IGNOU Online One Year Post Graduate Diploma in Sustainability Science-PGDSS Admissions 2013


IGNOU Online PG Diploma in Sustainability Science,an inter-and multidisciplinary programme, have contents drawn from environmental sciences, ecology, economics, anthropology, humanity and social sciences. The ethics, economics, equity, energy, employment and education are the basic components, and the issues concerning population, anthropogenic pressure on planet Earth, the threats such as climate change, free but not fair trade etc. have also been addressed. Emphasis on essential policy requirements has been made with reference to the ecological, social and economic dimensions of sustainable development.

Eligibility :
* Graduates in any discipline.

* Policy makers, administrators, scientists and educators as well as general public interested in paradigm shift from the present unsustainable to sustainable development.

The programme is offered for July Session only. The students seeking admission may get application forms as per the university schedule for admission to July cycle at the concerned Regional Centre. IGNOU Online Biodiversity Programme January 2013

IGNOU Online Appreciation Programme on Sustainable Management of Biodiversity for the January 2013 session

The programme will provide an appreciation/understanding of the science underpinning biodiversity and will target the growing need for expertise in sustainable management of biodiversity in a changing climate and the need for mainstreaming these issues in the development planning and poverty reduction. It will promote awareness and capacity building for sustainable management of biodiversity for mainstreaming biodiversity into the daily lives of individuals.

Eligibility : Graduation degree in any subject. The post graduate students, researchers, scientists, engineers, medical doctors, stake holders, policy makers, administrators, and other professionals with requisite educational qualifications will be given preference.

The Appreciation Programme on Sustainable Management of Biodiversity shall be available online on the SAVE (Sustainable Action and Virtual Education) Platform. It is a complete virtual learning environment suite covering all the activities from registration to Programme Delivery

IGNOU Online Programme in Sustainable 2012

IGNOU's Chair for Sustainable Development (CSD) announces admission for its two online programmes, viz, Appreciation Programme on Sustainability Science (APSS) and Appreciation Programme on Sustainable Management of Wetlands (APSMW).

The core objective of APSS programme is to build the capacity of policy makers, administrators, scientists and educators as well as the general public in environmentally, economically and socially sustainable development. It will help those involved in agriculture to launch an era of ever-green revolution which can help enhance productivity in perpetuity without ecological harm.

APSMW,online programme aims to provide introduction to the importance of wetlands, the cause of their degradation, restoration efforts and sustainable management. It enhances awareness on the role of wetlands on social, cultural and livelihood dimensions of the dependent communities.

The eminent Agricultural Scientist and father of green revolution in India, Prof. M.S. Swaminathan is the Honorary Chair. The main objective of the Chair is to develop and promote Education for Sustainable Development in India and capacity building in Sustainability Science.

Programme Objective: To build the capacity of policy makers, administrators, scientists and educators as well as the general public in the science and art of environmentally, economically and socially sustainable development.
