MICA FPM Admissions 2021

MICA, formerly Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad, has announced Admission to Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) 2021. This programme is approved by AICTE.  The institute offers comprehensive fellowships that includes fee waiver, a monthly stipend and other research grants.

 MICA's FPM programme has following learning objectives:

  • Integrate understanding of different theoretical perspectives in the disciplines of Media, Communication and Marketing and develop a holistic understanding of this area

  • Make significant intellectual contributions to the body of knowledge in the field of Media, Communication and Marketing

  • Connect classroom learning with contemporary issues and identify knowledge to address these issues

  • Demonstrate superior oral and written communications skills

  • Bring in awareness of existing and emerging issues in research ethics

Eligibility  :  Applicants must have a UGC/AIU/AICTE approved Post Graduate/Master’s Degree/equivalent qualification with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade in the field of management/communications/humanities/ or social science. Exposure and understanding of Marketing, Media, Public Relations, Advertising and/or Journalism shall be an added advantage.

The candidate should have also completed a UGC/AIU/AICTE approved three-year Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification after completing higher secondary (10+2) or equivalent. The Bachelor’s degree can be from any discipline (Engineering/ Science/ Social Studies/ Arts/ Commerce/ Communication/ Management/ or Media).

Foreign nationals and NRIs with non-Indian degrees that are considered equivalent (by UGC/AIU/AICTE) to the qualifications listed with GRE above are also eligible to apply for the programme.

Admission Procedure:

Stage 1: Telephone interviews of eligible candidates.

Stage 2: The Shortlisted candidates appear for MICA’s FPM Admission Test. The FPM Admission Test is a three-day process organised on the MICA campus, comprising of the Written Test (WT), an Individual Presentation (IP) and a Personal Interview (PI).

Candidates appearing for the admission test will be provided lodging and boarding at the MICA campus.

Financial Support:  All students (except sponsored students) admitted to the Programme will be given a fellowship and contingency allowance. Fellowship includes fee waiver and a monthly stipend. The stipend for the first 2 years is Rs.27,500 per month and that of 3rd and 4th year is Rs.29,700 and Rs.33,000, respectively. In addition to the stipend, a contingency grant of Rs. 15,000 in the first year and Rs. 30,000 in each of the second and third years will be available to the students for academic expenses like case material, books, travel, data collection expenses, thesis expenses etc. Students will be permitted to carry over surpluses to the following years.

MICA’s PGP offering has two programmes: PGDM-C and PGDM, as per the AICTE (accreditation body), regulatory requirement, for the admission’s process for the Academic Year 2021-2023.

 

MICAT is the mandatory entrance test for admission to PGDM programs at MICA Ahmedabad. It is a Computer Based Test (CBT) and will be conducted twice for selection of PGDM-C and PGDM 2021-2023 batch. Better of the two MICAT Scores will be considered to select the candidates. Apart from taking CAT 2020 or XAT 2021, you need to appear in MICAT. The MICAT application fee is Rs.1985/- inclusive of GST.    

 

There will be two MICAT exams and both are computer based tests. MICAT-1 will be conducted in December 2020 and MICAT-II will be conducted in February 2021. MICA Ahmedabad will open the MICAT-1 Registration process in August, 2020 third week. The last date to apply for MICAT is third week of November 2020. Apart from PGDM and PGDM-C, MICA also offers 1-year Post Graduate Certificate Program, Crafting Creative Communications (CCC), and the 4-year Fellow Programme in Management (FPM).

 

MICAT is the MICA institute specific entrance exam for admission to PGDM-C and is conducted by MICA. Apart from appearing in CAT 2020, XAT 2021 or GMAT, the candidates applying for admission to 2 years full time PGDM-C or PGDM programme at MICA will have to appear in MICAT-I in December, 2020 or MICAT-II in February 2021. MICAT commands 50% weightage in shortlisting at MICA, while 50% weight goes to CAT/XAT/GMAT score.

 

The candidates who appear in MICAT-1 can get better choice of test centre and GDPI Centre as compared to MICAT-II test takers.

MICA Ahmedabad accepts CAT/XAT/GMAT score for admission to its flagship PGDM program. Apart from appearing in CAT 2020, XAT 2021 or GMAT, the candidates applying for admission to PGDM-C programme at MICA will have to appear in MICAT-I in December 2020 or MICAT-II in February 2021. Post Graduate Programme in Communications Management (PGPCM) leading to Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Communications) - (PGDM-C) 2010 - 2012

Eligibility-:

Admissions to the PGDM (C) programme requires a Bachelor's degree (in keeping with the 10 + 2 + 3 (4) system) with minimum 50% marks or an equivalent qualification in any discipline recognised by the Association of Indian Universities. Candidates appearing for the final examination towards a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) are also eligible to apply.

Students with demonstrable aptitude for expressing, assessing or conceiving ideas that move people to action and achieve business results, will stand better chances of being shortlisted.

Selection Procedure-:

The selection process for the PGDM (C) involves three steps:

Stage - I
CAT / GMAT

Candidates have to apply on the basis of CAT 2009 or GMAT (Score of 31 December 2007 or later).

Indian students can also apply with GMAT scores.

GMAT score of 600+ can also be considered in lieu of CAT. (However shortlisting will be conducted depending on the number of applications).

The CAT cut-off percentile for the 2009-2011 : 90 percentile and above overall with sectional cut off of 50 percentile and above in DI & QT. For verbal comprehension, sectional cut off was 60 percentile and above.

Stage - II
MICA Admissions Test (MICAT)

Candidates shortlisted from CAT/GMAT will be invited to appear for the MICAT, which will be conducted in Feburary / March at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai. The MICAT is designed to assess analytical and divergent thinking, written communication skills and familiarity with the Indian ethos.

Note: The Institute reserves the right to change any MICAT Centre without assigning any reason.

Stage - III
Group Exercise (GE) and Personal Interview (PI)

Candidates shortlisted on the basis of MICAT will be invited for Group Excercise and Personal Interview later in March / April 2010.

3. The participants will be short listed on the basis of the uniqueness of the idea and the application form.
4. Short listed participant will be required to make a 10-15 minute presentation on the idea to a MICA Selection Panel.
5. Applicants will also take the MICA Programme Absorption Test (MIPAT), a test which evaluates proficiency in English, logical reasoning, problem solving, data interpretation and creative idea generation abilities.
6. Selected candidates will be invited to join the PGPCME.

Eligibility Criteria:

The participants should have secured at least 50% marks in graduation from a recognized university/institution
The participants should have at least 3 years of work experience after graduation in corporate, family business or their own venture

Eligibility:
You must be a graduate.
