AICTE Pragati & Saksham Scholarship 2021

The All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) has extended the last date for its scholarship initiatives Pragati, scheme for girls, and Saksham, scheme for specially-abled students. The last date to apply for the AICTE scholarship schemes is now 31 January 2021. AICTE is offering financial assistance of Rs 50,000 per year for those who get selected for these schemes.

AICTE Scholarship Schemes:

AICTE Pragati Scholarship Scheme for Girls (Degree and Diploma): This initiative is for female students who are in the first year of their technical degree or diploma, or the second year of degree or diploma level course through lateral entry in any of the AICTE approved institutions of the respective year, and nearly 5000 scholarships are disbursed under the scheme every year. Furthermore, all eligible girls who submit online scholarship form, from the following 13 union territories and North Eastern States will be given a scholarship by AICTE: Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Lakshadweep, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.

Saksham Scholarship Scheme for specially-abled Students (Degree and Diploma): This initiative is aimed at providing encouragement and support to specially-abled children to pursue technical education. Candidates who are in the first year of their technical degree or diploma or second year of degree or diploma level course through lateral entry in any of the AICTE approved institutions of the respective year can apply for the scheme. All eligible specially-abled students in any of the AICTE approved institutions will receive the scholarship.

Important Guidelines of AICTE Scholarship

  • Applicants’ family income should be less than Rs 8 lakhs per annum.
  • For the Saksham Scholarship Scheme for specially-abled students, applicants having disability of not less than 40% are eligible.
  • Candidates fulfilling the eligibility conditions are required to apply online on National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
  • The host institution where the applicant is studying is required to verify the online application.
  • The Department of Technical Education (DTE) of the respective State or UT will verify these applications as second level of scrutiny.
  • The scholarship will be renewed for the next year of study after the beneficiary submits their application for renewal through the National Scholarship Portal by submitting a passing certificate or marksheet along with letter from the Head of the Institution on the online portal.
  • The gap period between the year of passing the qualifying examination and the session of admission in degree course should not be more than two years.

OLM Malala Yousafzai Scholarship 2017-18 invites application for the women applicants only whose age should be 30 years or more who want to go back to school to start or continue interrupted studies in the Arts and Design field. It requires a 500 to 1000 words essay written in English about a challenge you have faced and how you overcame it. The selected women will be awarded $ 1000.

Times Spark Scholarship 2017 for 9th/10th/11th/12th students

Times of India invites applications for Times SPARK (Scholarship Program for Awareness Responsibility and Knowledge) Scholarship programme for students studying from 9th std to 12th std.

Times Spark is an initiative by Times of India to encourage students of classes 9 – 12 to develop a reading habit that helps them understand about our society and environment, so that they can go on to write the future.

The Times of India will carry engaging articles across a range of fields like current affairs, science and technology, sports, politics, social issues, global development etc. Over a span of 3 months, these articles will provide multi-dimensional perspectives to help you get a deeper understanding of various interesting subjects.

At the end, there would be an online test followed by an interview to assess your understanding and perspectives.
Scholarship Amount:

Upto 400 students will get an educational grant ranging from Rs. 1 Lakh to Rs. 2 Lakhs.

For the top 20, Bennett University will organise a special orientation program with its partner institutions – Cornell and Georgia Tech.

Eligibility for Times Spark Scholarship:

Students of class 9 to 12 can apply for this programme.

* Level 1 – Students with birthdate from 01-07-2001 to 30-06-2004
* Level 2 – Students with birthdate from 01-07-1998 to 30-06-2001

Goldman Sachs provides $75,000 funding to Educate Girls

Non-profit organisation Educate Girls has received a grant of USD 75,000 (about Rs 48.26 lakh) from leading global brokerage firm Goldman Sachs.

Educate Girls secured the funding as a team of analysts from the Bengaluru office of Goldman Sachs came at the second place in the "2017 Goldman Sachs Gives Global Analyst Impact Fund" competition.

The first place went to Kiron Open Higher Education, which is a Berlin-based non-profit which connects refugees to content, mentoring, and accreditation needed to achieve higher education.

The annual Analyst Impact Fund is an initiative that provides Goldman Sachs employees with the opportunity to collaborate with peers from across global offices to win a grant for a non-profit organisation of their choice and impact the communities where they live and work.

The funding comes from Goldman Sachs Gives, a donor- advised fund through which the investment bank and its current and retired senior employees provide grants to qualifying non- profit organisations globally.

Educate Girls is a Mumbai-based non-profit organisation that works towards improving enrolment, retention and learning outcomes for girls in some of the most rural and marginalised communities in India.

The Fair & Lovely Foundation provides scholarships worth up to Rs 1 lakh each year for deserving girl students from low-income families who display an excellent academic track record, as well as social initiative and drive. To date,the Foundation has given out more than 1000 scholarships to deserving applicants.

Eligibility :

* Candidates should have secured minimum 60% in the 10th and 12th standard
* Scholarship is open only to women with Indian citizenship - age no bar
* Candidates should want to pursue graduation, post graduation and PhD studies from Government Recognised Indian Universities
* Scholarship will be awarded solely as per the discretion of the panel of judges depending on the candidate's family income

L'OREAL India Young Women in Science Scholarships 2012

The Programme was instituted in 2003 and has consistently helped young women to pursue scientific research and development. A scholarship of Rs. 250,000/- each is granted to 10 promising young women and covers college fees for study in any scientific field in a recognized college or university in India.

The scholarship offered is upto a maximum of Rs. 2,50,000 , granted over a period of 4 years of study. The scholarship is not given as a loan. It is paid directly to the college and does not have to be refunded by the recipient.

This scholarship is open for study in any field of science: medicine, engineering, information technology, pharmacy, biotechnology, and other graduate courses pertaining to science (B.Sc) etc

A total of 5 such scholarships are granted each year.

The scholarship is open to all women under 19 years of age,who have completed their class XII examination with a minimum score of 85% in PCM/PCB

UGC Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Girl Child Post Graduate Education 2011

Compensating direct costs of girl education to all levels especially for such girls who happen to be the only girl child in their family.the objectives of the proposed scheme of the UGC are to support post-graduate education of single girl child in non-professional courses only.The value of scholarship is Rs.2000/- per month for a period of two years only. No other additional grant will be payable in lieu of hostel charges and medical charges etc.

Eligibility:

i) Any single girl child of her parents. In a family if one son and one daughter is available then girl child will not be considered for scholarship under the scheme.
ii) The scheme is applicable to such a single girl child who has taken admission in regular, full-time 1st year Masters Degree course in any recognized university or a post graduate college.
iii)This scholarship is available to PG-I year student only.
iv) Admission to PG Course in distance education mode is not covered under the scheme.

Age: Girl students up to the age of 30 years at the time of admission in PG courses are eligible.

The Fair & Lovely Scholarships assists deserving women in pursuing their educational goals. It is an initiative taken for all those who have the aptitude, drive and ambition but are bound by financial constraints. The Scholarship provides a voice to the talent that would have gone unnoticed and opinions that would never have been heard. It is an ongoing endeavor to give women the privilege of a formal education and over 600 women till date have benefited from this opportunity.

For the sixth year since inception, we once again invite applications for scholarships from young women across India. Candidates can get a scholarship of up to Rs. 1 lakh to pursue their graduation, post graduation and doctorate studies in India.

Eligibility-:

1. Scholarships are awarded to women only.

2. For Fair & Lovely Scholarships, candidates must:
a. Have cleared HSC and must have secured at-least 60% marks in their 10th and 12th examination
b. Have working knowledge of English language

3. Scholarships are awarded solely at the discretion of our panel of Judges

The application form is available by mid each year. The scholarship application form can be downloaded from here. Candidates have to fill all the required details in the application form and provide attested copies of all documents listed. You can also apply online from the website.

Renewal of Scholarship

Past beneficiaries of the Fair & Lovely Foundation Scholarships can now renew their scholarships for more assistance in further education.

To process your renewal application you need to send the following documents:

1. Mark sheets of your last academic year.
2. A letter from your Principal / HOD on your performance.
3. A Statement of Purpose which should not be more than 250-300 words and should state how you have benefited from the Fair & Lovely Foundation Scholarship and how would you make the most of this opportunity provided to you again.
