British Council IELTS Awards 2015

The British Council increased the number of IELTS (International English Language Testing System) awards from eight to 10 to mark the 25th anniversary of the test this year.

The British Council IELTS Award was launched with the objective of supporting Indian students intending to study in an English-speaking country. Most importantly, it is a commitment to realising British Council’s aspiration of enabling young people to achieve their life goals.

Ten IELTS candidates get an award of INR 300,000 each towards the cost of tuition fees.

To be eligible for the IELTS Award, you must:

be a resident and citizen of India
have taken the IELTS test with the British Council recently, with the test date being not earlier than 01 August 2013
have a minimum overall IELTS band score of 6.0
produce a valid letter of acceptance / offer letter from a recognised education institution that accepts IELTS as part of its admissions criteria by 15 July 2015
begin an under graduate or post graduate programme outside India in the 2015 academic year.

IGNOU Rajiv Gandhi International Prize 2013

Indira Gandhi National Open University- IGNOU has invited nominations by individuals or institutions or organizations for the award of Rajiv Gandhi International Prize for Education and Technology Development worth Rs. 5 lacs.


The individual(s)/institution(s) who have made outstanding contributions in any of diverse areas in the last 5 years shall be considered for the Award viz Technology enabled education and development; Innovation in the field of educational processes: pedagogy, delivery, affordability, dissemination, community involvement, etc; and Utilisation / novel ICT- based intervention(s) in the field of education; Research and Development in educational technology can apply.

The nominated individual(s)/institution(s) should be engaged in School or Tertiary education and training at national/international level from developing countries. Nominated individual could be self employed or should be working for a ‘not-for-profit’ institution / organisation. Same is applicable to nominated institution/organization.

Nomination can be made by the Vice Chancellor(s) of a University, Chairperson(s) / President(s) of Academies of all India character, Head(s) of the Institutions of national importance, Director(s) of IITs / IIMs, Director(s) General of the major R&D organisations such as the ICSSR, ICAR, ICMR, CSIR, etc.

The nomination for the Award should be made in the prescribed format specifically indicating the outcome/impact of the work of the individual / institution / organization. Prescribed Nomination form and the detailed modalities are available in the IGNOU website i.e. www.ignou.ac.in

National Women Bioscientist Awards 2012

The Department of Biotechnology (DBT) invites nominations of women scientists in the country who are working in the areas of biological sciences including Biotechnology and have made outstanding contributions in R&D, technology and product development for awarding Senior (One) and Young (Two) of ‘National Women Bioscientist Awards’ for the year 2011.

National Women Bioscientist Award (Senior Category)

The National Women Bioscientist Award (Senior Category) is awarded to senior women scientist for life time contributions, who has done excellent research in the country and has applied the results for benefit of students and society. The Award carries a cash prize of ` 1.00 lakh along with citation and a gold plated medal.

National Women Bioscientist Award (Young Category)

The National Women Bioscientist Award (Young Category) is given for outstanding contributions of women scientists below 45 years of age in basic and applied research with potential for application/product and technology development. Contributions made during last 5 years (atleast 3 years continuous stay & work or 5 years stay & work in piece meal basis over a period of 10 years in India), would be the main consideration. The Award carries a cash prize of ` 1.00 lakh with citation and a gold plated medal.

The nominations (10 copies) neatly typed in double space on plain paper in the prescribed proforma complete with enclosures should reach on or before 15th January, 2012 to Mr. K.M. RBI Young Scholars Award Scheme 2010

Reserve Bank of India-RBI Young Scholars Award Scheme 2010

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has launched the RBI Young Scholars Award Scheme to generate interest in and awareness about the Indian banking sector and RBI. Under the Scheme, the RBI will select a maximum of 150 young scholars through a countrywide competitive examination and awarded scholarship. Selection test will focus on the role and functions of RBI and banks in India and will be held in English as well as in all major regional languages.

Selected candidates will be required to work on projects in select offices of RBI for 2 to 3 months and will be paid a consolidated stipend of Rs. 7500/- per month during the duration of the project. RBI will assist outstation awardees in boarding and lodging. The awardees shall have no right/claim for an appointment
in the RBI.

All students, between 18 and 23 years of age, currently pursuing their undergraduate studies in any subject under any recognized university in India, are eligible to take the competitive examination. There is no application fee. The selection test will be held on January 10, 2010 at various centres across India.
The results of the selection test are likely to be announced in the middle of March 2010.

National Award for Technology Business Incubators For the year 2008

In order to recognize and reward the work done in the area of techno-entrepreneurship development through promotion of knowledge driven and technology based start-up ventures by organizations such as Science and Technology Entrepreneur’s Park, Technology Parks, Technology Business Incubators, Innovation Centres, Software Technology Parks etc., the National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB), Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, has instituted a National Award for Technology Business Incubators.
Who can apply : Applications are invited from Indian Organizations/Institutions engaged in incubating new businesses and nurturing techno-entrepreneurship by way of providing specialised facilities, infrastructure support and value added business support services in emerging Technological areas.
Award Details: A Cash Prize of Rs. 1 Lakh and a trophy
Eligibility: Organizations in operation for at least three years. (This award is not for an individual).
