided in the brochure.

6. For admission to second year (lateral entry) of B.Pharm., the candidate must have passed Diploma in Pharmacy course; securing minimum 60% marks in aggregate.

7. The candidates appearing in the qualifying examination are also eligible to appear in State Entrance Examination-2010 subject to the condition that they must fulfill the eligibility criteria at the time of counselling.

8. The details of admissions for NRI and Kashmiri migrants will be published later, in the month of May, 2010 according to the norms to be laid down by the Govt, of U.P. /AICTE. Such candidates need not appearing-UPTU:2010

9. State Govt, has permitted 10% of total sanctioned seats available in Private Institutions to be filled on merit by All India Level Candidates subject to the eligibility conditions given in the brochure through University counseling under the policy of State Govt, of U.P.

10.This admission test is open to the candidates who have passed the qualifying examination from any institution located in U.P. or whose parents (Father or Mother) are domiciles of U.P. AND 10% seats of All India level candidates as provided in SI. No. 9 above.

BEST-India 2010 Biotechnology Entrepreneurship

BEST-India (Biotechnology Entrepreneurship Student Teams) is aimed at encouraging young postgraduate and doctoral students in developing biotechnology entrepreneurship and exposing them to issues involved in commercialization of bio-science.

BEST is sponsored by the Department of Biotechnology (www.dbtindia.nic.in), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India and is administered by ABLE - India (www.ableindia.org)

Eligibility-:
Applicants must be students who are pursuing their masters, doctoral degree, BE or B Tech courses in the area of life sciences (bioscience / biotechnology and/or related subjects) from Indian universities / Institutes.

Students of the above disciplines who have completed their courses not earlier than April 2009 can also participate.

The applicants should form a team of 5 students and nominate a team leader. The individual team members may or may not be from the same Institute/University. One third of the team members can be from disciplines other than life sciences.

Teams who have participated in BEST 2009 can also take part but with a different concept idea.

Each team will submit only one entry.

Stanford-India Biodesign Internship Program 2010

The goal of Stanford-India Biodesign is to train the next generation of medical technology innovators in India. This highly competitive program is directed towards Indian citizens who have an interest in the invention and early-stage development of new medical technologies. Successful applicants will have advanced degrees and/or significant work experience. University faculty are strongly encouraged to apply.

Funded by the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, Stanford University, and other supporters, the SIB Fellowship Program is centered in New Delhi and administered as a collaboration between Stanford University, the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in partnership with the Indo-US Science & Technology Forum (IUSSTF). In future years, the fellowship and associated teaching programs will be developed in other centers in India.
Fellows receive tuition, stipend, and international travel support (for trips required for the fellowship.) During the fellowship, approximately half of the fellows’ time is spent in India, and the other half at Stanford University. Fellows work on a multidisciplinary team joining other innovators with a combination of engineering, medical and business backgrounds.

The International Fulbright Science and Technology Award reaffirms America's pre-eminence and competitiveness in the fields of science, technology, and engineering, as the U.S. remains the most attractive destination for serious scientific and technological research and study.

The International Fulbright Science and Technology Award is for PhD study at top U.S. institutions in science, technology, or engineering beginning August/September 2011. The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State will fund grants for up to three years under this program. After three years, U.S. universities will cover the remaining expenses toward completion of a PhD. Academic placement (university admission and other formalities) of the selected scholars will be handled by the Institute of International Education (IIE). Fellows will travel to the U.S. on J-1 visas and will be subject to J-visa regulations.

In the fifth year of this program, approximately 45 awards will be offered worldwide for candidates who demonstrate unique aptitude and innovation in scientific fields. Indian Institute of Science-IISc offers exciting opportunities to motivated and talented Bachelor’s degree holders with a keen sense of scientific enquiry for pursuing advanced research in frontier areas of Biological, Chemical, Physical and Mathematical Sciences leading to a Ph D degree. Experience shows that students entering this program save nearly a year compared to those who go for a 2 years Master's degree program elsewhere and then join the Institute for a Ph D program. Each year, the Institute admits 42 students (12 in Biological Sciences, 12 in Chemical Sciences, 10 in Physical Sciences and 8 in Mathematical Sciences) under this program. The program consists of flexible course work, an internship-type laboratory training (wherein ample opportunities exist for the candidate to acquire basic experimental skills and familiarity with advanced techniques for research), a research project to demonstrate attainment of a high degree of scientific ability followed by advanced research leading to a Ph D thesis on a specific topic.

Eligibility-:
Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology/ Chemistry/Physics/Mathematics under the 10+2+3 system are eligible to apply for admission to the Integrated Ph D program. Candidates with BE/B Tech are eligible to apply to the Mathematical Sciences.

Additional notes-:
(a) The minimum requirement for admission to the Integrated Ph D program is a FIRST CLASS or and equivalent Grade for the Bachelor’s degree (as declared by the University) as indicated against each department. Refer to Section 3.3 for more details.
(b) The minimum requirement of FIRST CLASS in the qualifying examination is relaxed to PASS CLASS for SC/ST candidates.
(c) Some departments have specific requirements of subjects at the Bachelor’s or 10+2 levels as indicated in Section 3.3. Candidates have to ensure that they meet these requirements and this should be clearly reflected in the Academic profile of the Application Form which is to be enclosed with the data sheet.
(d) Those in the final year of their qualifying examination and awaiting results are also eligible to apply. However, they should have completed all the requirements for the award of the qualifying degree, including all examinations, dissertation projects, viva-voce, etc., by the time of joining, i.e., by the 29th of July 2010.

Notes:
1. Students with B.Tech. background will be given preference over students with M.Sc. background, even with an M.Tech. degree, for selection as Research Scholars in Engineering Disciplines.
2. Students with any other relevant background can be eligible with approval of Senate or Chairman, Senate on the recommendation of the DAC (PG & R).
3. Science students admitted to Ph.D. programme in Engineering need Mathematics in +3 level. Students without Mathematics in +3 level may be admitted under the condition that they will have to register for 16 credits of 100 and 200 level Mathematics & Computer Science courses (Theory and Practical) in addition to their normal course requirement, and secure at least C grade in each course.

Notes:
1. There is no relaxation in academic requirement for SC/ST/OBC/Handicapped students.
2. Students of one discipline may seek admission in a related department which will be considered on the basis of merit of the case. Selection will be made on the basis of academic record, relevance of qualification, candidate’s research interest, existing research programmes and facilities of the departments, and performance in tests and/or interviews.

Sponsored/Local Sponsored candidates:
The Institute welcomes candidates from reputed academic and R & D Institutions, as well as from Government organisations and Industry. The criteria for selection are different for each of these programs.

Srishti offers a two-year Foundation Studies Program for candidates who have passed 12th Standard (Plus Two).

Srishti offers undergraduate Professional Diploma Programs to students who have successfully completed the Srishti Foundation Studies Program and also welcomes Direct Entry students who have completed the equivalent of Srishti's Foundation Studies Program elsewhere, or are graduates from other art and design schools, or have professional work experience and an interest in art and design education.

Srishti offers postgraduate Advance Diploma Programs under the aegis of its two research centres - Centre for Experimental Media Arts (CEMA) and Centre for Educational Research Training and Development (CERTAD) to experienced professionals and graduates from any discipline who can prove their keen interest in the sphere of art and design education by means of a portfolio.

ICMR International Fellowships 2010

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) ICMR International Fellowships 2010 for Indian biomedical scientists

Number of fellowships: Young scientists-12; Senior scientists-6
Duration: 3-6 months for young scientists and 10-15 days for senior scientists

Eligibility:
* M.D/PhD degree with at least three years teaching/research experience for young scientists and at least fifteen years teaching/research experience for senior scientists.
* Regular position in a recognized biomedical/research/health institution in India .
* Below 45 years of age for young and 55 years for senior scientists.

Financial support:
US $ 2400 per month, contingency grant of Rs.15,000/- and return economy class air ticket (excursion airfare) for young scientists. US $ 160 per day (including US$ 75 as per diem and rest for accommodation expenses) and return economy class air ticket (excursion airfare) for senior scientists.

Note:- The applicant should submit a letter of acceptance from the foreign Institute where he/ she proposes to work along with a concrete plan of training / research work to be undertaken during the fellowship.
* Recommendation by the Head of the parent organization / institute is essential.
* Incomplete applications will not be entertained.
* Decision of ICMR will be final.
* If selected, the fellowship is to be availed before 28th February, 2011.

Selection Criteria
Screening of applications will be done at the International Health Division, ICMR and the short listed candidates will be considered by the selection committee for awarding the fellowship.

The selection of the candidate will be based on the evaluation of the merit of the candidate and the training needs in the field of Biomedical research by a Committee of eminent scientists.

Pharma, Chemical Technology, OR M.Sc. in Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics, Biophysics, Microbial Genetics and Bioinformatics. (For Anna University: Candidates with B.Tech/B.E in Electrochemistry, Bioengineering and M.Sc. in Chemistry & Physics are also eligible. For West Bengal University of Technology : Candidates with M.Sc. in Bioengineering are also eligible. For Cochin University of Science and Technology: Candidates with M.Sc in Marine Biotechnology, Marine Biology/Aquatic Biology & Fisheries, Environmental Biotechnology are also eligible.).

Entrance Examination for AIIMS -M.B.B.S. Admissions commencing on 1st August, 2010.

Eligibility Criteria-:
(i) Candidates who have passed 12th class examination under 10+2 system or an equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English securing a minimum of 60% marks (50% in case of Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe
candidates) aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English or whose results of Class-XII are likely to be declared by 7th July, 2010 are eligible to apply.
(ii) The candidate should have attained the age of 17 (seventeen) years as on 31st December, 2010.

The Prospectus-cum-Application Form costing Rs. 1000/- (Rs.800/- in case of SC/ST candidates) inclusive of examination fee can be obtained in the following manner:
