IISER TVM Ph.D Admission 2018

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Thiruvananthapuram has invited applications for admission to PhD Programme for the academic session 2018. Eligible candidates can apply latest by October 10.
Educational qualification:

Candidates should have acquired a Master's degree (A five-year degree after +2 level) in biological sciences/chemical sciences/physical sciences/ mathematics/bioinformatics/agricultural sciences/veterinary sciences or a bachelor degree in medicine.

Selection procedure:

Candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in the interview. According to the official notification, there will be two rounds of interviews, conducted over three days. In case of a high turnout of candidates (more than 75), an entrance exam will be conducted (based on Master's level biology questions for 70 per cent and class 12 level physics, math, chemistry questions-together 30 per cent) on the first day of interviews.

Hence, all the short-listed candidates must report at IISER-TVM on the first day of the interviews.

The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Mohali has invited applications from eligible candidates for admission to Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) programme offered in the areas of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Earth & Environmental Science and Humanities& Social Sciences for the session January, 2016.

Eligibility Criteria: The applicant should have a Masters degree/ B.Tech/ MBBS/ M.Tech with a good academic record and should be GATE/ CSIR or UGC-NET/ JEST/ NBHM-JRF/JGEEBILS (TIFR/NCBS)/ GPAT/ ICMR-JRF/ DBT-JRF/DST-INSPIRE qualified in the relevant subject.

Detailed criteria set by individual departments for PhD admissions:

Department of Biological Sciences:
The applicant should have M. Sc./ B. Tech/ MBBS/ M. Tech or equivalent degree and should have a valid GATE(Life Sciences/ Biotechnology/ Ecology and Evolution) / CSIR-UGC-NET/ JGEEBILS (TIFR/ NCBS)/ ICMR/ DBT/ DST-Inspire fellowship.

Department of Chemical Sciences:
The applicant should have M. Sc. degree in Chemistry/ Physics (with a minimum of 55% marks) or equivalent degree and should have a valid NET/ GATE/ DST-Inspire fellowship in Chemistry/ Physics.

Department of Mathematical Sciences:
The applicant must have qualified one of the following examinations GATE/CSIR-UGC-NET/NBHM-JRF with Mathematics as the primary subject. Applicants who have obtained the DST-INSPIRE fellowship must have taken Mathematics as their primary subject during their Master's programme.

Department of Physical Sciences:
The applicant should have a Master degree in Physics or a Bachelors/Masters degree in Engineering, and should have a valid GATE/ CSIR-UGC-NET/ JEST/ DST-Inspire fellowship in Physics.

Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences:
The applicant should have M. Sc./ B. Tech/ M. Tech in Atmospheric Sciences/ Earth and Environmental Sciences/ Chemistry/ Physics and should have a valid GATE/ CSIR-UGC-NET/ DST-Inspire fellowship.

Department of Humanities and Social Sciences:
The applicant should have M.A. / M.Sc. / M.Phil degree (with a minimum of 55% marks) in one or more of the following subjects: Philosophy (Ethics, Indian Philosophy, Analytical Philosophy and Philosophy of Science) / Sociology / Anthropology / Modern Indian History / Archaeology / Prehistory / Paleoanthropology / Ancient Indian History (Cultural Heritage Studies) / Gender studies / Geography or related areas such as Development studies, South Asian studies. UGC/NET/GATE or any other national level eligibility test is required.

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Bhopal, invites applications for admissions to Phd programme for 2014 session.

Disciplines: Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Mathematics, and Physics.

Eligibility : M.Sc/M.Tech Degree in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA of 7.0 along with a valid GATE/UGC/

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research- IISER Pune Admissions to Integrated PhD in Biological Sciences 2014

IISER Pune, has adopted the Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JGEEBILS) as one of the criteria to induct students into the iPhD program. JGEEBILS is administered by TIFR and will be conducted at multiple centers across India.

Applications for JGEEBILS must be submitted online to http://univ.tifr.res.in/gs2014/Apply_Online/Apply_Online.htm Please select the option “Applying for Biology”. This exam will be held on Sunday, December 8th, 2013.

Eligible students need to apply to IISER Pune iPhD program in Biology by filling out an application form that will be made available through this website in January 2014. In the IISER application form, please fill in your JGEEBILS roll number and score, without which the system will not accept your application.

Applications are invited for Ph.D programme for the spring semester beginning in January 2013

Application are invited from motivated students with masters degrees in any branch of Biological Sciences , Chemical Sciences , Mathematics and Statistics , Physical Sciences and Earth Sciences.

The Research fellows may have to do course work and laboratory rotations during first semester depending on which Department they join. The course content will be decided by the Department concerned for each student according to his / her need. Ph. D. Supervisor will be selected only after the course work/Laboratory rotation.

IISER Dual BS-MS Programme 2011

5-Year Integrated Dual BS-MS Programme at IISERs at Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Pune and Thiruvananthapuram for the academic session 2011-12

* The dual degree BS-MS in an integrated five year course after 12th standard
* The first two years will have core courses in basic sciences
* Third and fourth years will be dedicated to specialization in chosen subject
* Fifth year will be devoted to a research project
* The students are trained to join R&D institutions,academia and science-based industries such as pharmaceuticals,biotechnology,electronics,materials and polymer industries,etc

Eligibility-:

Candidates satisfying at least one of the following three criteria may apply:

1. KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana): Students qualified in SA (2009)/ SX(2010)/ SB(2010)/SP (passed 10+2 in 2010/2011).

2. IIT-JEE 2011: Students obtaining a minimum of 60% marks in Class XII and securing a rank in the regular merit list.

3. STATE/ CENTRAL BOARDS (DIRECT ADMISSION): Students qualifying in Class XII in 2010 or 2011 in Science stream. The State/ Central Boards must be recognized by the MHRD.

Scholarships-:
All IISER Students will receive either KVPY/INSPIRE Scholarship of Rs.5000/-p.m

Admissions to Ph.D programme beginning in August 2010 at IISER Thiruvananthapuram

Eligibility-:
Masters degree in Physical/Chemical/Biological Sciences (including Veterinary and Agricultural Sciences)/Mathematics/Statistics (minimum 60% marks or equivalent, relaxable by 5% for SC/ST candidates). Qualifying in one of the following tests with validity as on 1st of August 2010 :GATE/JEST/NBHM/CSIR-UGC-JRF/ICMR JRF/DBT JRF

Satisfying the eligibility criteria does not entitle the candidate to be shortlisted. Shortlisting is based on their academic performance including but not limited to performance in the national qualifying tests. The shortlisted candidates will be called for a test/interview.

Scholarship: JRFs of CSIR/UGC/ICMR/DBT etc. will draw fellowship and contingency according to the granting Institutions. The other qualified candidates will draw scholarship of Rs.12000/- p.m. from IISER-TVM.

Students registered for the Ph.D. Programme at IISER-TVM are required to take a minimum of four courses and clear the Comprehensive Examination to be eligible to continue with the research programme.

APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED FOR THE INTEGRATED PH.D PROGRAMME FOR THE ACADEMIC SESSION 2009-10

Eligibility-:
Students with a B. Sc/B.E/B.Tech/M.B.B.S degree from any recognized university/institute/ College can apply for the Integrated Ph. D programme in Biological, Chemical, Earth, Mathematical and Physical Sciences. They need to secure a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent grades in their qualifying examinations. Those who are appearing in the final examination of their degree course can also apply; for them, the eligibility marks are 60% in aggregate, based on the marks obtained in the undergraduate examinations held so far.
Students applying for an Integrated Ph. D Programme are required to have the following subject(s) in the undergraduate courses:

Applications should be made in the prescribed application form [ doc, pdf ]. The duly filled in application, along with a draft of Rs. 100, payable to the Registrar, Indian Institute of Science Education & Research, Kolkata, should be sent to the Registrar, IISER-Kolkata, Mohanpur Campus, Post: BCKV Main Office, Mohanpur 741252, West Bengal - 741252, by registered post. The candidate should write PBIR with his/her chosen discipline on the top of the envelope while sending the application form (e.g., PBIR-Mathematics). The last date for applications to be received is May 31, 2009. Interviews are likely to be conducted by the end of June.

Essential Items Accompanying the Application
Apart from attested copies of all marks-sheets (secondary examination onward), the following documents must accompany the application:

(i) confidential letters of assessment of the applicant in the prescribed form [ doc, pdf ], from two teachers who have taught courses and would be able to evaluate the student as a potential research worker. The teachers should seal the envelopes and sign across the flaps;

(ii) a self-assessment by the student in his/her own words;

(iii) a plan of work (within 250 words) in the applicant’s own words (do not download from the internet or copy from other sources) that the student would like to carry out in the Ph. D Programme. Landline phone no. and/or mobile no. are essential. Incomplete applications may not be considered.

Mode of Selection
Institute-level committee(s) will scrutinize all the applications, and prepare a shortlist of about 70 candidates, who may be called for interview. The Institute will finally declare the list of selected candidates on the Institute website. The Institute will provide second-class (sleeper) train fare and hostel accommodation to students appearing in the interview.

Student Intake
In the Academic Session 2009-2010, a total of 22 students may be selected, covering all sciences.

A tentative distribution is: Physics (5), Chemistry (5), Biology (5), Earth Sciences (5) and Mathematics (2).
