Postgraduate Diploma in Disaster Management (PGDDM)Admissions 2009

Programme Objectives:
The major objectives of the programme are to:
• Provide comprehensive knowledge to the learners on disaster preparedness, mitigation
and rehabilitation.
• Enable the learners to carry out risk assessment and vulnerability analysis.
• Generate community awareness, and strengthen institutional mechanism for
community mobilization and participation in disaster management.
• Develop communication skills for disaster preparedness.
• Create greater awareness about effective disaster response in various emergency
situations.
• Equip learners with tools for meeting emergency medical requirements.
• Incorporate gender sensitive disaster management approach; and
• Include new skills and sharpen existing skills of government officials, voluntary activists,
development.
• Trend professionals and elected representatives for effective disaster management.
Target Group:
The Post Graduate Diploma in Disaster Management shall cater to the needs of the
following target groups:
• Student Community
• Government functionaries
• NGO functionaries and Volunteers
• Military, Para‐military, Police, Home Guards, and Civil Defense personnel
• Geologists, Scientists, Meteorologists, Engineers, Administrators, and other Government
and Public Sector Undertakings officials
• Rural Development Functionaries, Primary Health Centers Functionaries, Relief Workers,
Social Workers, Environmentalists, etc. and
• All those who may fulfill the basic eligibility requirement.

Admission Criteria: Graduates in any discipline.
Intake Capacity: 20 students.

Admission Procedure
The entrance test will be conducted by the faculty for admission to the course. Syllabus for the test shall be of general aptitude. The admissions will be given entirely on the basis of merit of the candidate’s performance in the entrance test. Admission to the course will be confirmed only after paying the necessary fees. Fee once paid will not be refunded.

To Apply-:
The application form, complete in all respects along with crossed demand draft for Rs. 100/ (One Hundred only) drawn in favor of “Director, Self Finance Course: P. G. Diploma in Disaster Management” payable at Vadodara, should be submitted in an envelope marked “P. G.Diploma in Disaster Management” in the Office of The Faculty of Science, the M. S. University of Baroda, Lokmanya Tilak Road, Vadodara – 390 002 latest by June 30, 2009. Payment by Money Orders, Postal Orders, cheque and cash will not be accepted.
The Entrance Test for admission to P. G. Diploma in Disaster Management will be held at 10.00 am on Saturday the 04th July 2009 in the Department of Geology. The syllabus for the test shall be of general aptitude.
