University of Delhi M.A Social Work Admissions 2014

University of Delhi invites application for admission to M.A. in Social Work for the academic session 2014-2016.

Eligibility:
Candidates should have a Bachelor's Degree or its equivalent (under the 10+2+3 year) in any discipline with a minimum of 55% marks from any of the recognised universities.

B.A. (H) Social Work students with a minimum of 50% marks from any of the recognised Universities are also eligible to apply.

Those candidates who are appearing in the final year examination of the Bachelor's degree, are also eligible to apply subject to the qualification listed above.

Candidates belonging to SC / ST shall be eligible as per Delhi University rules to pass with the minimum marks.

PWD candidates shall be allowed 5% relaxation in the eligibility requirement.Candidates belonging to OBC category shall be eligible for admission as per University norms.


Those satisfying eligibility requirements will be assessed for selection through a two-stage process involving: (a) Written.Test and (b) Group Discussion and personal Interview.

The admission test will be held on 2nd March, Sunday at Delhi.

To Apply : Admission Bulletin alons with application forms shall be available from l0th January,2014 (Friday) to 18th February, 2014 (Tuesday) and may be obtained from the Department of Social Work against a cash payment of Rs.650/- (Rs.450/- for SC/ST/PWD candidates) at Department counter or by iost o, by downloading the form from website www.du.ac.in along with a demand draft of Rs.700/- (Rs.500/- in case of SC/ST/PWD candidates) drawn in favour of Registrar, University of Delhi, payable at Delhi.

Central University of Tamilnadu- CUTN invites applications from interested candidates for M.A. Social Work Programme with specializations in Mental Health and Community Development (In collaboration with Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai)

The objectives of the programme are (i) to understand the scope of social work practice in mental health within a development and human rights perspective, (ii) to become responsive to the vast need for comprehensive, ethical mental health services in rural and urban India, with special focus on marginalized and vulnerable groups, (iii) to develop skills in mental health service delivery as well as policy planning, program management, advocacy, activism and research in the mental health sector and (iv) to develop abilities to work in interdisciplinary teams and contexts.

Eligibility:

A Bachelor’s Degree of a minimum of 3 years duration or its equivalent (under the 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 or 10+2+2+1 year bridge course pattern of study or any other pattern fulfilling the mandatory requirements of 15 years formal education) from a recognized university, in any discipline.

Minimum marks in the qualifying examination for admission is 55% for general category, 50% for OBC (Non-creamy Layer) and 45% for SC/ST. The candidates should not have completed 24 years of age as on 01-07-2013.

MASTER’S PROGRAMME IN PHILANTHROPIC SOCIAL WORK
This Master’s Programme in Social Work (MSW) is having specialization in Philanthropy. The concept of philanthropic social work is appropriate in developing countries where interventions among the poorest of the poor is much needed. Some of the interventions including those of Baba Amte, Acharya Vinoba Bhave and Mother Teresa have been found to be acceptable across the globe. Their approaches and especially the use of the Social Action method to ameliorate the sufferings of the needy and poorest of the poor is being adequately highlighted in the syllabus.

MSW (with specialization in philanthropic social work) is perhaps the first of its kind across the globe. Professional social work has its origin in Charity Organisation Societies (COS). Philanthropic Social Work has its origin in the vision, mission and charitable works of philanthropists, who devoted their life for serving the poorest of the poor. This programme would be of great importance to developing countries in South Asia, Africa, South America and particularly the Indian sub-continent.

Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized University/Institution

Medium of Instruction: English
Duration : Two Years

Programme Fee : Rs. 6000/- per semester
Students Intake
10 students will be admitted in July, 2009 batch.
The reservation of seats for SC/ST/OBC and other categories will be followed as per the University rules.

Mode of Admission
The admission will be through an entrance test followed by interview.
The duration of the test will be 3 hours.
Entrance test will be held at New Delhi.
