K.J.Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research is offering a post
Graduate Diploma Program in Retail Management. This unique educational experience sets new levels of quality, qualified faculty, company-related study projects in convenient learning conditions.
The PGDM-RM program offers a tool for broadening the experience and knowledge for high potential managers for the retailing sector, and also from related business areas, by preparing them for increased responsibilities and enabling them to better deal with today’s dynamic retail environment. The seminars and classes expose participants to retail and business practices. Project assignments and group work provide insights and practical solutions to issues and problems facing retail firms.
The PGDM - RM program facilitates an engaging learning environment through the
interaction of experienced managers and outstanding instructors. Participants are expected to commit to active learning practices stimulated by the dynamic nature of class discussions and group projects.
The two year program will award participants with PGDM (RETAIL MANAGEMENT) degree
from SIMSR after the successful completion of the term.
The Retail Management course empowers the participants with all the aspects of retail which includes Supply Chain Management, Category and Brand Management, Merchandise Management, Retail Finance Management, Enterprise Resource Planning and Store Operations. They also learn about Integrated Marketing Communication, Inventory
Management, Customer Relationship Management, Retail Brand Management, Mall
Management and Organizational Behavior, Quantitative Methods in retailing along with from other General Management subjects
During the program participants will complete two month summer project and a master
project in the last trimester of study that will enable them to apply their academic inputs to issues and problems confronting their work environment in the retail sector.
The preparation of assignments, the group projects and the thesis are closely supervised and coached by the faculty. Students are encouraged to select project and thesis topics that relate to important issues confronting their chosen firms of internship. Retail Management program prepares aspirants to take on any role in the Retailing Industry.

website filled and submitted online.
· Candidates should take a printout of the form, affix their latest passport
size photograph, attach photocopies of work experience certificates,
enclose a demand draft of Rs. 1550 / - ( Rs. One Thousand Five Hundred
and Fifty Only) in favor of SIMSR, payable at Mumbai / payment can be
made through Credit Card.
· Mail the application form by courier to “ The Admissions Officer, K.J.
Somaiya Institute of Management Studies & Research, Vidyavihar,
Mumbai – 400 077 ”.
· The envelope should be super scribed with “ Application for Admission to
PGDM – Retail Management, Batch 2009-2011 ”.
· Last date of submission of online application form is 15th May 2008
Admission Test: The Institute will use Somaiya Admission Test (SAT) scores
as the first stage of admission process which will be conducted on Friday, 22nd
May 2009. Short listed candidate will be called for Written Communication Test,
