IGNOU Online One Year Post Graduate Diploma in Sustainability Science-PGDSS Admissions 2013


IGNOU Online PG Diploma in Sustainability Science,an inter-and multidisciplinary programme, have contents drawn from environmental sciences, ecology, economics, anthropology, humanity and social sciences. The ethics, economics, equity, energy, employment and education are the basic components, and the issues concerning population, anthropogenic pressure on planet Earth, the threats such as climate change, free but not fair trade etc. have also been addressed. Emphasis on essential policy requirements has been made with reference to the ecological, social and economic dimensions of sustainable development.

Eligibility :
* Graduates in any discipline.

* Policy makers, administrators, scientists and educators as well as general public interested in paradigm shift from the present unsustainable to sustainable development.

The programme is offered for July Session only. The students seeking admission may get application forms as per the university schedule for admission to July cycle at the concerned Regional Centre. IGNOU Online Biodiversity Programme January 2013

IGNOU Online Appreciation Programme on Sustainable Management of Biodiversity for the January 2013 session

The programme will provide an appreciation/understanding of the science underpinning biodiversity and will target the growing need for expertise in sustainable management of biodiversity in a changing climate and the need for mainstreaming these issues in the development planning and poverty reduction. It will promote awareness and capacity building for sustainable management of biodiversity for mainstreaming biodiversity into the daily lives of individuals.

Eligibility : Graduation degree in any subject. The post graduate students, researchers, scientists, engineers, medical doctors, stake holders, policy makers, administrators, and other professionals with requisite educational qualifications will be given preference.

The Appreciation Programme on Sustainable Management of Biodiversity shall be available online on the SAVE (Sustainable Action and Virtual Education) Platform. It is a complete virtual learning environment suite covering all the activities from registration to Programme Delivery

The major objective of APSS is to build the capacity of policy makers, administrators, scientists and educators as well as general public in the science and art of environmentally, economically and socially sustainable development while that of APSMW is to enhance awareness on the role of wetlands on social, cultural and livelihood dimensions of the dependent communities.

IGNOU New Online Programme on Biodiversity 2012

IGNOU launched a new online Appreciation Programme on Sustainable Management of Biodiversity (APSMB) for July 2012 session.

The programme shall be available online on the SAVE (Sustainable Action and Virtual Education) platform. it is a complete virtual learning environment suite covering all the activities form registration to programme delivery.

Programme Objectives : The conservation and sustainable use of biological diversity and the eradication of extreme poverty are two of the main global challenges. It has been recognized by the international community that these two challenges are intimately connected, and require a coordinated response. The sustainable management of biodiversity is one of the most important challenges facing humanity; one that requires the active participation of dedicated professionals who are committed to the interdisciplinary nature of the subject. Our generation has the unenviable task of making hard, possibly irrevocable, decisions on sustainable management of biodiversity at local, regional and international levels. In this context, the aim of this Appreciation programme is to provide a critical and conceptually sophisticated understanding of biodiversity science and the socio-economic, political, cultural and institutional environments within which sustainable management of Biodiversity and policy decisions are made. This programme promote awareness and capacity building for sustainable management of biodiversity for mainstreaming biodiversity into the daily lives of individuals, recreating the relationship between people and nature, securing the linkages between forests, rivers, and the sea and taking actions in a global context.

Eligibility : Graduates in any discipline or its equivalent.

IGNOU Online Leadership Programme on Nutrition Security and sustainable Development for November 2010 Session

Objective : To sensitise and guide policy makers and the programme leaders to rely More on evidence based programming for achieving Nutrition Security and sustainable Development.

Duration and Eligibility : This one month duration programme will be conducted online and graduates in any discipline are eligible for admission.
