Candidates for the admission to the PhD programme shall have a Master’s degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) or an equivalent degree from a Foreign Educational Institution accredited by the Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognised or authorised by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions.

Aspirants are required to enclose demand draft drawn in favour of Jawaharlal Nehru University Payable at New Delhi as per the following rates towards cost of application Form and processing fees with the application form:
For general and OBC category: Rs.420/- (Rs.20/- for cost of application form + Rs. 20/- for processing fee).
For candidates belonging to SC/ST and physically challenged (PH) category: Rs.310/- (Rs.20/- for cost of application form + Rs. 10/- for processing fee)

Bangalore University, invites applications for admission to various Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D) courses, commencing in 2014.

The Ph.D programmes are offered in :

* Faculty of Law
* Faculty of Engineering

Eligibility : Candidates who have cleared UGC/UGC-CSIR JRF Test / NET/ SLET/ SET/ GATE are eligible to apply and they are not allowed to appear for the entrance examination.

Other candidates have to appear for the entrance exam.Candidates who have passed Master's degree in relevant discipline, with 55% of marks from any of the recognised universities.

Entrance Test: Entrance test paper contains multiple choice questions of one mark each of 100 marks. Duration of the test will be 120 minutes.

To apply : Candidates have to submit the application form online.

Candidates have to pay Rs 2,000/- for entrance candidates and Rs 1,500/- for non-entrance candidates (50% of fee will reduced for SC/ST candidates) to the Finance Officer, Bangalore University S.B, A/C No 64144997173 of State Bank of Mysore.

Filled in Application Form along with proof of fee paid and enclosures shall be sent online and one copy of the filled in Application Form with related documents shall also be sent to the Registrar (Evaluation), Pareeksha Bhavan, Bangalore University, Jnanbharati Campus, Bangalore – 560 056 on or before 11.10.2014 up to 5 p.m. by speed post/courier.
