Indira Gandhi Institute of Development and Research (IGIDR), admission 2015 session.

The institute is inviting applications for admission to master of philosophy and doctor of philosophy programmes.

Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR) invites applications for admission to the following programmes:

* M.Sc. (Economics)
* M.Phil./Ph.D. (Development Studies)

M.Phil./Ph.D. students receive a monthly stipend of Rs.17,000/- in the first two years. Those students, who fulfill the terms and conditions for Ph.D. registration, would receive a monthly stipend of Rs.26,000/- after Ph. D. registration in the third year.

Eligibility Criteria :
The applicants need to possess one of the following degrees:
MA/Msc in economics/M.stat/M.sc/MBA/M.tech/ME/BE/B.tch with an aggregate of 55 per cent for applicants who had economics and 60 per cent for others.
Mathematics is mandatory for higher level.

Applicants can apply online through the official website.
All the relevant testimonials need to be scanned properly and uploaded with the application form before or on March 20.

Applicants from general category need to pay Rs 500 for the online application form.
The application form for sc/st costs only Rs 100.

Candidates will have to clear online test that is scheduled for April 26. The short listed candidates will further be interviewed at the institution in Mumbai in the third or fourth week of June.

The online exam will have questions that will emphasise on general aptitude, analytical ability and mathematical skills.

Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research- IGIDR invites applications for admission to the following programmes:

MSc. (Economics): This is a two-year programme commencing in August 2014.

Eligibility: Minimum qualification for admission to M.Sc. programme include one of the following degrees or their equivalents: B.A./B.Sc. in Economics/B.Com/B.Stat/B.Sc. (Physics or Mathematics)/B.Tech/B.E. with at least a second division for Economics discipline and first division for other dis cipline s. The applicant must have studied mathematics at the higher secondary or higher level Need-based scholarships are available to Masters students as per Institute’s norms.

MPhil./PhD. (Development Studies): These are interdisciplinary programmes commencing in August 2014. The duration of M.Phil pro gramme is two years and that ofPhD. programme is four years.

Eligibility: Minimum qualification for admission to the M.Phi and PhD. Programme include one of the following degrees or tlieir equivalents: M.A./M.Sc in Economics/M.Stat./M.Sc. (Physics or Mathematics or Environmental Science or Operations Research)/M.B.A./M.Tech/M.E./B.Tech/B.E. with at least 55% aggregate marks for Economics dis cipline and 60% aggregate marks for other disciplines. The applicant must have studied mathematics at the higher secondary or higher level

Selection Procedure: All candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in a Online test and an interview. The Online test will be held on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at the following centres: Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Chandigarh, Bangalore, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, NCR (Delhi), and Thiruvananthapuram.

In Person/Post: Application forms and prospectus may be obtained in person from the Institute Students’ Office on a working day (Monday to Friday, 9.15 a.m. to 5.45 p.m.) by paying the application fee. Alternatively, a request may be sent by post to the Student Office mentioning the candidate’s name, date of birth, gender, address, academic qualifications and choice of test centre.

The application fee ofRs.500/- (non-refundable) must be paid by Demand Draft favouring Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR) payable at Mumbai and can be sent by post to the Students Office, IGIDR, Gen A.K. Vaidya Marg, Santosh Nagar, Goregaon (East), Mumbai400 065 (E-mail: soffice@igidr.ac.iri).

Application form can also be downloaded directly from the IGIDR website filled and sent back with the requisite application fee by Demand Draft as mentioned above.

Online: Candidates can fill the application form online available at IGIDR website. The online application fee is Rs. 300/- only.

Eligibility-:
(a) Minimum qualification: M.A./M.Sc in Economics/M.Stat./M.Sc. (Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Environmental Science or Operations Research)/M.B.A./M.Tech./M.E./ B.Tech./B.E. or equivalent with at least 55% aggregate marks for Economics discipline and 60% aggregate marks for other disciplines. The applicant must have studied Mathematics at the higher secondary level or should be able to demonstrate equivalent mathematical ability.

(b) The applicants ought to have a minimum of three years of work experience and they need to apply with the 'No Objection Certificate' along with leave authorization on the official letterhead of the Organization duly signed by the authorized official of the Organization. (c) Applicants be preferably below 45 years of age; it can be relaxed in case of exceptional candidates.

Candidates should apply not later than April 30, 2010 with (a) their current curriculum vita, (b) two, passport size photographs, (c) two reference letters (in sealed envelopes and on official letterheads of the issuing authority), (d) No objection Certificate along with leave authorization on the official letterhead of the Organization duly signed by the authorized official of the Organization. (e) a self certified original research proposal not exceeding 3000 words, (f) research publications (if any) and (g) a bank draft of Rs. 200 (non-refundable) payable to Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR) at Mumbai to the "Admissions Office, IGIDR, Gen. A.K. Vaidya Marg, Santosh Nagar, Goregaon (East), Mumbai 400 065 (E-mail: soffice@igidr.ac.in)". Payment in any other form will not be accepted. Application envelopes have to be marked as "Application for External Ph.D. Program".
