CAT 2017 ELIGIBILITY
The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA [45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons With Disability (PWD) categories], awarded by any University or educational institution as incorporated by an Act of the Parliament or State legislature in India or declared to be deemed as a
University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD,Government of India. The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate would be calculated based on the practice as followed by the respective University/Institution. In case of grades / CGPA, the conversion to percentage of marks would be based on the procedure as certified by the respective University/ institution. If any University/institution confirms that there
is no scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by dividing the candidate’s CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA, and multiplying the result with 100.

Candidates appearing for the final year of Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply.

However, it may be noted that such candidates, if selected, will be allowed to join the programme provisionally, only if they submit a certificate from the Principal / Registrar of their University/institution (issued on or before the date as stipulated by the respective IIM) stating that they have completed all the requirements for obtaining the Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification on the date of the issue of the certificate. IIMs may verify eligibility at various stages of the selection process

Candidates should note that the mere fulfillment of minimum eligibility criteria will not ensure consideration for shortlisting by IIMs

CAT 2017 Application Form Fee

The application fee is Rs. 1800 for General category candidates and Rs. 900 for reserved category candidates.

The mode of application fee payment is through Credit/Debit Card or Net Banking.

The application fee has increased from Rs. 1700 for General and NC-OBC candidates and Rs. 850 for SC, ST and PWD candidates.

The registration window opens on 9th August,2017 and will close at 5:00 p.m. on 20th September,2017. The details will be
available in the registration guide.

At the time of registration, the candidates have to select any four Test Cities as per their preference from the drop down menu. After the last date of registration, candidates will be allotted one among the 4 preferred cities and either of the two sessions. In the rare case that a candidate is not allotted any of the preferred cities, he/she will be allotted a nearby city. The candidates can download the admit cards from 18th October,2017 till 26th November,2017

NEET 2017: 69 Medical Colleges cannot give MBBS Admission

With medical admission under National Entrance-cum-Eligibility Test (NEET) 2017 are undergoing, the Medical Council of India (MCI) has recently released a notice where it has listed out named of colleges that have been debarred from giving Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) admissions to students.

It has come to the notice of Medical Council of India that certain unscrupulous elements are misleading students by alluring them that they would get them admitted in MBBS course in Medical Colleges. In this regard, it is brought to the notice of all concerned that admissions for MBBS in all Medical Colleges falling within the purview of Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 for the academic year 2017-18 has to be through the common counseling."

Further, the counseling would be conducted by the following authorities only:

The Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India for 15 per cent All India Quota seats in government medical colleges of the contributing states and for All MBBS seats in medical colleges run by deemed universities

The Designated Authority of the State/ Union Territory Government in respect of MBBS seats in government medical colleges and non-governmental medical colleges

Moreover, by way of this advisory all candidates interested in taking admission in medical colleges should check the status regarding grant of permission by the Central Government to the colleges from the website of Medical Council of India (https://www.mciindia.org/) and only after verifying the status of the permission should proceed to take admission, the official notice read.

According to MCI, all the candidates can check the list of medical colleges that have not been granted permission by the Medical Council of India/Central Government for admitting students in MBBS for academic year 2017-18 and 2018 -19

KVPY Fellowship 2017 Application Process

KVPY 2017 Application Form has been released from 16th July 2017. Kishore Viagyanik Protsahan Yojna (KVPY) is a national level fellowship programme. KVPY is managed by the Indian Institute of Science. This programme is started by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India in 1999. In this article, we are providing the detailed information related to the KVPY Application Form 2017.

The Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, offers attractive fellows hips (Rs.5.000/- Rs.7,000/- p.m.) and contingency grants (equivalent to four months fellowship per annum) to students studying in 1st year program in Basic Science Course such as B.Sc./B.S./B. Stat/B.Math./Int M.Sc./Int MS. Selection to the program takes into account the academic excellence and skills to take up research career in Basic Sciences.


Eligibility for Stream SA: Students enrolled in XI Standard (Science Subjects) during the academic year 2017-18 and have secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST &PWD)marks in aggregate it MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects in the X Standard Board Examination are eligible to appear for the aptitude test. The fellowship of the students selected under this stream will be activated only if they join for an undergraduate course in Basic Science (B.Sc./B.S./B. Stat/B.Math./Int M.Sc./Int MS) in the academic year 2019-20 and having seared a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST PWD)marks in aggregate in Science Subjects in the XII Standard (4+2) Board Examination. During the interim period of one year they will be Invited for National Science (Vijyoshi)Camp and thee travel expenses and local hospitality will be met by KVPY.


Eligibility for Stream SX: Students enrolled in XII Standard (Science Subjects) during the academic year 2017-18 and aspiring to join undergraduate program in Basic Science (B.Sc./B.S./B. Stat/B.Math./Int M.Sc./Int MS) for the session 2018-19 during the academic year having secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST 8 PWD) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects in the X Standard Board Examination are eligible to appear for the aptitude test. The fellowship of the students selected under this stream*, be activated only if they join for an undergraduate mane in Basic Science (B.Sc./B.S./B. Stat/B.Math./Int M.Sc./Int MS) in the academic year 2018-19 after having seared a minimum of 60% (50%forSC/ST PWD) marks in aggregate in SCIENCE Subjects in the XII Standard (+2 Board Exam).

Eligibility for Stream SB: Students enrolled in the 1st year of (B.Sc./B.S./B. Stat/B.Math./Int M.Sc./Int MS during the academic year 2017-18 and have seared a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in SCIENCE subjects both in the XII Standard (+2) Board Examination and Ist year of B.Sc./B.S./B. Stat/B.Math./Int M.Sc./Int MS are eligible to appear for the aptitude test.
Empowerment initiative in the KVPY Fellowship Program: I For students belong to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe:- A certain number of fellowships exclusively for the meritorious SC/ST students under the various streams as stated above will be operated.
Empowerment initiative for Persons With Disabilities:- A certain number of fellowships under various streams as stated above will be operated for deserving Persons With Disabilities-Physically and Visually challenged students.

Goldman Sachs provides $75,000 funding to Educate Girls

Non-profit organisation Educate Girls has received a grant of USD 75,000 (about Rs 48.26 lakh) from leading global brokerage firm Goldman Sachs.

Educate Girls secured the funding as a team of analysts from the Bengaluru office of Goldman Sachs came at the second place in the "2017 Goldman Sachs Gives Global Analyst Impact Fund" competition.

The first place went to Kiron Open Higher Education, which is a Berlin-based non-profit which connects refugees to content, mentoring, and accreditation needed to achieve higher education.

The annual Analyst Impact Fund is an initiative that provides Goldman Sachs employees with the opportunity to collaborate with peers from across global offices to win a grant for a non-profit organisation of their choice and impact the communities where they live and work.

The funding comes from Goldman Sachs Gives, a donor- advised fund through which the investment bank and its current and retired senior employees provide grants to qualifying non- profit organisations globally.

Educate Girls is a Mumbai-based non-profit organisation that works towards improving enrolment, retention and learning outcomes for girls in some of the most rural and marginalised communities in India.

Pre Matric Scholarships Scheme for Minorities 2017

The Prime Minister’s New 15 Point Programme for the Welfare of Minorities was announced in June, 2006. It provides that a pre
-matric scholarship scheme for meritorious students from minority communities would be implemented.

OBJECTIVE :
The scholarship at pre-matric level will encourage parents from minority communities to send their school going children to school, lighten their financial burden on school education and sustain their efforts to support their children to complete school education.
The scheme will form the foundation for their educational attainment and provide a level playing field in the competitive employment arena. Empowerment through education, which is one of the objectives of this scheme, has the potential to lead to upliftment of the socio economic conditions of the minority communities.

SCOPE :
The scholarship will be awarded for studies in India in a government or private school from class I to class X, including such residential Government institutes and eligible private institutes selected and notified in a transparent manner by the State Government and Union Territory Administration concerned.

ELIGIBILITY :
Scholarship will be awarded to the students who have secured not less than 50% marks in the previous final examination and annual income of their parents/guardian from all sources does not exceed Rs. 1 lakh.

DISTRIBUTION :
Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Jains and Zoro astrians (Parsis) have been notified as minority communities under Section 2 (c) of the National Commission for Minorities Act,1992. The distribution of scholarship among the States/Union Territories will be made on the basis of population of minorities in the States/Union Territories of Census 2001.(*This would be changed when figures of 2011 Census is available).

EARMARKING FOR GIRL STUDENTS :
30% of scholarship will be earmarked for girl students. In case sufficient number of eligible girl students are not available, then the balance earmarked scholarships may be awarded to eligible boy students.

SELECTION :
As the number of scholarships for minorities available in a year is fixed and limited it is necessary to lay down preference for selection. Inter-se selection weightage is to be given to poverty rather than marks. In case of the renewal applications, such applications would be fully exhausted before the new applications are considered.

DURATION :
The scholarships will be provided for the entire course. Maintenance allowance will be given for 10 months only in an academic year.

About the Program

Under its School of Education (SOE) Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) offers 2 years B.Ed. Course as a Distance Mode

The Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) Programme of IGNOU aims at developing the understanding and competencies required by teachers for effective teaching-learning process at the secondary stage

The Programme also provides opportunities of sharing experiences gained by teachers. It enables teachers to select and organise learning experiences according to the requirement of learners

In addition, it provides knowledge and develops in them an understanding of areas such as educational evaluation, school management, etc.

The Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) Programme is offered in English and Hindi medium


Eligibility Criteria :

Candidates should have possessed following eligibility criteria defined by IGNOU for B.Ed. Program:

Candidates with at least fifty (55) percent marks either in the Bachelor’s Degree and/or in the Master’s Degree in Sciences/Social Sciences/Commerce/Humanity, Bachelor’s in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks or any other qualification equivalent thereto, are eligible for admission to the programme (and);


The following categories are eligible to be the students of B.Ed. (ODL):

(i) Trained in-service teachers in elementary education (Or);

(ii) Candidates who have completed a NCTE recognized teacher education programme through face-to-face mode

The reservation and relaxation of 5% marks in minimum eligibility will be provided to SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layer)/PWD candidates as per the rules of the Central Govt.

Reservation to Kashmiri Migrants and war widow candidates will be provided as per the University Rules

Master's’ Degree awarded without a first degree is not accepted for purpose of Academic Studies in IGNOU

Admission shall be done on the basis of the score obtained in the entrance test conducted by IGNOU all over India. The candidate will be required to submit the filled-in application form with attested copy of documents as specified in Entrance-cum-Admission Form. The original documents are to be submitted later after receiving offer letter for admission

The final admission to the program shall be subject to their rank in the merit list in the Entrance Test and production of proof of their eligibility at the time of last date of submission of application for admission to B.Ed. programme alongwith original certificates and programme fee

The number of seats of each PSC is limited to 50 only. The university reserves the right to conduct the examination at different centres/change the examination centre of the candidates without assigning any reason thereof

Program Fee is Rs. 50,000/- for the entire Program. Candidates seeking admission to the B.Ed. programme are advised not to pay the fee along with the filled in application form. They will get a separate communication about their admission and payment of Fee

Reservation :

The University provides reservation of seats for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Non-creamy layer of OBC, War Widows, Kashmiri Migrants and Physically Handicapped learners, as per the Government of India rules, for admission to its various programmes

Admit Card :

We will update the exact date of IGNOU B.Ed. entrance test 2018 only after the release of its official notification. Candidates can obtain their admit card online via visiting the official website of university

Your admit card is an important document to appear in the test. Candidates without a valid admit card will not be allowed to write in the exam

Availability of Student Handbook & Prospectus :

Student Handbook and Prospectus for Management Programme, B.Ed. Application Form and Prospectus can also be downloaded from the website www.ignou.ac.in

The candidates will be required to submit only the filled-in application form with all attested documents as mentioned in the Entrance cum Admission Form at the concerned Regional Centre alongwith Demand Draft of Rs.1000/- as application fee in favour of IGNOU payable at the concerned Regional Centre

Last Date for Submission of Application Form: 15th July 2017

Date of Entrance Test : 20th August 2017 (Sunday)
