JAM 2016 Application Process


JAM 2016 Application Process

Joint Admission Test (JAM) 2016, is scheduled to be conducted on February 7, 2016 for admissions to integrated PhD Degree Programmes at IISc Bangalore and MSc (two years), Joint MSc-PhD, MSc-PhD Dual Degree, MSc MTech, and other Post-Bachelor Degree Programmes at IITs. The registrations for the same will commence from September 2 onwards.

The exam will be conducted by IIT Madras and approximately 1629 seats are vacant at various IITs and IIScs. The online test will be held at various centres in the country and the results will be announced on March 23, 2016.


Educational qualification:

The candidates who are interested in registering for the exam, should have completed graduation with atleast 55 percent marks (50 percent for SC/ST/OBC category candidates).

The information brochure and all other information related to JAM 2016 will be updated time to time on the JAM 2016 website: http://jam.iitm.ac.in/jam2016. A candidate can register and apply ONLINE only for JAM 2016 from September 02, 2015 to October 14, 2015. The application fee can be paid either online or through e-challan (additional transaction charges may apply). In case, a candidate chooses to pay through e-challan, then the payment should be made in cash at any branch of the bank mentioned in the e-challan latest by October 10, 2015 (Saturday).

There will be total 7 papers for the JAM 2016 exam namely, Biologocal Sciences, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Mathematical Statistics and Physics.

National Brain Research Centre-NBRC , a premier institute for neuroscience research and education,invites applications for admission to Ph.D and Integrated M.Sc-Ph.D programmes for the year 2013

Ph.D. in Neuroscience : NBRC offers a Ph.D. programme in Neuroscience. Students from diverse backgrounds are considered for this programme. Fellowship for Junior Research Fellows is Rs.16000 per month and for Senior Research Fellows it is Rs.18000 per month.

Integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D. in Neuroscience : NBRC is one of the first Institutes in the country to develop an Integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D. programme in Neuroscience. These students are provided a fellowship of Rs.5000 per month for the first two years. From third year, they are paid fellowships on par with the Ph.D. students. After completion of the programme, the students will be awarded both M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees.

Candidates desirous of admission to NBRC should either appear for Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Science (JGEEBILS) or
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE-2012/GATE-2013).

Joint Entrance Screening Test 2009 (JEST 2009) on 15th February, 2009

The Joint Entrance Screening Test 2009 (JEST 2009) for enrolment of students in Ph.D. / Integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D programs in Physics (including various inter-disciplinary research areas in Physics) and Theoretical Computer Science in 21 premier Institutes in the country, will held at over 32 centres in the country from 10 am to 1 pm on 15th February, 2009.

JEST score forms an important component in the selection of candidates for the Ph.D. programmes in these institutions.

Minimum Qualifications & Selection Procedure

Ph.D. Programme (PHYSICS): M.Sc. in Physics or M.Sc. / M.E. / M.Tech. in related disciplines. Candidates with M.Sc. in Mathematics and B.Tech (in Engg Physics/Applied Physics/Post B.Sc. Hons only) will also be considered at IIA. Graduates with a B.E. or B.Tech will also be considered at IISc, IMSc, IUCAA, JNCASR, NCRA, RRI, IISER Mohali, IISER Pune and SNBNCBS.

At IPR candidates should have a Masters degree in Physics, Engineering Physics, Applied Physics, etc. with at least 55% aggregate. Talented final year B. Sc. Graduates will also be considered for pre-selection at IUCAA.

Ph.D. Programme (Theoretical Computer Science): M.Sc./ M.E. / M.Tech. / M.C.A. in Computer Science and related disciplines, and should be interested in the mathematical aspects of computer science. Talented B.Sc. / B.E. / B.Tech. graduates will also be considered for integrated M.Sc.- Ph.D. programme.

Integrated M.Sc. - Ph.D. Programme: At HRI, candidates with a Bachelor's degree will also be considered for the integrated M.Sc. - Ph.D. programme in Physics.

At IMSc, graduates with B.Sc. / B.E. / B. Tech. degree will also be considered for admission to M.Sc. (by Research) programme in Physics and Theoretical Computer Science, as part of an integrated Ph.D. programme.

At SNBNCBS, graduates with B.Sc. (Physics) / B.E. / B.Tech. degree will be considered for the integrated Post-B.Sc.-Ph.D. programme in subject areas mentioned above.

At IIA, graduates with B.Sc. (Physics/Mathematics) / B.E. / B.Tech. degree will be considered for the integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D. programme in subject areas mentioned above.

Integrated M.Tech - Ph.D. Programme at IIA: At IIA, graduates with M.Sc. (Physics / Applied Physics) / B.E. / B.Tech. degree will be considered for the integrated M.Tech-Ph.D. programme in subject areas mentioned above. Details of the programme can be found on the IIA webpages.

Students who expect to complete their final examination by August 2009 are also eligible to apply.

Candidates for Physics / Theoretical Computer Science can apply for JEST-2009 ON-LINE by first registering themselves. Following registration, one can Login and fill in details in the ON-LINE application form.

Those who have difficulty in accessing internet may submit OFF-LINE (printed) application forms which can be obtained by writing to Coordinator, JEST-2009, Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre, 1/AF, Bidhan Nagar, Kolkata - 700 064, along with postage stamps of Rs. 60/- affixed on a self-addressed slip of approximate size of 20 cm x 15 cm. Last Date for requesting printed application forms is 8th December, 2008.

The filled application form should be sent back by Speed Post / Courier to the above address. There is no examination fee.

Tata Institute of Fundamental Research admissions 2009

Applications are invited for the following programme beginning from August 1, 2009:

2. Integrated Ph.D. Programme: in Mathematics (Bangalore) and Biology;

Eligibility: a. Mathematics:

M.Sc./B.E./B.Tech./M.Tech./M.A./B.A./B.Sc. degree holders or final year students with a consistently good academic record.

b. Physics / Chemistry:

M.Sc./B.E./B.Tech./M.Tech. degree holders or final year students. Fresh B.Sc. graduates or final year students with consistently good academic record and knowledge of advanced topics may also apply.

c. Biology:

i) Ph.D. Programme : M.Sc. in any basic science discipline, M.Sc. (Ag), B.Tech., B.E.,MBBS, B.V.Sc., BDS, B.Pharm. & M.Pharm.

ii) Integrated Ph.D. Programme or M.Sc.: B.Sc. in any basic science discipline/B.Sc. (Agriculture / Horticulture / Fishery).

(Final year students of all above degrees are eligible to apply.)

d. Computer & Systems Sciences:

B.E./B.Tech./M.E./M.Tech./M.Sc. (all relevant disciplines) degree holders or final year students with consistently strong academic record. Fresh B.Sc. students with an outstanding academic record and motivation for research.


Application procedure: a) Applications for Hall Ticket may be submitted online. Please refer appropriate link. Students who wish to apply online and make payment by DD may take a print of their application and send it with the Demand Draft with ther name and reference code written behind the DD.

b) Students from remote areas ONLY may apply for a Hall Ticket on plain paper stating :

(1) name, date of birth, address, telephone number, mobile number, e-mail address, subject of choice, preferred test centre and a detailed table of marks from 10th standard onwards.

(2) Two passport size photographs : One pasted and one stapled to the application.

(3) A Stamped (Rs.20/-) and self-addressed envelope (25cm x 17cm) superscribed “GS-2009 (Subject)”.

(4) Demand Draft.

Candidates may appear for the written test in multiple subjects if the timings do not clash. Please send a separate application (including Demand Draft) for each subject.

c) Payment Option :

1) Pay online by Debit/Credit Card.

2) Send DD by post along with application and other material.

● Biology : DD should be drawn on State Bank of India payable in Bangalore in favour of “National Centre for Biological Sciences”

f) Fee Waiver :

A waiver of the application fee on grounds of financial distress may be requested by a letter from the Principal or the Head of the Department justifying the request. Please not that applications with fee waiver request will be issued hall tickets as per availability of seats.

SAHA INSTITUTE OF NUCLEAR PHYSICS FELLOWSHIP IN BIOPHYSICAL SCIENCES

JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP IN BIOPHYSICAL SCIENCES (2008-2009 session)

Applications are invited for admission to the Post M.Sc. Junior Research Fellowship programme in Biophysical Science of the Institute. The 2008-2009 session will start in August 2008.

Research in interdisciplinary areas of Biology and Chemistry are done in Crystallography & Molecular Biology, Biophysics & Chemical Sciences Divisions, Structural Genomics Section & Electron Microscopy Facility of the Institute. For further details please see SINP Home Page/Biophysical Sciences.

WHO CAN APPLY?

Any students about to complete or having just completed Master's degree in Physical/Chemical/Biological Sciences (with any two of Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics at the Bachelor's degree level and at least 55% marks at all levels)

HOW DO WE SELECT?

The selection will be based on commendable academic records, written examination and interview. The written examination will test the candidate's General Aptitude and basic knowledge in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology. NET qualified Candidates with CSIR or UGC Fellowship may be directly called for interview provided they fulfill the minimum essential qualifications. Physics students who have qualified in JEST 2008 and have interest in Biophysical Sciences can also appear in the interview directly. Application forms, duly filled along with photocopies of relevant documents, must reach Establishment Section, Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, 1/AF Bidhannagar, Kolkata 700 064, by March 31, 2008.

FELLOWSHIP AND HOSTEL ACCOMMODATION

The fellowship is Rs. 12,000/-per month for the first two years and Rs. 14,000/-per month thereafter with a fixed book grant of Rs. 3000/- after one year. Hostel accommodation will be available. Medical benefit and House Rent Allowance as per rules will also be admissible.

TRAVEL ALLOWANCE

Candidates called for the Admission Test will be reimbursed return second class railway fare from their normal place of residence on production of railway ticket and will be paid haltage charge @ Rs.100/-, if applicable as per the rules of the Institute.
