IGNOU invites application for the award of IGNOU-Research Fellowship (IGNOU-RF) from full time students of M.Phil/Ph.D programme in IGNOU. The fellowships shall be awarded under following categories :

1. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Fellowship for Male Scholars
2. Savitri Bai Phule Fellowship for Female Scholars

Guidelines regarding eligibility criteria and other terms and conditions related to IGNOU-RF are available on IGNOU website for ready reference.

The objective of the IGNOU-RF scheme is to provide opportunities to research students who have no other financial support
to undertake research leading to M.Phil/Ph.D degree in the disciplines offered by IGNOU.

The Scheme will be available only to those candidates who are already registered and pursuing M.Phil/Ph.D Programme in IGNOU on full time basis.

IGNOU Research Degree Programmes in various Disciplines for January 2014 Cycle.

A candidate seeking registration in the Research Degree Programmes (MPhil/PhD) must hold a Master’s Degree in the relevant Discipline/Areas or other equivalent qualification.

The candidate should have secured at least 55% marks in the Master’s Degree (50% for Reserved Category).

An Entrance Examination (ENTEX-01) shall be conducted on all-India basis at examination centers located in various regions. Candidates with only Post graduate Qualification (with a minimum of 55% marks in the Master’s Degree/50% for Reserved Categories) will have to appear in ENTEX-01. In addition, select Disciplines may prescribe Entrance Examination for all the candidates even if they have additional qualifications.

Candidates qualifying in the Entrance Examination will have to appear in an Interview at IGNOU Headquarters.

Candidates holding Master’s Degree with 55% (50% for Reserved Category) and MPhil/UGC-NET/SLET/JEST of DAE/GATE of IIT or equivalent examination or have Professional/Work Experience as prescribed by the Discipline may be exempted from the Entrance Examination

All applicants will attach a research proposal prepared as per guidelines and instructions in application form without which the application is liable to be rejected. This condition is applicable even on candidates taking ENTEX-01.

The last date for receipt of filled-in Application Form at IGNOU, New Delhi is 8th August 2013. Date of ENTEX-01 is 8th September 2013.

Those holding M.Phil. degree or having cleared JEST of DAE or UGC-NET or GATE of IIT or those having at least five years of related Teaching/Practical/Industry/Professional experience as validated by the respective disciplines may be exempted from appearing in the entrance examination. However, additional eligibility conditions have been prescribed by individual disciplines.

a) For Stream ‘A’:
i) At least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST Stream) in Masters Degree from a duly recognized University/Institution.
ii) Candidates with M.Phil. or 5 years teaching/professional experience may be exempted by the Doctoral Committee from undergoing Course Work (worth 32 Credits and a minimum of one year duration). However, they cannot claim this exemption on the basis of having M.Phil degree/5 year teaching/professional experience unless such candidates possess knowledge and skills in the area of research proposed by him/her.

For Stream A: Faculty of Psychology will shortlist the candidates. Subsequently, all the short-listed candidates will be called for Interview before the Doctoral Committee.

IGNOU also offers Research Fellowships to students who are not receiving any financial support for pursuing Ph.D. These Fellowships are tenable only at IGNOU. The admission to M.Phil./Ph.D. Programmes of the University is offered through two parallel streams. The eligibility conditions in these streams are as given below:

Stream A: Candidates must have 55% marks at the Post-Graduation level (50% for reserved category) and should have obtained the M.Phil. Degree.
OR
Candidates must have 55% marks at Post-Graduation level (50% for reserved category) and should additionally have at least five years of relevant teaching / professional experience after having obtained the Post-Graduate Degree.

Stream B: Candidates must have 55% at Post-Graduate level (50% for reserved category) and should have qualified the Entrance Test of IGNOU.
Note: 1. Candidates having qualified in the UGC NET/ JRF / JEST / GATE or such equivalent examination will be exempted from the Entrance Test.

Some Disciplines have prescribed specific eligibility criteria in addition to the one stated above. These will be applicable in relevant cases.
