Central Institute of Fisheries Education is starting certificate / Diploma courses under a Professional Development Programme (PDP) from 2nd February 2009 in ‘Fisheries enterprise Management’ and ‘Fisheries Development Management’. The objectives of the programme are:
*To impart relevant applied technical know how for developing necessary skills in fisheries, aquaculture, fish processing and development management through first hand field level experience.
*To development and sharpen up entrepreneurial capabilities, help in identifying business opportunities , evolve viable business plans and making them confident to execute them.
*To provide sectoral overview and precise understanding of field realities vis a vis various development interventions and developing competence to visualize , plan execute and manage development programs.
*To development adequate skills for effective presentation and communication, Social mobilization and organizational development.
The duration of Diploma programme is one year whereas the certificate courses are of 12 weeks duration. Anyone who is a graduate in any field with interest in fisheries and aquaculture would be eligible to apply. The aspiring candidates can apply on the proforma given below and send their application to Director, central Institute of Fisheries Education (ICAR) , Seven Bungalows , Versova , Mumbai-400061 latest by 20th January 2009. The course fee for certificate course is Rs. 15000 and for Diploma programme it is 40000.

Central Institute of Fisheries Education admissions
Applications are invited for admission in Ph.D.in the following courses for the academic session 2008 - 09:
Fisheries Resource Management
Aquaculture
Post Harvest Technology
Fish Genetics
Fish Biotechnology
Fish Pathology & Microbiology
Fish Nutrition & Biochemistry
Fish Business Management
Eligibility: B.F.Sc & M.F.Sc. (4+2 yrs) or B.Sc. & M.Sc. (3 yrs) from CIFE (till 1995) will OGPA7.5 out of 10 and 3.75 out of 5 and OGPA for SC/ST candidates is 7.00 out of 10 and 3.50 out of 5. (OR) D.F.Sc. provided candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in biological science and has two years of experience in fisheries development work after obtaining D.F.Sc. In case of sponsored candidates, those holding M.Sc. in Fish and Fisheries and related disciplines with at least two years experience in fisheries development work are also eligible to apply.
AGE LIMIT : The minimum age for admission shall be 22 years as on 30th September 2008. No relaxation in age limit is permitted. No age limit for in-service candidates.
Application procedure: The Information Bulletin and Application forms may be obtained from the office of the Registrar, Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Fisheries University Road, Seven Bungalows, Andheri(W), Mumbai - 400 061 by submitting a bank draft of Rs. 350/- drawn in favour of "ICAR Unit, CIFE, Mumbai" payable at SBI, Versova or against cash payment at our sale counter against Rs. 300/-. The application form and information bulletin can also be downloaded from CIFE website: http//www.cife.edu.in. However, such application shall be submitted along with the demand draft for Rs. 300/- as mentioned above.
