The Wellcome Trust/DBT India Alliance launches a new fellowship scheme

Margdarshi Fellowship is an opportunity for outstanding established biomedical scientist in India or overseas to relocate to a non-profit research organisation in India

This scheme is to encourage established scientist to nucleate new centers of research in India

The Margdarshi Fellowship is for five years, and provides large and flexible funding for consumables,equipment,staff,travel to meeting and collaborative visits

To Apply-:
This scheme is for outstanding researchers and is expected to be fiercely competitive. Applicants are encouraged to contact the Office at margdarshi@wellcomedbt.org with their CV and relocation plans to be advised of their suitability for the Fellowship.

To apply, please download the application form and email a PDF copy of the complete form to margdarshi@wellcomedbt.org by the published deadline. The Sponsor has to complete and email their form to margdarshi@wellcomedbt.org. Hard copies of either form are not necessary. Please note that the Sponsor form has to come directly from the Sponsor and not from the applicant. A breach of confidentiality on this matter will disqualify the applicant.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) ICMR International Fellowships 2011

ICMR International Fellowships for Indian biomedical scientists

Number of fellowships: Young scientists-12; Senior scientists-6

Duration: 3-6 months for young scientists and 10-15 days for senior scientists

Eligibility:
* M.D/PhD degree with at least three years teaching/research experience for young scientists and at least fifteen years teaching/research experience for senior scientists.
* Regular position in a recognized biomedical/research/health institution in India .
* Below 45 years of age for young and 55 years for senior scientists.

Financial support:
US $ 2400 per month, contingency grant of Rs.15,000/- and return economy class air ticket (excursion airfare) for young scientists. US $ 160 per day (including US$ 75 as per diem and rest for accommodation expenses) and return economy class air ticket (excursion airfare) for senior scientists.

Note:- The applicant should submit a letter of acceptance from the foreign Institute where he/ she proposes to work along with a concrete plan of training / research work to be undertaken during the fellowship.
* Recommendation by the Head of the parent organization / institute is essential.
* Incomplete applications will not be entertained.
* Decision of ICMR will be final.
* If selected, the fellowship is to be availed before 28th February, 2012.

Selection Criteria
Screening of applications will be done at the International Health Division, ICMR and the short listed candidates will be considered by the selection committee for awarding the fellowship.

The selection of the candidate will be based on the evaluation of the merit of the candidate and the training needs in the field of Biomedical research by a Committee of eminent scientists.
