Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar invites application for admission to Ph.D. Programme from candidates in the following categories:

1. Regular full-time scholars with Institute Assistance.
2. Sponsored Scholars: Candidates who possess the minimum prescribed qualifications and are in service in any of the following establishments shall be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. program as Sponsored Scholars:

i) Defence or other ministries of the Government of India or any other government organizations;
ii) Established industrial research and development organizations
iii) Autonomous bodies and public undertakings
iv) Universities/Colleges

The Ph.D programmes are offered in

* School of Basic Sciences
* School of Earth, Ocean & Climate Sciences
* School of Electrical Sciences
* School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Management
* School of Infrastructure
* School of Mechanical Sciences
* School of Minerals, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering

Eligibility:
Ph.D Engineering: Candidates must have a M.Tech / M.E degree in relevant discipline with 60% of marks OR B.E / B.Tech in relevant discipline with 70% of marks from any of the recognised universities.

Ph.D Science:Candidates must have a M.Sc / M.Tech in relevant discipline with 60% of marks from any of the recognised universities.

Ph.D HSS:Candidates must have a Master degree with UGC/NET Score or M.Phil degree in relevant discipline with 55% of marks from any of the recognised universities.

After online submission, print a hard-copy of the completed application form (the online portal will allow you to print after successful electronic submission of your application). Attach all relevant enclosures and forward the application packet to:

IIT Bhubaneswar M.Tech – Ph.D Admissions 2014

IIT Bhubaneswar invites applications for the admission year 2014-15 to the Joint M. Tech. – Ph. D. Programme in:

* Applied Geosciences
* Civil Engineering
* Climate Science & Technology
* Electronics & Communication Engineering
* Power System Engineering
* Materials Science and Engineering
* Mechanical Systems Design
* Thermal Science and Engineering

This programme has been designed to encourage bright students with research aptitude to enroll themselves for Ph.D. after completion of 3rd Semester of M.Tech. Programme. Desirous students having CGPA 8.0 and above at the end of 3rd Semester of the M. Tech. programme are eligible to opt for Ph. D. Otherwise a candidate can continue with his M.Tech. programme if he is not qualified for Ph.D. programme.

Students selected for Ph.D. Programme will have to complete the two year academic requirements of M.Tech. Programme before enrolment into Ph.D. and they will be awarded both the degrees together upon completion of Ph.D. programme successfully.

Eligibility: Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in engineering discipline with 60% of marks or M.Sc in relevant discipline with 60% of marks from any of the recognised universities.

Selection Procedure: Selection of candidate is based on performance in GATE and personal interview/written test or both. The weightage for GATE Score and written test/interview will be 70% and 30% respectively. Personal interviews will be conducted at IIT Bhubaneswar

PhD (Science): 1st class in M.Sc. / M. Tech with consistently good academic record (equivalent CGPA) and valid GATE/NET CSIR/UGC score in the relevant field.

PhD (HSS): 55% marks or equivalent CGPA in Master degree with UGC/NET score OR M. Phil degree in the relevant field.

For admission to undergraduate courses at all IITs IIT - BHU Varanasi and ISM Dhanbad

Examination Schedule

April 8, 2012 : Paper 1 : 09.00 - 12.00 hrs.
(Sunday) : Paper 2 : 14.00 - 17.00 hrs.

Paper 1 and Paper 2 each will have separate sections in Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. Both papers will be of objective type, designed to test comprehension, reasoning and analytical ability of candidates.

Syllabus for this examination will be available on the websites of all IITs.

The candidate can submit the application form either On-line or Off-line.
