The Indo-US Science and Technology Forum-IUSSTF in association with Science and Engineering Research Board-SERB of Department of Science and Technology-DST Government of India announces the Indo-US Research Fellowships with the objective to enable young researchers from India to carry out research in frontier areas of science and technology at a premier institution in USA

Eligibility Criteria for Indo-US Research Fellowship
Academic Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Science, Engineering,Technology or Medicine.

Applicants must provide proof of independent research work in internationally recognized academic journals.

Age: Upto 40 years as on 31 December 2012

Employment: A permanent position in a public funded R&D lab/ S&T institution (non-private)/ recognized universities/colleges in India

Area of Work: Area proposed by the candidate should be clearly defined as:

* Atmospheric and Earth Sciences
* Chemical Sciences
* Engineering Sciences
* Life Sciences
* Medical Sciences
* Mathematical and Computational Sciences
* Physical Sciences

Place of Work : The applicant should have letter or acceptance from reputed US scientific/technological institution where the applicant will be undertaking the research work under the Fellowship

Fellowship includes :

* Stipend of US $ 3000 per month
* Preparatory allowances
* Return airfare
* Conference allowances

Stanford-India Biodesign Internship Program 2012

Applications are invited for a 3-month internship in Stanford-India Biodesign (SIB) program at SIB center, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi.

SIB is a collaborative program between AIIMS, IIT Delhi and Stanford Biodesign, Stanford University, USA The goal of the program is to train the next generation of medical device innovation pioneers for India through hands on real-world projects of low-cost medical device innovation run by teams of SIB Fellows with support from consultants and interns. The program brings together engineers, doctors, product designers and business professionals on to one team to ensure successful identification, invention and implementation of solutions in the real world. The program is funded by Dept. of Biotechnology and Indo-US Science & Technology Forum.

This is an intensive 3 month program (extendable) consisting of hands-on training in Stanford’s pioneering Biodesign process for inventing medical technologies as the interns work on real world projects. It offers an opportunity to work in a unique, creative work culture.

Eligibility:
Both experienced professionals and fresh graduates with masters (preferred)/ bachelors in Engineering, Design, Medicine, Bioengineering, or business are encouraged to apply, with age not exceeding 40 yrs. Candidates with entrepreneurial aspirations are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to mechanical engineers and product designers for this year’s program.

Duration: 15th April 2012 to 15th July 2012 (Full time)

Stipend: Monthly stipend of Rs. 20,000/-. No additional allowances.

Indo-US Research Fellowship for Indian Researchers

The objective of the Indo-US Research Fellowship Program for Indian Researchers is to introduce scientists and engineers in the early stages of their careers to international collaborative research opportunities, thereby furthering their research capacity and global perspective and forging long-term relationships with scientists, technologists and engineers in USA.

These awards will provide an excellent opportunity to young Indian scientists and technologists of all disciplines, under the age of 40 years to interact with the American scientific community and get first hand information of the developments taking place at the international level and acquaint themselves with new scientific research methods and to collaborate in a larger research project. It will enable young Indian researchers to carry out a clearly defined research project at a place of their choice in USA upto a period of 12 months. The individual availing this fellowship would be called as an IUSSTF Research Fellow.

Stanford India Biodesign International Fellowships 2011

One year Fellowship (starting January 2011) full time at the Stanford University, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. Fellows will receive tuition, stipend, travel and health benefits. Fellows are mentored by experts in the US and India. The SIB Fellowship Programme is sponsored by the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, and Stanford University USA in partnership with the Indo-US Science and Technology Forum.

Indian citizen able to devote full one year at the Stanford University USA and the SIB Centre, AIIMS New Delhi, Candidates with graduate or postgraduate (engineers, doctors, business professionals and others) having passion for invention and early-stage development of new medical technologies addressing the clinical needs in India.
