National Entrance Screening Test-NEST 2021 Admission to 5 year Integrated MSc Programmesin Biology, Chemistry,Mathematics and Physics at NISER and UM-DAE CEBS Mumbai

National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) is a compulsory test for students seeking admission to National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) Bhubaneswar and University of Mumbai - Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CEBS), Mumbai. Both NISER and UM-DAE CEBS were set up by Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India in 2007. Their mandate is to train scientific manpower for carrying out cutting edge scientific research and for providing input to scientific programmes of Department of Atomic Energy and other applied science institutions in the country

Eligibility : 

* Candidates in the Unreserved and OBC categories must have been born on or after August 01, 2001. The age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ ST/ Divyangjan candidates.

* Class XII qualifying examination must have passed in either 2019 or 2020. Candidates appearing in 2021 are also eligible. (Where only Letter Grade is given by the Board, a certificate from the Board specifying equivalent percentage marks will be required. In the absence of such a certificate the decision of the respective Admission Committees will be final.)

* At least 60% marks in aggregate (or equivalent grade) in Class XII examination from any recognized Board in India. For Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) candidates and for Divyangjan candidates, the minimum requirement is 55%.

* Candidate should secure a position in the NEST merit list.

Registration / Online application opens :24th of February 2021. 

Online application closes : 30th of April 2021. 

Download of admit card starts : 20th of May 2021. 

Date of examination : 14th of June 2021. 

Announcement of results on NEST website : 30th of June 2021.

National Entrance Screening Test-NEST 2014 Admission to5 year Integrated MSc Programme in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics

National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) is a compulsory test for students seeking admission to National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar and University of Mumbai - Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CBS), Mumbai. Both NISER and UM-DAE CBS have been started by Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India in 2007. Their mandate is to train scientific manpower for carrying out cutting edge scientific research and for providing input to scientific programmes of Department of Atomic Energy and other applied science institutions in the country. The test is conducted in 37 centers across India.

Integrated Science Education and Research Center (ISERC), Visva Bharati, is also participating in NEST 2014 and will admit students for its Integrated MSc course from the Merit List of NEST 2014.

Eligibility :

* Candidates in General and OBC category should be born on or after July 22, 1994. The age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ ST/ Physically Disabled (PD) candidates.

* Class XII qualifying examination should be passed in either 2012 or 2013. Candidates appearing in 2014 are also eligible. (Where only Letter Grade is given by the Board, a certificate from the Board specifying equivalent percentage marks will be required. In the absence of such a certificate the decision of the respective Admission Committees will be final.)

* At least 60% marks in aggregate (or equivalent grade) in Class XII (or equivalent) examination from any recognized Board in India. For Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) candidates and for Persons with Disability (PD), the minimum requirement is 55%.

Students admitted to NISER & UM-DAE CBS are eligible for DST-INSPIRE (Govt.of India) fellowship of Rs 60000/ p.er year and Rs 20000/- p.a. for summer internship.

For Scheduled Cast (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) candidates and for Persons with Disability (PD), the minimum requirement is 55%. Students who have passed the Class XII qualifying examination in 2011 or 2012 or are appearing in 2013 are eligible to apply. (Where only Letter Grade is given by the Board, a certificate from the Board specifying equivalent percentage marks will be required. NISER Ph.D. Program scheduled to commence from December' 2010 in the following schools of basic sciences at NISER, Bhubaneswar:

Eligibility

1. Age: Not more than 28 years on December 01, 2010 (Born on/after December, 1982)

Stream and Minimum Educational Qualifications

* Biological Sciences
60% in Masters in any branches of Biology, life sciences and bioinformatics. Student with masters in any branches of natural or computer sciences with interest in pursuing career in biology

* Chemical Sciences
60% in M. Sc. Or equivalent degree in Chemistry, Physics, Applied Chemistry, Biochemistry, Material Science, any one of the subject.

* Mathematical Sciences
60% in M. Sc. or equivalent degree in Mathematics

3. Candidates should have qualified the CSIR-NET/GATE/ NBHM or equivalent examination valid for the current year in the relevant area of research. UGC-CSIR JRF qualified candidates can avail the fellowship directly from UGC or CSIR, whereas, students selected for Ph.D. program based on GATE scores, are eligible for financial aid (Assistantship / Fellowship) from NISER, Bhubaneswar as prevailing
in DAE.

4. The selected students who opt for the Fellowship from NISER will be given Rs. 16,000/- for first 2 years , which will subsequently be enhanced to Rs. 18,000/- for remaining 2 years, subject to the condition that he/she fulfills all the requirements of the Institute that will be stipulated from time to time.

Selection Procedure
The selection committee of the respective school short-lists the candidates among those who meet the minimum educational qualifications and satisfy additional criteria which each school may set as deemed necessary.
The short-listed candidates will be called for an interview, supplemented by a written test if necessary, for the admission. All candidates called for the Test / Interview will be paid to and fro single, second-sleeper class railway fare by the shortest route from their place of residence to the Institute / venue of the Test /Interview. They have to produce evidence (railway ticket) in support of their claim.
Based on the academic record and the performance of the candidates in the selection process, the selection committee of the school will recommend candidates to the Chairman, Academic Council for admission to the Ph.D. program.

To Apply
The application form is available free of cost and can be downloaded from http://niser.ac.in (this file: page 4-7) Else, the form can be obtained by post, or in person, from the Academic Section, NISER Bhubaneswar, (for postal address see below). In case of request by post, please enclose a self-addressed envelope (A4 size, 21 cm X 30 cm) affixed with postage stamps of Rs. 25/-
Candidates intending to apply for more than one program should use separate application form for each program with appropriate enclosures.
• Fill-in the application form completely. Incomplete application form will be rejected. The application form can either be typed or hand-written.
• NISER does not demand any admission/entrance fee from the candidates who apply for Ph.D program. It is free.
• Send only attested copies of all supporting documents (mark sheets, certificates, age proof, caste certificate, etc.)
• Enclose two letters of reference. The copy of the reference letter is available in NISER Website.
• Send the filled-in application forms with all enclosures to the address mentioned below or e-mail the scanned copies of complete application form duly filled in all respect to adminofficer_iii@niser.ac.in

Admission to 5-year M.Sc. (Integrated) Programmes at UM-DAE CBS, Mumbai, NISER, Bhubaneswar and Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan

National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) 2010 is the entrance test for students seeking admission to the 5-year integrated Masters programme at the University of Mumbai – Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CBS) Mumbai, National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar, and Integrated Science Education and Research Centre (ISERC), Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan.

Eligibility for NEST 2010-:
1. Qualification: General category and OBC candidates must have secured an aggregate of 60% marks (or equivalent grade) in class XII (or equivalent) from any recognized
board in India. For SC/ST/PD candidates the corresponding requirement is 55% aggregate marks. Candidates must have passed the class XII (or equivalent) examination in 2008 or 2009 or must be appearing in 2010. Where only a letter grade is available, a certificate from the board specifying equivalent percentage marks will be required. In the absence of such a certificate, the decision of the admission committee of the concerned institution will be final.
2. Age limit: General category and OBC candidates born on or after October 1, 1985 are eligible to apply. The age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST/PD candidates.

Admission Procedure-:
The National Entrance Screening Test (NEST-2010) will be conducted at 34 towns and cities all over India on Sunday, June 6, 2010. Selection of the candidates will be based on the results of the NEST-2010 examination, which will be available on June 30, 2010 at the NEST website given below.

NEST-2010 Examination-:
The NEST-2010 examination will consist of five sections. Section 1 is general and compulsory for all candidates. Sections 2 to 5 will contain questions from biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics respectively. Candidates are required to attempt any two of these four sections. The NEST-2010 examination will have objective-type questions, designed to test the candidate's subject comprehension and analytic ability. (Please refer to the website / brochure for details of the scope of the
NEST-2010 examination.) The duration of the examination will be three hours.

To Apply-:
Candidates may follow any of the following two channels to apply.
1. They may follow the instructions on the NEST website given below and fill up the application form on-line, take a print-out and send the same along with the application fee (in the form of a demand draft / postal order) to the address below.
2. They may send a letter to the Chief Coordinator, at the address below, requesting an application form and brochures which will be posted to them. On the receipt of the
application form and brochures, the candidate may fill up the form and send the completed application form, along with the application fee (in the form of a demand draft / postal order), to the Chief Coordinator at the address mentioned below.
Application Fee: The application fee for male general category and male OBC candidates is Rs. 500/-. The fee for male SC/ST/PD candidates and all female candidates is Rs. 250/-. The fee is to be paid in the form of a demand draft / postal order in favour of 'NEST-2010', payable at Mumbai.

Dates to Remember-:
Last date for requesting application forms is February 16, 2010. Last date for receipt of completed applications along with the requisite fee is March 16, 2010. The
on-line application process will also end on March 16, 2010. Applications incomplete in any respect or not accompanied by the requisite fee will not be accepted.

National Entrance Screening Test – 2009 (NEST-2009)

Department of Atomic energy, Government of India invites application to National Screening Test NEST 2009 for admission to 5 year MSc integrated programme at NISER Bhubaneswar and UMDAE CBS Mumbai

Eligibility: Students securing at least 60% marks in aggregate (or equivalent grade) in Class XII (or equivalent) examination from any recognized Board in India are eligible to apply.

Age Limit: General category candidates and Candidates belonging to Other Backward Castes (OBC) born on or after 01 Oct. 1984 are eligible to apply. For SC/ST/PD candidates the age limit is relaxable by 5 years. In any case, the eligibility criterion mentioned in point 1 above must be satisfied.

Application procedure: Application Fee: Application fee for appearing in NEST is Rs. 500/- for general category and OBC male candidates. For SC/ST/PD candidates and female candidates the amount is Rs.250/-. The application fee should be sent to Chief Coordinator, NEST-2009 in the form of a demand draft in favour of NISERNEST payable at Bhubaneswar.

On-line applications: This mode of filling of application form is recommended. On-line application forms may be filled in more than one sitting.
