DBT-Research Associateship 2017-2018

Applications are invited from Indian Nationals for the award of “DBT-Research Associatcship” for pursuing research in frontier areas of Biotechnology and applied biology. The Associateship is tenable in Research Institution/ Universities including non-profit R&D Institutions within India. The Associateships are awarded under a program sponsered by the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.

Eligibility :

The applicants should hold a Ph.D degree in Science, Engineering or M.D or M.S. (Medicine) degree in any area of medicine with research interests in Biotechnology and Life Sciences and a good academic record. The Associatcship can be availed within 2 years of the award of Ph.D./M.D./M.S. (Medicine) degree; however, may be relaxable (by 2 years) in case of in-service candidates. Those who have already submitted the Ph.DJM.DJM.S. (Medicine) thesis are also eligible to apply (attach proof of submission from the Registrar / Controller of examinations). The applicants should be below the age of 40 years and 45 years in case of women and in-service candidates. Persons already employed arc also eligible to apply. However, their applications should be routed through their employers.

Award details :

The Research Associateship is a purely temporary assignment and is tenable for a period of 2 years. In exceptional cases, depending upon the progress of the research, the Associateship may be extended upto 5 years. In both cases, renewal is subject to satisfactory annual academic progress. Each fellow would be entitled to a stipend in the range of Rs.36,000-40,000/- per month and a research contin ency grant of Rs.50,000 per year, payable to the host Institution. Candidates who are yet to be awarded the Ph.D./M.D./M.S. (Medicine) dcgrcc, if selected will be paid Rs.28,000/- per month till award of the degree. The associate would also be entitled to HRA and other benefits as per the DST guidelines applicable to Research Associatcship. The Associateships normally are not availed at the same Institution where candidates have earned their Ph.D./M.D./M.S. (Medicine) degree or with the doctoral thesis supervisor or continue on doctoral thesis work.

Selection procedure :

The candidates will be selected based on their C.V. and performance in the interview. The interview will be held at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, in November 2017.

HLL Academy, the academic wing of the central public sector enterprise HLL Lifecare Ltd, has announced two new courses, in clinical engineering and in management, as part of efforts to address the shortage of skilled manpower faced by the healthcare sector in these two key areas.

HLL Academy is offering a Post Graduate Diploma Course in Clinical Engineering and Management (PGDCEM) and a Post Diploma Course in Clinical Engineering and Management (PCEM) for graduate engineers and diploma holders.

The one-year courses will cover different aspects of product development, production, quality control, and marketing of various pharmaceuticals, medical devices and services.

The programmes will be offered through distance education supported by contact classes and will comprise two semesters of six months each. The curriculum has been designed to fulfil the requirements of healthcare institutions, procurement service agencies and equipment manufacture

CSIR - IIIM invites application for admission to Ph.D. programme in the relevant areas of research in the Institute.

Conditions for eligibility - M.Sc. or equivalent degree in Life Sciences / Biotechnology / Chemistry / Pharmaceutical sciences and qualified in CSIR-UGC-NET, ICMR, DBT examination for Junior Research Fellowship. The fellowship should be valid as on the date of joining. Candidates appearing in final exams in 2011 and who have cleared the above exams for JRF can also apply.

How to Apply - Candidates need to fill up the application form till 18th May, 2011 that can be downloaded from the Institute's website. Applications should be sent by email to phd_programme@iiim.ac.in as an attachment. Hard copy of the application along with photocopies of certificates of date of birth, educational qualifications and proof of qualifying JRF examination should be sent by post/by hand to Chairman, Academic Affairs Committee, Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine, Canal Road, Jammu - 180 001 so at to reach latest by 25th May, 2011. Applications without hardcopy submission of documents will not be considered.

Selection process - All applicants will be screened by a committee and only those candidates who are found suitable will be called for interview / counselling at IIIM, Jammu. The committee can set their own criteria for short listing the candidates. No TA / DA will be paid for attending the interview. The number of students to be selected will depend on the vacancies available with scientists at IIIM.
