IGNOU Launches Certificate Programme in Yoga

IGNOU’s School of Health Sciences (SOHS) has launched Certificate Programme in Yoga (CPY) from July, 2019 session.

Yoga is essentially a practice based on an extremely subtle science, which focuses on bringing harmony between mind, body and spirit. It is a very powerful means to achieve physical, mental and emotional well being. Yoga paves the way to discover the self, the external world and the nature. It is an art and science for healthy living. Yoga has several benefits including education, health and stress management.

An admission fee of Rs. 10,000 has to be paid for the complete programme. The CPY Programme will be available from July session across different IGNOU centres including Chennai, Dehradun, Delhi, Ladnun, Pune, Bengaluru, Haridwar, Jaipur, Mumbai and Bhubaneswar. The CPY programme will entail 3 courses and 16 credits. Any student who wishes to pursue the six-month programme in Yoga will have to register online.

Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, under Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India invites applications in Diploma in Yoga Science (DYSc.) for Graduates, a regular, non residential course of one year duration (02 Semesters) for the academic year 2017-18.

Eligibility; A graduate from a recognized University with minimum 50% marks in aggregate. However, it will be 45% for SC/ST/OBC candidates.

Age Limit: Below 30 years as on 01.08.2017 (10 years age relaxation for in service candidate, who joins the course on deputation through proper channel).

Application Form and Admission Brochure can be obtained from the office of MDNIY from 10.00 am to 05.00 pm on any working day from 18.07.2017 on payment of Rs.500I- in Cash/Demand Draft of any Nationalized Bank in favour of MORARJI DESAI NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF YOGA, payable at New Delhi. The admission brochure can also be obtained by post also on a payment of Rs.600/- by demand draft only. Application form and admission brochure can also be downloaded from website, which may be submitted along with Demand Draft of Rs.500/-.

NIOS Certificate in Yoga

NIOS Certificate in Yoga

A certificate course in yoga has been launched by the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) in order to create job opportunities for becoming yoga teachers.
NIOS is an autonomous institution under Union HRD ministry.
Who all can apply?

* The course is open to Indian and foreign nationals
* Those interested in applying for the course should be a class 12 pass-out or equivalent from any recognised board of school education/university.

Benefits of the course
Those acquiring certificate in yoga course can get jobs as yoga teacher or equivalent in the yoga institutions, yoga centre, health clubs, naturopathy hospitals and schools and colleges, Sinha said.

Minimum contact hours of the course was of 240 hours.
Modules

The course will be offered in two modules--one month residential course and six months course in workshop mode, Sinha said.

Giving details of the scheme of study, the NIOS regional director said while theory would constitute 30 per cent, practicals would cover 50 per cent and the rest would be learner's portfolio.
