Literature in English (by Indians) should be awarded as well, as Rabindranath Tagore himself sometimes wrote in English.
I donot understand why other Indian languages are not taken in to consideration. An ignorance to the languages like malayalam, oriya, assamese & tamil etc is not a justice to Indian Literature. These languages have notable contributions to the modern Indian Literature. Sahitya Akademi being a national academy of letters should take care of this issue. In my opinion the best 08 numbers of works from total 24 languages should be taken in to consideration.
