CyberPeace Foundation Cybersecurity Programme

CyberPeace Foundation a think tank and grassroots NGO of cyber security and policy experts, launched a joint initiative training programme on cyber peace and cybersecurity with the Ministry of Education and AICTE in collaboration with industry, academia, government and civil societies.

The aim of the programme is to address the issues that have trailed in the wake of technological advancement such as cybercrimes, harassment, abuse and radicalization and to build a secure ecosystem of cybersecurity communities where the internet will become a strength instead of a liability or weakness for the youth of the country.

Other objectives include researching the problems faced online and developing innovative solutions to these problems in addition to enabling the youth to expand their knowledge and skills on the internet.

As a part of the programme, 50 CyberPeace Clubs will engage 5 lakhs students and educators in CyberPeace and cybersecurity activities such as Hackathons, Global CyberPeace Challenge and eRaksha competitions.

Student development initiatives such as Volunteer Induction workshops and awareness workshops involving participants in techno-social research, CyberPeace talks in collaboration with industry, academia and civil societies, online communities for engaging interactions and the support of the youth and the establishment of a network of 25,000 CyberPeace Corps volunteers will all constitute essential segments of the programme.

Some of the topics that will be covered are -- digital citizenship, digital rights and responsibilities, cyber ethics and digital etiquette, cyber health and wellness, misinformation, cyber laws and reporting and new technologies such as block chain, IoT Security and AI.

Delhi University to Launch PGD Cyber Security and Law

Delhi University (DU) will soon be launching a post graduate diploma in Cyber Security and Law.

According to reports, the programme caters to the niche domain of cyber security with a unique combination of cyber laws.

The course is likely to start from February next year and classes will commence from March

The course will be held in two semesters will six papers in each

The programme intends to produce professionals who can administer security for varied virtual platforms, banks, social media, industrial applications, mobile data and cloud interface.This course will be offered by the Department of Operational Research, Department of Computer Science, and Department of Commerce.

IGNOU Post Graduate Certificate in Cyber Law (PGCCL) programme is offered in two modes, both distance and online

The PGCCL programme enables the learner to understand, explore, and acquire a critical understanding of cyber law, develop competencies for dealing with frauds and deceptions (confidence tricks, scams) and other cyber crimes like, child pornography etc. that has been taking place via Internet.

This programme is offered in two modes, both distance and online. Learners can choose their mode of study. The online platform is available at www.ignouonline.ac.in/vel which has several innovative features like walk in admission, integrated multimedia courseware, e-counselling, online examination and assignment management system. Facility for online payment gateway is also available for registration. Once registered, the learners will have access to personalized learning space.

The six months programme can be completed in a maximum time period of two years. A graduate in any discipline or fourth and fifth year students of five year integrated LLB course having passed three years are also eligible to pursue this programme.

The last date to apply for this programme is 30th July 2012 without late fee and 14th August 2012 with late fee of Rs.200. IGNOU & C-DAC to offer PG in ICTE

IGNOU & C-DAC to offer PG in ICTE

IGNOU and C-DAC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to offer post graduate degree programmes in advanced areas of Information and Communication Technology and Electronics (ICTE) at the various C-DAC centres.

The objective of this MoU is to develop full/ flexi time diploma, M.Tech degree programme and research programmes leading to Ph.D. and M.S. by research of IGNOU at C-DAC centres. It aims to undertake joint research programmes in ICTE areas and apply for funding from National and/ or International agencies.

Programmes in M.Tech/ M.S. on Cyber Forensics, M.Tech in Microelectronics and VLSI system are ready for launch while M.Tech/ MS in high performance computing and M.Tech/MS in IT with specialization in software technologies and enterprise architecture are still in the pipeline.

According to the MoU, the M.Tech degree programme would normally consist of specific set of course work for one year, followed by a project of one-year duration. Sufficient flexibility will be incorporated to intersperse the project and the course work for maximum effectiveness.

Provision will also be made to convert course credits to diploma/ certificate program. Some of these courses can be offered as diploma/ certificate programmes with focused specialisation. The collaboration would also lead to effective national/ international workshops, conferences, seminars, symposiums and publish the proceedings thereof.
