IGNOU B.SC Nursing Admissions 2013


IGNOU offers Post Basic Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in Nursing admission commencing in the session 2013-14.

The preperation and launching of Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing degree programme has been agreed upon by
IGNOU, at the request of Indian Nursing Council.

Programme structure: The University follows the credit system for its various Degree programmes. Each credit amounts to 30 hours
of study comprising all learning activities. Thus a four credit course involves 120 study hours and an eight credit course involves 240 study hours. To complete the Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing Programme successfully, student will have to earn 108 credits over a period of 3 to 5 years depending on her/his convenience.

The Post Basic Bachelor of Science in Nursing is a three year Degree programme. This course has two major components: theory and practicals. It is divided into 22 courses; 11 theory and 11 practical.

Eligibility criteria:
10+2 with three years Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) with minimum of two years experience in the profession. . (For male nurses or nurses who have not done midwifery in the GNM programme should have a certificate in any of the nursing courses of 6-9 months duration prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council in lieu of midwifery).

OR

10th class (Matriculation) or its equivalent with three years Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) with minimum of five years experience in the profession. (For male nurses or nurses who have not done midwifery in the GNM Programme should have a certificate in any of the nursing courses of 6-9 months duration prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council in lieu of midwifery).

IGNOU Post Basic B.Sc Nursing Programme (Opennet - I)

The university will be admitting the students for the Post Basic Nursing Programme starting from January 2012 through an Entrance Test - Opennet - I to be held on Sunday the 21st August 2011 all over the country.

Eligibility :
10+2 with three years Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) with minimum of two years of experience in the profession (For make nurses or nurses who have not done midwifery in the GNM Programme should have a certificate in any of the nursing courses of 6-9 months duration prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council in lieu of midwifery.

Student Handbook and Prospectus can be obtained from the Registrar (SRD), IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi - 110 068 and from all the Regional Centres of IGNOU whose addresses are given below by sending a sum of Rs.550/- through a Demand Draft in favour of IGNOU payable at New Delhi/ city of concerned Regional centre or by paying Rs.500/- in cash at the respective sale counters. Please write your name and address on the back of the DD. Last date for receipt of request for "PROSPECTUS" by post is 30th June, 2011.

Application form and prospectus can also be downloaded from the website. www.ignou.ac.in and sent along with the DD for Rs.550/- in favour of IGNOU payable at New Delhi. Prospectus will be sent to such applicants after receipt of Rs.550/- as explained above.

Age: Max.35 years for DML and 30 years for the remaining courses, relaxation as per Govt. rules (No age limit for sponsor candidates)

Entrance Examination: Selection of candidates will be based on the All India Entrance Examination Test based on MCQ Pattern to be held on 10th July 2011 (Sunday) at the Institute. No Entrance Test for Sponsored Candidates.

National consortium for Ph.D in Nursing has been constituted by Indian Nursing Council (INC) in collaboration with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, Karnataka under the Faculty Nursing to promote doctoral Education in Nursing.

Applications are invited from candidates for enrolment for part time Ph.D in Nursing.
