JNU, IIM, Harvard to evaluate its Skill Development Programmes

The Indian government has recently asked both national and international universities to review its ambitious skill development programmes.

According to reports, this notice from the government came in after these institutes faced questions over their effectiveness.
Here's the list of universities that have been asked to carry out review scheme:

* IIM- Bangalore

* Jawaharlal Nehru University

* Harvard Business School

* University of Pennsylvania

* Deakin University of Australia

* Delhi School of Economics

As per reports, the National Skill Certification and Monetary Reward Scheme (NSDC) is the execution agency of the ministry of skill development and entrepreneurship

Further, an HT report said that the ministry has taken this decision in consultation with the Prime Minister's Office.

Moreover, while explaining the need for the government to engage academic institutes for "analytical study," Manish Kumar, the corporation's CEO and managing director in recent HT report said, "We would like to know the number of youths trained so far and whether these schemes have been able to bring any change in their lives and upgrade their living standards."

"We have asked these institutions to do an in-depth research and provide information about the results and effects of skill development plans. With this we will get to know the gaps that can be bridged," Kumar added.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the scheme in July 2015 with a target to train 2.4 million youth in India.

Later on, when the reports came in only 5 per cent were got placed.

Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) announces the exam dates for JNU entrance examination JNUEE that will be conducted in May 2015.

Jawaharlal Nehru University will hold Entrance Examination on May 16, 17, 18 and 19, 2015 for admission to various full-time programmes of study at the following 51 cities : Agartala, Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Allahabad, Amritsar, Bangalore, Bareilly, Bhubaneshwar, Calicut, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Dehradun, Delhi, Dimapur, Gangtok, Guwahati, Goa, Gorakhpur, Gwalior, Hyderabad, Imphal, Indore, Itanagar, Jaipur, Jammu, Katihar, Kolkata, Lucknow, Madurai, Mumbai, Nagpur, Noida, Pant Nagar, Patna, Pondicherry, Pune, Raipur, Ranchi, Sambalpur, Secunderabad, Shillong, Shimla, Silchar, Siliguri, Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuram, Udaipur, Varanasi, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam. In addition, the University will hold entrance examination at Kathmandu (Nepal).

JNUEE is conducted for admissions into the following courses:

Other part time programmes offered in various disciplines for the academic session 2015.

Eligibility: For B.A Honors :Candidates should have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with a minimum of 45% marks.

For MCA programmes :Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in any discipline with Mathematics as compulsory subject, under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 55% marks.

For M.A programmes :Candidates must have bachelor's degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 50% marks.

To apply: A candidate can apply either “Online” or “Offline”. Online Application: Candidates can apply Online on payment of prescribed fee if they have access to a computer, a printer and Internet by logging on to JNU website www.jnu.ac.in. The sites have been designed in a ‘user friendly’ way to help candidates for applying Online in a step-by step fashion. Online application portal will remain open from 10:00 AM (IST) on 6th February,2015 till 5:00 PM (IST) on 20th March, 2015.

Offline Application : Set of Application Form and Prospectus can be obtained through Post by sending crossed Bank Draft for Rs.300/- (Rs. Three Hundred only) drawn in favour of JAWAHARLAL NEHRU UNIVERSITY payble at NEW DELHI alongwith a self addressed (unstamped) envelope of the minimum size of 30 cms x 25 cms. clearly indicating the programme of study for which the Application Form is required on the self-addressed envelope to the SECTION OFFICER (ADMISSIONS), Room No.28, Administrative Block, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi 110067.

Candidates seeking a set of Application Form and Prospectus from Nepal are required to send a Demand Draft of Rs.400/- or equivalent in US Dollars. Money Orders and Cheques are not accepted. PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR REQUEST FOR SET OF APPLICATION FORM AND PROSPECTUS THROUGH COURIER. PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE WILL BE NO CASH COUNTER FOR SALE OF SET OF APPLICATION FORM AND PROSPECTUS. On behalf of the participating Universities, the Jawaharlal Nehru University will hold Combined Biotechnology Entrance Examination on Friday 20th May,2011 for admission to (1) M.Sc. (Biotechnology); (2) M.Sc.Agri./M.V.Sc and (3) M.Tech (Biotechnology) Programmes

Application Form can be obtained by post, candidates should send their request only to the Section Officer (Admissions), Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi-110067, along with a Bank Draft (valid for six months) of Rs 260/-(for one set of application Form and Prospectus). The Bank Draft should be drawn in favour of “Jawaharlal Nehru University” payable at New Delhi. The request should accompany a self-addressed unstamped envelope of the size of 28x20 cms. JNU to Start New Centers in 2010

The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is all set to start its new year with the establishment of three new major centres of nano sciences, informal economy and media studies.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has given a nod to these centres and passed the funds for the same.
