INSA Medal for Young Scientists with the aim of recognizing young scientists of extraordinary promise and creativity who have made notable research contributions in Science and Technology. This award, considered to be the highest recognition of promise, creativity and excellence in a young scientist, is made annually to those distinguished for these attributes as evidenced by their research work carried out in India. Only those born on or after January 1, 1978 are eligible for consideration in the year 2013.
The awardee shall receive a certificate‚ a bronze medal, cash award of Rs. 25,000/- and seed amount to initiate research project and further scope for overseas training for advancement of career.
A candidate may be proposed by a Fellow of the Indian National Science Academy or by earlier recipients of this award. Scientific societies of national standing, university faculty, post-graduate department or research institutions may also make nominations of eligible candidates.
Nomination proforma can be downloaded from website www.insaindia.org. Two hard copies and a soft copy (in MS-Word only) of the nomination, along with all supporting documents, must reach the Academy latest by October 31, 2012.

DBT Rapid Grant For Young Investigator 2012
Department of Biotechnology India Rapid Grant For Young Investigator- RGYI 2012
Rapid Grant for Young Investigators fosters creative research in various fields of biotechnology (Medical, Agriculture, Animal Biotech, Environment and Industry etc) to enhance early career development of young investigators below 40 years of age. The programme aims to provide first grant to establish the lab and initiate research in the frontier areas of biotechnology.
Grant applications are invited for innovative research projects from PI/teams of young PI's with interdisciplinary multi-institutional collaboration;holding independent position (and within 10 years of receiving a PhD) and with potential for independent research.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate a promising track record of early achievements appropriate to their research field and career stage, including significant publications (as main author) in international peer-reviewed scientific journals. They may also refer to monographs or demonstrate a record of invited presentations in well-established international conferences, granted patents, awards, prizes etc. Each application should include Post-Doctoral students as additional Co-PI's together with young faculty/scientists holding permanent positions.
Interested investigators are required to submit 10 copies of the project proposal to Dr. T.S. Rao, Advisor, Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology Block 2 (6th - 8th Floor) CGO Complex, LodiRoad New Delhi - 110 003 and soft copy of the same at rgyi.dbt@gmail.com Investigators submitting the projects should clearly specify "Application for RGYI" on the envelope. The format for submitting Proposal and guidelines for RGYI (same as for routine competitive grant R&D projects) may be seen at website - www.dbtindia.nic.in.

RCB Young Investigator Awards 2010
RCB Young Investigator Awards 2010
Regional Center of Biotechnology-RCB is a newly established institution of education ,training & research in the National Capital Region-NCR of Delhi by Dept of Biotechnology, Govt of India under an agreement with UNESCO. RCB is designed to be a Centre of excellence in biotechnology with intimate contributions from the countries of the region and academic institutions from the rest of the world and provides a meeting place where innovation, enterprise and development will germinate.
Applications are invited for the RCB-YI awards from young scientists below the age of 35 years, to work in the areas related (but not limited) to structural, systems and synthetic biology, tissue engineering, analysis of complex diseases for identification of intervention points and development of knowledge-based drug discovery strategies, under the mentorship of senior faculty of RCB. Those likely to complete their Ph.D programme in the next 3 months are also eligible to apply.
The Award shall be initially for a duration of three years. The award carries a consolidated stipend of Rs.40,000/- per month. The awardee shall not be entitled to draw any other fellowship or salary.
Interested young scientists may apply with a recent biodata and copies of up to two key publications in SCI-cited journals to Manager (A&F), Regional Centre for Biotechnology, National Institute of Immunology Campus, Aruna Asaf Ali Marg, New Delhi - 110 067. latest by May 10, 2010. Advance copy of the application may be e-mailed to rcb@nil.ac.in. Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview for the final selection.
