It offers courses related to slow-wave and fast-wave devices, CAD techniques used for the design of microwave tubes, specialized tubes and their applications as well as fabrication technologies used. Microwave tubes are at the heart of satellite and broadcast communications, radars as well as generation of plasma and find extensive use in medical, consumer and industrial domains. Central Electronics Engineering Research Institute (CEERI), Pilani

Advanced Instrumentation Engineering
Instrumentation Engineering is the synergistic combination of mechanical engineering, electronic engineering, control engineering, systems design engineering, and computer engineering to achieve measurements and control. It is a multidisciplinary field involving material science, sensors & actuators, optics, signal processing, statistics, computation and communication. The applications for this field are mostly visible in Health, Agriculture, Aviation, Safety, Security, Space, Manufacturing and Processing Sectors.
This PG research programme on Advanced Instrumentation Engineering aims to provide in-depth exposure to the engineering concepts, scientific principles, research methodology and hands-on experience on advanced real-life R&D projects in different specialisations of advanced instrumentation engineering. Students completing this two-year programme will be fully research-enabled and industry-ready. Due to its multidisciplinary nature, graduates from wider branches of engineering can enrol into this course. The first semester of the programme focuses on core subjects and associated laboratories. The second and third semesters of the programme provide further sub-specialization in the areas of:

* Agrionics (AG)
* Photonics (PH)
* Biomedical Engineering (BM)

The third and fourth semesters give the opportunity to the candidates to effectively utilize the knowledge acquired through the courses towards advanced R&D project work and dissertation in their chosen specialization areas. Central Scientific Instruments Organisation (CSIO), Chandigarh

Mechatronics
Mechatronics is a design philosophy which encourages engineers to concurrently integrate precision mechanical engineering, digital and analog electronics, control theory and computer engineering in the design of “intelligent” products, systems and processes rather than engineering each set or requirements separately. The advantages of the Mechatronics approach to design are shorter design cycles, lower costs, and elegant solutions to design problems that cannot easily be solved by staying within the bounds of the traditional engineering disciplines. Mechatronics further relates to a multidisciplinary approach to product and manufacturing system design. It represents the next generation machines, robots, automotive and aerospace systems, reprography, medicine, manufacturing machinery and smart mechanisms for carrying out work in a variety of environments.
The Post Graduate Research Programme in Mechatronics intends to acquaint students with the fundamentals of mechatronics through pedagogy on current theoretical and practical developments in this area. The programme traverses a wide range of applications that comprise robotics, product design, instrumentation, manufacturing methods, computer integration and process & device control, with specific emphasis on innovative engineering. Students undergoing this course are expected to emerge properly equipped to confront challenges across the industrial environment and academic research spectrum. Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CMERI), Durgapur

Materials Resource Engineering
The two year post graduate research training program on Materials Resource Engineering is built on the philosophy of promoting quality education and enabling a centre of learning to develop research and industry ready manpower who can become future technology leaders in the areas of mineral engineering, process metallurgy and advanced materials. The programme will provide in-depth exposure to the engineering concepts, scientific principles, research methodology associated with mineral processing, extractive metallurgy, and environment. The students will have exposure to hands-on research & industry interaction to enable development of the right skill, acumen, and expertise to meet the needs of minerals and materials industry. Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (IMMT), Bhubaneswar
Advanced Petroleum Science and Technology
IIP being a constituent laboratory of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research is involved, in Research & Technology development in the hydrocarbon sector for more than four decades, is the nodal centre for conducting a 2 year PG Research Programme in “Advanced Petroleum Science and Technology”. The first semester of the programme focuses on the core courses. The second semester offers the specialized courses in the field of Petroleum Refining technologies, alternate fuels and analytical methods for detailed characterization of crude and products. The third and fourth semesters give the opportunity to the candidates to effectively utilize the knowledge acquired through the courses towards advanced R&D project work and dissertation in choosen areas. The third semester is also aimed at providing Advanced Self study courses which will prepare them in specialized areas like catalysis, alternate fuels, heat integration, green diesel and many more under the guidance of IIP scientists. On successful completion of this programme the candidates will be fully equipped to work in the hydrocarbon sector as research scientists in a globally competitive environment. Moreover, high performing candidates from among those who successfully complete the programme are likely to be considered for appointment as regular scientists of IIP. Indian Institute of Petroleum (IIP), Dehradun
Engineering of Structures

Our programs and curricula related to the course Engineering of Structures provide education and training through a holistic approach to structural engineering, by emphasizing and building on the commonality in materials, mechanics, and analysis considerations across the disciplines of civil, aerospace, and mechanical engineering. The program features strong components in laboratory experimentation, basic theory, information technology, and engineering design. The post graduate research program is aimed at training selected number of students as highly skilled professionals in Civil/Aero/ Mechanical engineering with the proper academic and engineering credentials to assume leadership roles in industry and academia. Structural Engineering Research Centre (SERC), Chennai

Environmental Systems, Modeling & Optimization
The main goal of the course is to foster rational thinking in complex decision situations related to environmental problems by studying the physical laws underlying environmental phenomena. This course provides a background for engineering students to learn and achieve a scientific understanding of important environmental issues concerning pollution and mitigation. There is a tremendous need to comprehend not only the physical and chemical principles underlying a process, but also to translate this understanding into a mathematical form, solve the resulting equations and interpret/apply the results towards process improvement. The field of mathematical modelling has seen significant progress, both in terms of techniques of modelling as well as in the ability to handle complex models. Thus it is possible in many instances today to reduce actual experimentation to a minimum and obtain the required information through numerical experimentation on the mathematical model. National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI), Nagpur

ISCGhost said...

Hello all,
It seems that everyone is disappointed over the result declaration by CSIR. Let us hope that it will be announced soon thereby ending our wait. I’m from electrical engg. branch
GPA 8.48
GATE Score-430

Anonymous said...

hi everyone........

as they said ,they have received a large no. of applications so it might be difficult for them to shortlist candidates....now the reasons what i think ....

selecting students just on basis of cgpa & % it is really a tough process as we all are frm different universities & every uni have diff type marking systems..even in same university every college has its own way...

now coming to gate score ....
only gate is the exam whereall engg.graduates test their skills/knowledge ...each technical paper has its own syllabus & imp.
how one can compare of gate scores & percentile two streams as we all know it all depends on no.candidates in a particular stream & last year cutoff....

this whole process of selection is really diversified in its way & they r giving chance to any discipline.....really a great work.

Anonymous said...

i am hemanth kumar,applied for Post-Graduate Research Training Programme in Engineering ,till now i did't get any information regarding this.no results are announced in the csir web site..

hi.....i am eagerly waiting for the list of shortlisted candidates to be out...can anyone tell me what are my chances...I mean i have percentage of 82% but didnt give gate exam....

Sovan said...

You people seriously think that govt file server stay in the same building as the office, common don't act kiddish. It is just a story, more over who said govt got sat & sunday holiday. its 2nd & 4th Saturday which are holidays, thats too some of the office.

God knows why is the delay. And more over discussing on the issue, wont result something, although I am happy for writing this as I am feeling sick waiting for the result.

Anonymous said...

@sovan

friend i have worked in gov org .
and its sat. sunday off there .
and dude its not surprising if they come up with an excuse that data base got lost ...as things like these are quite commom in these orgs. only thing which happens is that they forms a report on that and there will be some very intellegent recomendations ..and after that you know what ? all will be forgotened in files till next fire ...cheeer ....:)

sorry poeple it was not ment to dishearten you . it was just a reply to sovan.
even iam hoping for good ...

charan said...

Guys, just relax, the ONE and the Only ONE reason why it is delayed is the number of applications they got is VERY VERY high in number as against they were expecting, so we just have to wait a bit more....

Sovan said...

Thats cool(anonymous).
@Charan
Dont you think, even now they just can keep the exam back on, or ask for some resume, which will describe them the candidate bit more.
I remember some colleges where, getting % was no difficult task.
Any ways every body carry their own luck(just like imran khan in "LUCK")

I will be having the onsite interview August 1st week. And I was thinking if this interview would be before that, it will be really great.
I can quit the company and join here.

Now I am stuck for two more year.

Please atleast tell me.. I am out of the race, I will be happy.

what is this boss! I thought 85% marks in Btech is an unacheivable task . Even university toppers are scoring around 82, 84% marks. Ans here the cutoff is 91%. How this is possible?
No weigtage given to GATE percentile. So why they had written that GATE percentile will be preferred.

exactly its really unbelievable results ......
one sud hav 89%above in btech...
to get shortlisted .....
dont knw where such eaily scored are given in btech ......i knw its really tough to get abt 80%...
no weitage to gate scores ......
really surprising package frm csir......

oh...i hate such results...

no university gives easily such scores , its the hard work plays role. so appreciate and greet us for our hardwork atleast. best wishes

man , i am university topper of my university with 82.8% marks and i know what i had to put to get those marks.
First of all, university marks are no such thing to be used in comparing the calibre of student. Some university have lineant marking schemes and some have tough. Even they have compared CGPA scores with percetage which is a silly thing to do. GATE scores may have provided a proper scale to judje what is the level of calibre of a particular student.

Biggest blunder is that they have linearly converted CGPA into percentage.e.g CGPA of 9.1 becomes 91%. Now,anyone can tell you that CGPA cannot be linearly converted to %ge. Those without CGPA or with %age score were already out of the race. Someone tell them that CGPA cannot be linearly converted to %age.And guess what - no weightage to GATE which was atleast a common exam.- Samar

all who didnt got selected can consider thrself lucky.....the organisation which puts CGPA in equal scale with percentage is not worth working......i too applied for the programme m presently working in ISRO n i m fadeup with their workculture thats y wanted to do postgraduation from csir....bt now i think ISRO is atleast better than CSIR....bt thankgod they hav considered colgs like IIT BHU n BITS at par with othr colgs

Anonymous said...

d rsults r put in a easy way without doing much work its simple to shortlist on basis of %& cgpa as dey hvnt considered gate score &
added adv. to sme collges.....
its all abt %tage game ......& it matters..

well frzs its end up nw....
gud luck 2 rest of life

Well, congrats to those who got selected.

I don’t know, how far this is FARE.
But I remember while doing my project in NAL. My HOD (Experimental Aerodynamics)was saying "your colleges just give you percentages and doesn’t look how qualified the student is".

Even the chairman of ISRO said on news paper, all colleges are just looking for percentages so he wanted engineering college of ISRO separately.

No hard feeling people who are selected. they may not be coming back to this site also.

But remember people "wining without a fight is just worthless".
Although I understand winner is a winner. There no two thoughts about it.

Signing off..
May be.

Hi all...first of all congrats for the selected people..i was also selected for the interview but later i got a mail from csir saying regrets about my selection as i was a 2007 passed out..it dissapointed me alot...but iam alredy working in an MNC ..i applied for this progam because of the sucking work over here....anyhow i think the freshers 2009 should be given an oppurtunity as they are really facing the heat due to recession... one thing the courses in the program are excellent they are at par with all IITs. its a good step by govt/csir for encouraging research in india..which is most important for a developing counntry like india...

all the best
Harish
