Eligibility:
Aspirants should have an M.Phil degree of a recognized university / research institution with minimum final grade point average (FGPA) of 6.0 in 10 point scale/comparable standard where the grading is based on system other than 10 point scale.
Aspirants who have obtained M.Phil degree from a university / institution where dissertation is not graded or grading is not on 10-point scale are required to forward a copy of their M.Phil dissertation along with the application Form for the purpose of assessment of their credentials.
Aspirants whose M.Phil/M.Tech/Pre-Ph.D/MPH Results are not available will not be considered under any circumstances.

Aspirants are required to enclose demand draft drawn in favour of Jawaharlal Nehru University Payable at New Delhi as per the following rates towards cost of application Form and processing fees with the application form:
For general and OBC category: Rs.420/- (Rs.20/- for cost of application form + Rs. 20/- for processing fee).
For candidates belonging to SC/ST and physically challenged (PH) category: Rs.310/- (Rs.20/- for cost of application form + Rs. 10/- for processing fee)

Eligibility : Candidates who have cleared UGC/UGC-CSIR JRF Test / NET/ SLET/ SET/ GATE are eligible to apply and they are not allowed to appear for the entrance examination.

Entrance Test: Entrance test paper contains multiple choice questions of one mark each of 100 marks. Duration of the test will be 120 minutes.

Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund offers Scholarships for upto 2 years from January 2015 to Indian Nationals and Nationals of other Asian countries for Ph.D studies in India in Science & Technology, Religion & Culture, Sociology, Indian History, Economics, Environment and Nehru Studies.

Eligibility:
1. Hold a FIRST Class Post-graduate degree with a minimum 60% marks in aggregate.

INAT 2013 Application Process

Applications are invited from highly motivated students for IUCAA – NCRA Admission Test (INAT- 2013) for research scholarship to do a Ph.D. at the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), Pune (an autonomous institution of the University Grants Commission), or the National Centre for Radio Astrophysics (NCRA), Pune, of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR is a deemed university and an autonomous institution of the Department of Atomic Energy).

IUCAA offers challenging opportunities to young researchers in theory, observation, and instrumentation in Astronomy and Astrophysics. Recently, IUCAA has acquired a share in the 10-m Southern African Large Telescope; it also operates the IUCAA Girawali Observatory with a 2-m optical telescope. Both these telescopes have imaging, spectroscopic and polarimetric capabilities. IUCAA also has a high-performance computational facility and a good library.

Eligibility
Applications are invited from students who expect to complete their M.Sc., Integrated M.Sc. or B.E./B.Tech./M.E./M.Tech. degrees by August 2014 with 55% marks or more. In addition, talented final-year B.Sc., 1st year M.Sc., 4th year Integrated M.Sc. and 2nd/3rd year B.E./B.Tech. students may also apply to be PRE-SELECTED for a research scholarship towards a Ph.D. at IUCAA for Physics, or Astronomy and Astrophysics. Students in any branch of the B.E., B.Tech., M.E. or M.Tech. degrees, or in the Physics, Electronics, Astronomy or Applied Mathematics branches of the B.Sc. or M.Sc. degrees, are eligible to apply for INAT-2013. Students who have already completed any of the above degrees are also eligible.

Students in the final year of the B.Sc. (in the above branches) or who have completed their B.Sc. degree may also apply for selection to NCRA's integrated Ph.D. programme. Such students would attend one year of courses (taught in collaboration with IISER-Pune) before joining the IUCAA-NCRA graduate school.

Selection for the research scholarship will be through a written test on 30th December 2013 and two interviews on December 30 and /or 31,2013, both to be held at NCRA-TIFR, Pune.

Applications are invited for admission to the Ph.D. programme of the Institute with Government of India fellowship for the academic session 2009-2010:

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) In Population Studies - (3 years full-time residential programme)

Eligibility: Candidates having M.Phil/Master's degree in Population Studies of a recognised university with atleast 55% of marks. For part-time Ph.D., two years' experience after MPS or one year experience after M.Phil in Population Studies is essential.

Application procedure: Prescribed application form and information can be obtained from the Assistant Registrar (Academic), International Institute for Population Sciences, Deonar, Mumbai-400088 in person or by sending a self addressed Rs.25/- stamped envelope (25cm x 12cm) on or before October 23, 2009.

The form may also be downloaded from the institute’s website.

The completed application form along with necessary enclosures and a non-refundable processing fee of Rs. 400/- (exempted for SC and ST candidates) by a Demand Draft, drawn from any nationalised Bank in favour of the Director, IIPS, Mumbai should reach the Assistant Registrar (Academic) on or before October 23, 2009. The Institute shall not be responsible for any postal delay. The processing fee may also be paid by cash at the cash counter of the Institute and the cash receipt should be attached along with the completed application set.

Fellowship : The selected Indian students will be awarded a Government of India fellowship initially for one year only and is extendable on yearly basis as per rules of the Institute. Each eligible candidate with NET qualification for lecturership only either in Population Studies or its interdisciplinary subjects will be awarded the Government of India fellowship @ Rs. 12,000/- per month for first and second years and Rs. 14,000/- per month for the third year respectively. Each fellowship carries a contingency grant of Rs.10,000/- for the first two years and Rs. 20,500/- for the third year. However, the candidates without NET qualification for lecturership shall be awarded the Government of India fellowship @ Rs. 6,250/- p.m. for first and second years and Rs. 7,000/- p.m. for third year respectively with an annual contingency grant of Rs. 10,000/-.

PhD Fellowships for Teachers

Rabindranath Tagore Centre For Human Development Studies Kolkata invites application for its full-time PhD programme with fellowship 2009-10.

Applications are invited for seven full-time PhD fellowships; two of which will be for in-service college / university teachers.
Fellowship amount will be Rs 13,000-15,000 per month + contingencies as per rules of the Institute.
Full pay protection will, however, be given to in-service teachers.
Tenure of the fellowship will be for three years on the basis of annual appraisal.
Fellowship awardee is expected to research on any of the following themes related to human development: Economic and Social Aspects of Education; Health and Nutrition; Employment; Finance; Partition & Migration; Sociology of Class Formation; Decentralisation and Development Communication.

National Institute for Research in Reproductive Health-NIRRH Mumbai, a premier institute of the Indian Council of Medical Research, conducts basic, clinical and operational research in different areas of reproductive health. The thrust areas of research include: Fertility Regulation, Infertility and Reproductive Disorders, Reproductive Tract Infections, Maternal and Child Health, Menopause, Genetic Disorders, Stem Cell Biology, Structural Biology, Bioinformatics, Reproductive Toxicology, Pharmacogenomics and Proteomics. Ph.D Eligibility:

They should have at least 50% in their highest University examination, and should also have qualified in the GATE / UGC - CSIR - NET, JRF / ICMR, JRF / JEST / or any other advanced entrance examination. Candidates with a Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology/ Medicine, however, do not require a qualifying exam. (Typically the selected candidates are either CSIR qualified or have GATE/JEST percentile score of 90 or above).
M.S. (Engg.) / M.S. Eligibility

Students who have passed a Bachelor's degree in any branch of science or engineering or are appearing for final exam this year are eligible to apply, provided they secure a minimum of 55% marks in their degree

National University of Educational Planning and Administration M. Phil/Ph. D admissions 2009

The National University offers M. Phil. and Ph. D. Programmes in educational planning and administration from a broader inter-disciplinary social science perspective. The three programmes leading to M. Phil. and Ph. D. degrees are as under:

i. Full-time Integrated M. Phil. - Ph. D. Programme – 2 years
ii. Full-time Direct Ph. D. Programme – 1 year
iii. Part-time Ph. D. Programme – 4 years


Eligibility: Full-time Integrated M. Phil. - Ph. D. Programme:

(a) Candidates seeking admission to the Full-time Integrated M. Phil. - Ph. D. Programme shall have minimum of 55% marks (50% for SC/ST) or its equivalent grade in Master's Degree in Education, Social Sciences and allied disciplines from a recognized university.

(b) The NET qualified candidates, who have been awarded Junior Research Fellowships by the UGC, with the above-mentioned educational qualifications are encouraged to apply.

Full-time Direct Ph. D. Programme:

1. The university also offers admission to Full-time Direct Ph. D. Programme for candidate with M. Phil. Degree in an area closely related to educational policy, planning and administration in addition to the qualifications mentioned in above and/or exceptionally brilliant academic record in social sciences/ allied areas coupled with publications of high quality.

2. M. Phil. degree holders of NUEPA will be eligible for admission to the Direct Ph. D. Programme without any further scrutiny provided they attain a FGPA of 7 or above on the ten point scale.

Candidates who are yet to clear their final examination at the Master's level are also eligible to apply provided they pass the examination as per the eligibility conditions laid down at 1 & 2 above and submit its proof at the time of the interview. The University reserves the right to cancel the admission
of such candidates who are unable to produce the evidence of passing the Master's degree by first week of July 2009.

Part-time Ph. D. Programme:

University also offers Part-time Ph. D. Programme based on the criteria as laid down in the rules of the university. A candidate seeking admission to Part-time Ph. D. Programme is required to meet the following criteria:

i. Should possess the educational qualifications as mentioned in Full-time Integrated M. Phil. - Ph. D. Programme above;

ii. Currently, should be in full-time employment;

iii. Should be a senior level educational functionary with a minimum of five years work experience in teaching, educational planning and administration.

Programmes of the University along with three copies of the brief write-up on the proposed research topic on a contemporary issue within the broad framework of educational policy, planning and administration.

National Institute of Technology (NIT) Ph.D. programmes 2009

National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC) invites applications for doing research leading to Ph.D. degree is available in the following departments:

Eligibility and academic requirements for admission to Ph.D. Programmes
The candidates for Ph.D. Programmes may be offered admission, based on certain minimum academic requirements to be satisfied by the candidates as given below:

I. Faculty of Engineering:
M.Tech. Degree in Engineering/Technology in the appropriate branch of study with first class or minimum 60% marks (CGPA 6.5/10) [For SC/ST candidates, the minimum mark is 50% (CGPA 5.5/10)].

II. Faculty of Architecture:
Master’s degree in Architecture/Design/Planning/Engineering/Technology or its equivalent with first class or minimum 60% marks (CGPA 6.5/10) [For SC/ST candidates, the minimum mark is 50% (CGPA 5.5/10)].

III. Faculty of Science & Humanities:
Master’s degree in Mathematics/ Statistics/Chemistry/Physics/Humanities (English Language Teaching) with first class or minimum 60% marks (CGPA 6.5/10) or equivalent, [for SC/ST candidates, the minimum mark is 50% marks (CGPA 5.5/10)] and a valid GATE score or UGC/CSIR/NBHM/NET fellowship in the relevant areas tenable from the current year. Candidates applying for External registration do not require GATE score or UGC/CSIR/NBHM/NET fellowship.
The maximum age for admission to Ph.D. programme is 50 years.

Selection of Candidates
The admission to Ph.D. Programmes will be on the basis of written test and/or interview, by the respective Department.

Financial Assistance
A few research fellowships are available to full time research scholars who are not receiving any financial support/ scholarship from other Agencies or State or Central Governments. They are required to assist the Department in the academic work for at least 8 hours per week as per guidelines issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Development, Govt. of India, in addition to satisfying other conditions for the award / renewal of the fellowship.

How to apply-:
1. Use only the appropriate Application Forms downloaded from NITC Website.

2. Candidates applying for admission to different departments will have to write the corresponding codes in the appropriate columns in the Application Form.

3. A passport size photograph taken not earlier than 3 months is to be affixed on the Application Form. The photo in the application should be self-attested. Additional six copies of the same photograph and one stamp size photograph should be produced at the time of counseling/admission.

4. Demand Draft towards application fee (Rs. 600/- for Open and External candidates, Rs. 300/- for SC/ST candidates drawn in favour of “Director NIT Calicut” payable at State Bank of India, NIT Calicut Branch (Code No. 2207) is to be enclosed.

Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology Ph.D admissions 2009

Director, Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology, invites applications from candidates who are bonafide Indian citizens and having consistently good academic record. Candidates should have strong motivation to pursue research in modern biology leading to a Ph.D degree. The projects offered for Ph.D would be in the broad areas of
(i) Biotechnology and Biomedicine
(ii) Genetics and Evolution
(iii) Cell Biology and Development
(iv) Molecular Biology
(iv) Biochemistry and Biophysics
(v) Bio informatics and Theoretical Biology.

Candidates who satisfy the following criteria only need apply:
1. Should have an M.Sc. degree in any area of biological/physical/chemical sciences including mathematics and qualified in the CSIR-UGC (NET) examination for Junior Research Fellowship. The Fellowship Certificate should be valid as on the date of joining. (Candidates qualified only for Lecturer ship in CSIR-UGC (NET) examination need not apply.

2. Candidates qualified in ICMR-JRF examination under Life Sciences may apply. Admission will be subject to their qualifying in the CCMB written test/interview and award of Fellowship by ICMR.

3. Candidates qualified in DBT-JRF examination can also apply.

4. Engineering (B.E. & B.Tech.) or B.Pharm graduates with Biotechnology as a subject of study and have qualified in GATE examination with a minimum of 85 percentile may also apply for award of Research Fellowship subject to their qualifying in the written test/interview and award of fellowship by CSIR. The GATE certificate should be valid as on the date of joining.

5. Students with non-life sciences background (having master degree in Mathematics/Statistics/Physics/Chemistry and B.Tech in Computer Sciences or other Engineering discipline) are specifically encouraged to apply, if they have high desire and motivation in doing interdisciplinary research in Life Sciences.


6. Students with MBBS with first division may also apply. Selected candidates should also qualify/obtain the Senior Research Fellowship conducted by the Human Resource Development Group, Council of Scientific & Industrial Research, New Delhi, to pursue PhD in CCMB.


7. Upper age limit is 28 years as on 8.12.2008 which is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST/OBC/Women/Physically Handicapped candidates.

Written Test and Interview : All the applications will be screened and candidates found suitable will be called for written test on 16.1.2009 at CCMB, Hyderabad. Candidates qualified in the written test will have to appear for interview on 17th & 18th January , 2009. Candidates selected in the interview will have to stay for discussions on 19.1.2009 with Scientists at CCMB regarding allotment of projects for the Ph.D. programme. Traveling Allowance is not payable by CCMB and candidates have to make their own arrangements for stay, etc. at Hyderabad.

Candidates who have qualified in CSIR-UGC NET Fellowship or ICMR-JRF or DBT-JRF can also walk in on the day of the written test (16th January, 2009) at 7.30 AM in CCMB along with proof of their qualification for the respective fellowship. They are requested to send an email intimating the same to AO, CCMB at coa@ccmb.res.in.
Mere fulfilling of the minimum requirements stipulated in the notification would not automatically entitle a person for selection. The decision of the Centre in this regard shall be final. Canvassing in any form and/or bringing in any influence, political or otherwise, will be treated as a disqualification.

Eligibility: For Ph.D.:

1. A Master’s degree in the discipline securing not less than 55% of marks in the aggregate or MBBS/Ayurvedic Graduation/BE/B.Tech./B.Sc. Engineering. They have to work on full time basis for a minimum period of THREE years. Two years in case of having M.Phil/DM in Neurology/M.Ch in Neurosurgery/ MD/MS/DNB from a recognized University or from any other University recognized as equivalent thereto by NIMHANS.

Two Years full time MA/M.Sc. degree in Psychology or two-year M.Phil. degree in Clinical Psychology (NIMHANS) in case of Mental Health & Social Psychology.

2. Candidates with master's degree obtained through research and awarded on the basis of the evaluation of the thesis (from a University recognized by NIMHANS which do not award marks at the master's level) are also eligible to apply for Ph.D. programme.

MD in Psychiatry: (a) MBBS: The duration of the course will be for a period of three years. (b) Diploma in Psychiatry (DPM): The duration of the course will be for a period of two years.

Diploma in Psychiatry (DPM): MBBS. The duration of the course will be for a period of two years.

M.Phil. in Mental Health & Social Psychology: Two years full time MA/M.Sc. degree in Psychology.

M.Phil. in Psychiatric Social Work: Master’s Degree in Social Work.

M.Phil. in Neurophysiology: Master’s Degree in Life Sciences/ MBBS degree.

M.Phil. in Neurosciences: Master's degree in Physical/Life/Behavioural Sciences or BE/B.Tech or MBBS.

M.Phil. in Biophysics: M.Sc. in Physical/Life Science/MBBS/BE Degree.

M.Sc. in Psychiatric Nursing Course: (a) The course is open to those who are registered Nurses with B.Sc/B.Sc(Hons) in Nursing. (b) Should have a minimum of two years of experience after obtaining B.Sc/B.Sc.(Hons) in Nursing degree in Hospital, Nursing Education, Institution or Community Health setting.

Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing (DPN) AND Diploma in Neurological & Neurosurgical Nursing (DNN): Should possess ‘A’ Grade Certificate in General Nursing, recognized by Indian Nursing Council should be registered nurse in the State Nursing Council with two years experience.

Common for all Courses:

The qualifying degrees for all the above mentioned courses should be from a recognized University. For Medical qualification the degree should be recognized by the Medical Council of India.

The Candidates should have obtained not less than 55% of Marks in the aggregate of the Master's degree for non-medical courses.

A relaxation of 5% on the aggregate of marks obtained will be given for non-medical and Ph.D. courses in respect of SC/ST candidates.

AGE LIMIT: For MD & DPM Courses the age should not be more than 32 years and, relaxable in case of SC/ST Candidates by a maximum of 5 years as on 2.5.2009.

For sponsored candidates age should not be more than 40 years as on 2.5.2009.

Application fee:

Medical Courses: Rs.1000/- per course and (Rs.750/- in case of SC/ST candidates) (non-refundable).

Non-Medical Courses: Rs.700/- per course and (Rs.500/- in case of SC/ST candidates) (non-refundable).

Candidates may apply for more than one course provided they are eligible.

Candidates can apply in the same application form for MD and Diploma in Psychiatry courses.
