IITB - Monash Research Academy PhD Scholarship
The IITB - Monash Research Academy (The Academy) is an exciting partnership between the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IITB) and Monash University, Melbourne (Australia) - two of the world's leading educational and research Institutions.
The Academy, has designed a jointly-badged Ph.D program in which students can undertake interdisciplinary research in several thematic areas focusing on the fields of Science, Technology and Engineering.
The Academy's June 2010 intake will focus on attracting top students to work in areas of applied research sponsored by Industrial partners.
The Academy is offering attractive Ph.D scholarships to suitable candidates. As a PhD student you will be based at The Academy in IIT Bombay. You will work with an elite team of academics and students on one of the following research themes :
Advanced computational engineering, simulation and manufacture
Infrastructure engineering
Clean Energy
Water
Nanotechnology
Biotechnology and Stem Cell Research
Candidates will :

Although not a prerequisite, candidates who have been highly placed in GATE or GRE should apply.

J.N. TATA Endowment Loan Scholarships 2010
Applications are invited from Indian nationals for the J. N. TATA ENDOWMENT LOAN SCHOLARSHIPS for the academic year 2010-2011 for higher studies abroad in all disciplines and subjects irrespective of course duration. The endowment awards only loan scholarships. However the selected scholars may also qualify for the gift awards. The amount to be awarded to each scholar by way of loan and gift scholarship ranges from Rs 1.50 lakh to Rs 8.00 lakh
Eligibility-:
Applicants who are:
I) Indian nationals; and
II) (a) graduates of a recognised Indian university with a consistently good academic record; or
(b) students in the final year of the degree course; or
(c) mid-career professionals upto the age of 45 years, planning to go abroad for further research, specialisation or training
At the time of submitting the completed applications, candidates need not have the admission / award letters from the universities to which they have applied for the academic year 2010-2011.
To Apply-:
Prescribed application forms will be available from the Administrative Office of the Endowment at Mulla House, 51 M.G. Road, Fort, Mumbai 400 001 from December 7, 2009 to February 15,2010.
The application fee of Rs.100/- can be paid in cash or by a Money Order on which the full name and address is to be mentioned to enable the Endowment to send the form.
Completed application forms should reach the office of the Endowment not later than March 1,2010.
After the initial screening of applications, candidates will be shortlisted for an interview in person by subject experts. The final selection will be made on the basis of the interview which will be held in Mumbai between March and June 2010.

Reserve Bank of India-RBI Scholarship Scheme for Faculty Members from Academic Institution.
The Reserve Bank of India invites full-time faculty members,teaching economics or finance in any UGC recognised institution in India to undertake short term research in the areas of monetary and financial economics,banking,real sector issues and other areas of interest to the Reserve Bank of India.
Objectives-:
1)To increase awareness about the activities of the Reserve Bank of India among faculty members and student community
2)To provide exposure to faculty members teaching economics and/or finance in different areas/activities in the Reserve Bank of India
Number of Scholarships-: A maximum of five
Selection Procedure-: The candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of research proposal of not more than 1000 words,curriculum vitae and interview by a selection panel
Duration of Project-: Flexible but not more than three months and/or be less that two months,commencing from May 2010
Location of Project-: Mainly at Central Office Departments in Mumbai

Submission of Application for the “SCHOLARSHIP FOR HIGHER EDUCATION (SHE)” - a
component of the `Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE)’ being implemented by the Department of Science Technology (DST), New Delhi.
About INSPIRE: Programme includes three components namely Scheme for Early Attraction of Talents for Science (SEATS), Scholarships for Higher Education (SHE) and Assured Opportunity for Research Careers (AORC). The Scheme SHE is focused on attraction of talent to study of natural/basic sciences at the bachelor and master’s level education. SHE is currently limited to support for educational programmes at B.Sc., B.Sc. (Hons), M.Sc. and integrated master’s level course in sciences
leading to MSc in any branch of natural and basic sciences namely mathematics, statistics, physics, chemistry, earth sciences and life sciences.
Applications are invited from eligible candidates for `Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE)’ component of INSPIRE. Total of 10,000 scholarships are available annually under SHE starting April 2008. The scholarships are limited only to the candidates studying courses in natural/basic sciences (B.Sc., B.Sc. (Hons), integrated M.Sc.) in any one of the recognized institutions in India. Eligibility criterion for the scholarships are a) performance in board examinations within the cutoff threshold (of top 1%) for each state or central board examination at the class X and class XII level and/or b) performance in any of the specified competitive examinations within stipulated cut off ranks. The eligible applicant must be already enrolled into degree level education in natural/basic sciences in any of the recognized institutions in India.
Eligibility for SHE:
a) Based on Performance in Board Examinations: The candidates should have obtained aggregate marks in the top 1% in the board examination at both class X and XII levels. For example, the candidates applying for INSPIRE Scholarship 2008 should have secured marks within the top 1% in class X in the year 2006 and class XII in 2008 in the respective board examinations and joined a degree course leading to B.Sc. or B.Sc. (Hons) of integrated M.Sc. in natural/basic sciences in any
institution in India in the year 2008 and returned to study of second year in the academic year 2009-10. Cut-off marks for various board examinations conducted in the years 2005, 2006 and 2007 for class X and corresponding year of 2007, 2008 and 2009 for class XII are listed in Table 1. The candidate securing top 1% marks only in class XII board examination can also submit the application form.
