National Programme on Technology enhanced Learning-NPTEL Online Courses in Engineering, Science and Humanities streams
A Joint Initiative of IITs and IISc
NPTEL provides E-learning through online Web and Video courses in Engineering, Science and humanities streams. The mission of NPTEL is to enhance the quality of Engineering education in the country by providing free online courseware.
Over 600 courses were available online. The course videos are available in streaming mode, and may also be downloaded for viewing offline. The video files are also view-able via the IIT Channel in Youtube.
IITs and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) have worked together to develop web and video based material for basic undergraduate science and engineering courses in order to enhance the reach and quality of technical education in India.

IGNOU Online PGDEL Admissions 2012
Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) offers the Online Post Graduate Diploma in E-Learning (PGDEL) from January 2012 through its Staff Training and Research Institute of Distance Education (STRIDE). The objectives of the programme are to develop humanresource capabilities in planning, designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating elearning programmes. The programme consists of five courses with a total credit weight of 24credits, including a Project Work of 8 credits.
Programme Highlights
• Blended learning with compulsory face to-face practical at the Headquarters
• Intensive online training to develop elearning professionals
• Strong project work component to facilitate hands on work in online learning tools
• Personalized online student support
• Use of Open Educational Resources (OERs) and recommended texts
• Use of Moodle Learning Management System
• Use of ePortfolio for student progress
• Use of Synchronous delivery methods using online conferencing tools
• Extensive use of discussion forums for both academic and personal support
• Innovative assessment mechanisms
• Online programme with flexible exitroute
Target Groups
The programme aims at developing competencies in design, development, implementation and management of online programmes at all levels of education, including corporate training.
Thus, the target group of the programme includes teachers, trainers, training managers,instructional designers, and course developers in schools, colleges, universities, and business and industry.
Eligibility: The eligibility for PGDEL is graduation in any discipline. Preference shall be given to higher degree holders. See Programme Details in the website.
Programme Fees: Rs. 15, 000/- to be paid at the time of admission. Registration Fee of Rs. 100/- shall be applicable at the time of submission of application.
