IIST Ph.D Admissions 2014

Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Thiruvananthapuram, invites applications for Ph.D. Programme starting in January 2014, in the areas of Aerospace Engineering, Avionics Engineering, Earth and Space Sciences, Mathematics and Physics.

Eligibility:

* Applicants with Master’s Degree in Engineering/Technology :

Applicants with Master’s Degree in Engineering / Technology must have secured first class or equivalent in the Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees. They must have pursued their Master’s degree on the basis of qualified GATE score. Candidates with MS in Engineering or equivalent from leading foreign Universities with outstanding academic record (or) MS by Research with outstanding academic record can be considered without GATE. Candidates with Integrated Masters degree (or Dual Degree) in Engg/Tech from IITs and IISc with minimum CGPA 9.0/10 can be considered without GATE.


* Applicants with Master’s Degree in Science :

Applicants must have Master’s Degree in the relevant area with first class or equivalent in their Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees. They must have qualified UGC/CSIR NET -JRF (or) NET-Lectureship (or) GATE qualified in the relevant disciplines.


* Applicants with Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology :

Outstanding candidates with Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with an excellent academic record and aptitude for research may be considered for direct admission to the Ph.D. Programme. Such candidates must have secured CGPA of 9.0/10 or better and a valid GATE score of 675 or better. B. Tech students from IITs with CGPA better than 9.0/10 do not require GATE.


The selected candidates will be offered IIST Fellowship as per admissible rates.

IIST B.Tech Admissions 2014 Information

Institute of Space Science & Technology- IIST invites applications for admission to Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) programmes, commencing in 2014.

B.Tech Programmes in IIST for the academic year 2014-15.

B.Tech. in Aerospace Engineering : 60 Seats
B.Tech. in Avionics : 60Seats
B.Tech. in Physical Sciences : 36 Seats


Eligibility Criteria :
Candidates who are desirous to join B.Tech Programmes in IIST must appear for the Joint Entrance Examination (Main)-2014 conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi to qualify themselves to appear for Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced)-2014 conducted by IITs and secure the minimum prescribed category-wise marks in JEE (Advanced)-2014 as given below:-

(a) General Candidates (GEN): At least 20% marks in aggregate and at least 5% marks in each of the three subjects (Physics Chemistry and Mathematics).
(b) Other Backward Community – Non Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL) Candidates: At least 18% marks in aggregate and at least 4.5% marks in each of the three subjects (Physics Chemistry and Mathematics).
(c) Scheduled Caste(SC), Scheduled Tribe(ST) & Persons with Disabilities(PD) Candidates: At least 10% marks in aggregate and at least 2.5% marks in each of the three subjects (Physics Chemistry and Mathematics).

B.Tech Programmes :

3. B.Tech. in Physical Sciences


Eligibility for IIST B.Tech 2013

* Only Indian citizenscan apply for admission to IIST

* The date of birth of the candidates belonging to GEN and OBC (NCL1 categories should be on or after October 1, 1988, while the date of birth of those belonging to SC( ST and PD categories should be on or after October 1,1983.

* After qualifying the Joint Entrance Examination, JEE (Main)–2013 conducted by CBSE, the candidate must appear for IIT-JEE(Advanced)-2013 and score the following minimum prescribed category-wise marks in JEE(Advanced)-2013:

[a] General Candidates: At least 5% marks in each of the three subjects (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) and 20% marks in aggregate.

[b] OBC (NCL) Candidates: At least 90% of the marks prescribed for General Candidates asgiven in (a).

[c] SC. ST & PD Candidates: At least 50% of the marks prescribed for General Candidates asgiven in (a).

The marks secured by the candidate in JEE(Advanced)-2013 examination will be used only for deciding his/her eligibility for admission, and will not be considered for preparing the rank list for admission to IIST.

Rank List For Admission

Admission to Undergraduate Programmes (B.Tech) for the year 2013 will be based on the All India Rank List (including category rank list) prepared and published for the year 2013 by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). This rank list is based on 60% weightage of score in the Joint Entrance Examination JEElMainl-2013. and 40% of normalized score in Class 12th or other qualifying examinations.

Online registration of application for admission to IIST will commence at www.iist.ac.in on 17th May 2013 and end on 8th July 2013.

Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology-IIST announces for ISAT-2012-IIST Admission Test 2012 for admission to the following B.Tech Programmes

Admissions to this program are based on the admission test,ISAT,conducted by IIST.Assistance is provided to all B.Tech students to cover the cost of education,boarding,lodging and healthcare. On successful completion of the course with prescribed academic standards,the students will be absorbed in ISRO as Scientist/Engineers.

ISAT-2012, for admission to B.Tech programmes commencing in the academic year 2012, is scheduled to be held on Saturday, 21st April, 2012 between 09:00 AM to 12:00 NOON, at the following centres across India.

IIST is Asia's first Sapce University was established under the Department of Space in September 2007. IIST envisions the integration of Space Technology and Space Science educational programs with basic and applied research for meeting the national R&D requirements of science and technology in general and of the Indian Space Programme in particular. The institute provides a vibrant research atmosphere and offers doctoral and post doctoral programmes. Applications are invited from highly motivated candidates for admission to the Post Doctoral Fellow Programme starting in July 2011 in the ares of Avionics, Physics, Chemistry and Earth and Space Sciences. Eligibility - Minimum Qualification - Ph.D in the relevant area and first class or equivalent in Master's Degree. Candidates who were awarded Ph.D before 1.7. 2006 are not eligible to apply Age limit - 32 years as on 30.06.2011 Age relaxation applicable as per Govt. of India Rules. Nationality - Applicant should be an Indian citizen. Fellowship award - Consolidated amount of Rs.40,000/- per month. The PDF is initially awarded for one year and is extendable to a second year based on the review of the progress of the research work by the end of the first year by an expert committee. PDF Scholars will be required to assist the department in research and laboratory related activity. The scholars will be provided boarding ad lodging subject to IIST rules. Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology-IIST announces for ISAT-2011-IIST Admission Test for admission to the following B.Tech Programmes

1. B.Tech. in Aerospace Engineering
2. B.Tech. in Avionics
3. B.Tech. in Physical Sciences

B.Tech. Programmes

1. B.Tech. in Aerospace Engineering: It is similar to programmes of the same title available in many reputed Institutions in India and abroad. The programme in IIST is oriented towards the needs of space technology, and has significant overlap with Mechanical Engineering including Mechanical Design and Manufacturing Science and Space Dynamics. People with B.Tech. degree in Aerospace Engineering can further specialize in Flight Mechanics, Aerodynamics, Thermal and Propulsion, Structure and Design, and Manufacturing Science.

2. B.Tech. in Avionics: The programme covers what is typically covered in Electronics and Communications programmes and in addition, provides exposure to Advanced Electronics in digital and communication, control systems and computer systems used in aerospace systems. People with B.Tech. degree in Avionics can later specialize in areas like DSP, RF & Communication, Antenna, Power Electronics, Micro Electronics, Control System etc.

3. B.Tech. in Physical Sciences: This programme is oriented towards application of basic sciences in Space Science, Space Technology and Space Application. The programme lays a strong foundation in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and gives exposure to important applications of space technology such as Remote Sensing and GIS, Astronomy and Astrophysics, and Earth System Sciences. People with B.Tech. degree in Physical Science can later specialize in areas like Atmospheric and Ocean sciences, Solid Earth Science, Astronomy and Astrophysics, Remote Sensing & GIS, and Chemical Systems. The curriculum will have the best blend of basic science and engineering.

The examination will be held on Saturday, 16th April, 2011 between 09:30 AM to 12:30 PM (IST)
(The schedule will remain unaltered even if the above date is declared a public holiday).

Intake of IIST B.Tech Programmes 2011
The total number of seats for the undergraduate programmes in IIST for the year 2011 is 156. The branch-wise distribution of seats is as follows:
B.Tech. in Aerospace Engineering: 59 seats
B.Tech. in Avionics: 58 seats
B.Tech. in Physical Sciences: 39 seats

Candidates can apply on-line only. The online application form will be available from 10:00 AM on 8th November 2010 to 11:30 PM on 31st December 2010 at www.iist.ac.in/isat2011 or http: / /iist.isac.gov.in/iist.
Candidates will be guided at this stage about how to complete the application process, remit examination fee etc.

ELIGIBILITY FOR ISAT-2011 Admission Test
Candidates must make sure that they satisfy all the eligibility conditions given below for appearing in ISAT-2011:

1. Citizenship

Only Indian citizens are eligible to write ISAT-2011.

2. Date of Birth
The date of birth of candidates belonging to GEN, OBC categories should be on or after October 1, 1986, while the date of birth of those belonging to SC, ST and PD categories should be on or after October 1, 1981.
(The date of birth as recorded in the high school/first Board/ Pre-University certificate/or its equivalent will be accepted).

3. Year of passing Qualifying Examination (QE)
A candidate must have passed the QE ( 10 + 2 ) for the first time, in the calendar year 2010 or 2011. Those who are going to appear in the QE after July 1, 2011 or expecting the results of QE later than July 1, 2011 are not eligible to apply for ISAT-2011.

4. Minimum Percentage of Marks in Class X or equivalent examination.
Candidates belonging to GEN and OBC categories must secure at least 70% marks in aggregate in their Class X or equivalent examination, while, those belonging to SC, ST and PD categories must secure at least 60% marks in aggregate in their Class X or equivalent examination.

5. Minimum Percentage of Marks in 10 + 2 or equivalent examination
Candidates belonging to GEN and OBC categories must secure at least 70% marks in the aggregate in their Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) papers in their QE, while, those belonging to SC,ST and PD categories must secure at least 60% marks in the aggregate in their PCM papers in their QE.

EXAMINATION FEE
Examination Fee for GEN and OBC candidates is Rs.600/-and for SC/ST/PD and all female candidates is Rs.300/-. Examination fee is payable in any one of the branches of State Bank of India (SBI) or Punjab National Bank (PNB) only, by using the Challan in triplicate which is downloadable/printable on successful completion of Online Registration through the above website. Fee remitted in any other form will not be accepted

Indian Institute of Space Sciences and Technology-IIST Ph.D programme February 2010

Indian Institute of Space Sciences and Technology(IIST) Asia's first Space University was established under the Department of Space, Govt. of India in September 2007. The Institute provides a vibrant research environment supported by highly qualified faculty members, excellent infrastructure and facilities and also shares the state-of-art facilities of ISRO.

Applications are invited for admission to the Ph.D Programme starting in February 2010 in the areas of Aerospace Engineering, Avionics, Chemistry, Earth and Space Sciences, Mathematics and Physics. Details of current research areas are given in the website : www.iist.ac.in

Eligibility : Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in the relevant area with first class or equivalent. However, outstanding candidates with Bachelor's degree in engineering with an excellent academic record and aptitude for research may be considered for direct admission to the Ph.D. Programme.

Nationality : Open only for Indian citizens

Age Limit Below 28 years as on 1-1-2010

Research Fellowship and Placement : IIST Ph.D Research Fellowship will be Rs.35,000/- pm (all inclusive) Ph.D Scholars will be required to assist in the academic activities of the department. normally limited to 8 hours per week. No tuition / registration fee will be payable by the Ph.D candidates. However, the candidates will have to pay for the boarding / lodging etc., wherever applicable. the candidates will be required to execute a bond to serve ISRO / IIST for a minimum period of three years on successful completion of Ph.D in a position appropriate for doctoral degree holders.

Selection Procedure : Selection will be based on a written test followed by an interview to be conducted during the 3rd / 4th week of January 2010. in Thiruvananthapuram. Outstation candidates will be paid to and fro sleeper class train fare by shortest route.
