Calcutta University PGD Media Studies Admissions 2014

Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Calcutta University, offers admission to PG Diploma in Media Studies: Film and Television, commencing in 2014.

Eligibility: Graduation in any discipline (pass/honours/vocational etc) from a recognized University. Those who have appeared for final examination and awaiting results are also eligible to apply .No age bar. Reservation for SC/ST and physically Handicapped candidates as per rules and University norms.

To Apply: The prescribed Application Form can be downloaded from the official website of CalcuttaUniversity www.caluniv.ac.in. Downloaded application forms completed in all respects along with the proof of payment of Rs. 250/= by University cash Challan from 20th August – 9th September, 2014.

Application fees may be deposited with the Calcutta University through Cash Challan by the candidate. Counterpart of the Slip in original after Cash deposition is to be attached with the application form.

Admission to this course would be done through written test. Question for the written test are set in English and are objective in nature. Emphasis is put on general knowledge, current affairs, proficiency in language, reasoning, audiovisual media etc.

Candidates would be selected through written test and personal interview.

Last date for the submission of application form is September 09, 2014.

Written test would be held on September 12, 2014.

Film and Television Institute of India (FTI), Pune, invites applications for the following courses for 2014 session.

* One Year Post Graduate Certificate Course in Feature Film Screenplay Writing (Film)

* One Year Post Graduate Certificate Course in Direction (TV)

* One Year Post Graduate Certificate Course in Electronic Cinematography (TV)

* One Year Post Graduate Certificate Course in Video Editing (TV)

* One Year Post Graduate Certificate Course in Sound Recording and TV Engineering (TV)


Selection will be based on Entrance Examination for all the courses will be held on 15.06.2014 at the following centres: Kolkata, Pune, New Delhi, Bangalore, Bhopal.

To Apply : The Candidates can also apply online through FTII Website from 24.3.2014. The prospectus containing the application form and other details may be obtained on request along with a demand draft of Rs. 2150/- for General Category and Rs. 650/- for SC, ST and Economically Backward ( candidates should enclose attested copy of Parent's BPL card with the application form ) drawn on any of the Nationalised Banks in favour of "Accounts Officer, Film and Television Institute of India," payable at Pune.

Requests for prospectus by post will be entertained only after 24th March, 2014 and till 12th April, 2014. Prospectus can also be obtained personally from the information and facilitation counter (Tutorial Section), Film and Television Institute of India and you may also apply online till 3rd May, 2014 on www.ftiindia.com.

The prospectus will be sent by Speed Post. Candidates are advised to see that completed applications should reach in time.

SRFTI National Students Film Awards 2014

Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute Kolkata invites entries from educational institutions in film and media for the 2nd National Students Film Awards to be held during 27 February-2 March 2014

The National Student’s Film Awards were instituted by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, in 2012 to promote emerging film making talents in film schools around the country and provide them a platform that would help them realize their artistic vision as they undertake the exciting but difficult journey into professional film making.

Only films made by students of such institutions as part of thier academic curriculum are eligible for the awards. The films must have been produced between January 1 and December 31, 2013

9.9 SoC Online Programme in Video Story-telling

9.9 SoC, together with International Centre for Journalists (www.icfj.org), is offering a six-week fellowship programme in Video Story-telling - delivered as a hands-on, interactive, online course.

The programme will run from December 2, 2013, to January 10, 2014The six week interactive programme will be delivered by an Emmy award winning video journalist, participants will learn the fundamentals of image composition, editing etc

The course will cover the basics of shooting and editing a video story. Participants need to participate is internet access, and a simple video camera or phone/device with video and audio capabilities. The instructor will provide one-on-one mentoring.
