Admissions based on CAT-2013 Score for short-listing the candidate followed by performance in GD & PI, work experience and academic record for selection.

Eligibility : Candidates should

Have a minimum academic qualification of 10+2 or its equivalent with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
Should appear in AIEEE 2010 examination being conducted by CBSE on 25th April, 2010
Submit a separate application to School of Petroleum Technology in the prescribed application form.

How to Apply :

Candidates will have to apply in the prescribed application form of School of Petroleum Technology. The Application form will be made available at the selected branches of Oriental bank of Commerce by paying Rs.1,200/- or by

Sending a Demand Draft of Rs.1,200/- in favour of "Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University" payable at Ahmedabad.

Selection Criteria :

The candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their AIEEE 2010 Rank. They will be called for counselling and will be offered admission in order of their merit (based on the AIEEE 2010 All India Ranking).

M.Tech. in Nuclear Engineering at PDPU

Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU)-School of Nuclear Energy

Announces admission to M.Tech. in Nuclear Engineering – 2009 - 2011 (2 year full time residential programme)

Eligibility-:
Regular Candidates (Individual applicants)
Candidates applying for the full-time M.Tech programme in Nuclear Engineering must have a B.E. /B.Tech degree in one of the following:

Mechanical Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Electronics Engineering
Instrumentation Engineering
Chemical Engineering
Civil Engineering
Industrial Engineering
Metallurgical engineering

Candidates having an M.Sc degree in Physics / Electronics may also apply.
Candidates must have secured a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% marks in their degree examination.

Company-sponsored candidates-:
Working executives who are sponsored by their organizations for the programme must satisfy the above criteria along with having a minimum industry experience of two years.

Admissions to the M.Tech programme in Nuclear Engineering will commence from 17th August, 2009. A candidate has to apply as prescribed in the application form available on the website.

Selection Process-:
The selection procedure for admission to the post-graduate programme is a two-stage process.

Stage I : Admission Test
An admission test will be conducted on Sunday, 27th September, 2009 at PDPU Campus.

Admission test will be common for all candidates. It will be based upon the fundamentals of Engineering, Physics, Mathematics. Duration of the test will be 1 hour. The test format will be objective-type; however, certain questions may need demonstration of calculations. The test would comprise of about 40-50 questions, out of which candidates are expected to attempt about 30 questions.

Stage II : GD & Personal Interview
Based on the performances in Stage I, applicants will be invited for a Personal Interview shortly after the admission test on Sunday, 27th September, 2009.

Other factors including academic rigor, significant achievements and/or work experience will be considered.

Final Admission List will be put up on the website on 28th September, 2009.

Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU), a research-led university, was established in 2007 by an Act of Gujarat State Legislature. The University is promoted by Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) as a unique public-private educational and research initiative. PDPU aims to be a leading global University to develop the knowledge of science, technology, management and environment for the advancement of quality of life of mankind in general, and in relation to the domains of gas and energy in particular. The University has strong support and association with oil & gas and allied energy industry including GSPC Group, Reliance, ONGC, GAIL, HPCL, BPCL, IOCL, Gujarat Gas, Schumberger and Halliburton, to name a few.

Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University has at present three Schools and a Centre. School of Petroleum Management offers MBA, PGDPM-X and Ph.D in Petroleum Management, School of Petroleum Technology offers B.Tech, M.Tech and Ph.D in Petroleum Engineering, School of Solar Energy offers Ph.D in Solar Energy, and Centre for Good Governance & Policy engages in governance and Policy-oriented projects. Faculty at PDPU is involved in teaching and research in diverse areas. In the coming years, PDPU also to have School of Nuclear Energy, School of Liberal Arts, School of Geosciences, School of Petroleum Law and Intellectual property and Centre of Energy Studies & Research.

The Purpose of the Programme is to train prosperactive scholars to become highly skilled and innovative researchers and teachers in various aspects of science, technology, management, humanities, arts and social science related to the energy sector. It primarily aims at preparing and motivating students for careers as academicians, researchers, scholars, entrepreneurs and thinkers. Candidates for the Ph.D degree must demonstrate substantial scholarship, high attainment in a particular field of knowledge, and the ability to carry out independent investigation and present the results in a dissertation.

Selection process for Ph.D students is designed with an aim to have students with a combination of academic excellence, leadership, research potential and individual background and perspective. The Process will evaluate all aspect of what the candidate can add to the future of education and research in areas of sciences, technology, management, humanities, arts and social science.

Selected Candidates as per the Ph.D programme shall be entitled for
• Research & Teaching Assistantship of Rs. 20,000/- to Rs. 25,000/- per month.
• Professional Development Assistantship of Rs. 15,000/- & Rs. 20,000/- per annum for
knowledge enrichment
• Professional Development Assistantship upto Rs. 1,00,000/- for presenting research
papers at National/International conferences.

The Ph.D Programme is Fully Residential Programme.
