Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology- RGIPT offers Ph.D. programmes in a wide range of areas in Engineering, Science & Social Sciences.

RGIPT Ph.D Programmes offered in : Chemical Engineering, Mathematics, Material Science, Physics, Chemistry, Geoinformatics, and English

Eligibility :

First class or 60% marks (55% marks for SC/ST)/CGPA or CPI of 6.0 in Master’s Degree in Engineering/ Technology (M.E./M.Tech.) or equivalent and valid GATE score (GATE exam taken after M.Tech is also acceptable)

First class or 60% marks (55% marks for SC/ST)/CGPA or CPI of 6.0 in Master’s degree in Science and valid CSIR/UGC/NBHM/DBT/DST Inspire Award or Fellowship

Candidates meeting one of the above requirements will have to qualify in a subject-wise written test and interview. The written test will be on the lines of GATE/NET to test aptitude of a student in his/her respective subject area.

Admission forms can be filled up in the specified format (Click here). The print out of the application duly filled and signed along with necessary enclosures should reach at the following address latest by November 4, 2013 (Monday). Please mark the envelope “Application form for PhD Programme.”

Applications are invited from Indian citizens for admission to Ph.D Program scheduled to commence from July 2012 in the following schools of basic sciences at NISER Bhubaneswar:

JNCASR invites applications for admission to M.S/Ph.D programmes in Science and Engineering from students who have qualified in NET-JRF/LS under CSIR / UGC fellowship schemes or DBT/ICMR - JRF or GATE / JEST / any other equivalent national level exam.

Integrated Ph.D Programmes
JNCASR invites applications for admission to the integrated (int.) Ph.D programme in Materials Science, Chemical Science and Biological Science.

Eligibility criteria for Int. PhD Programme
Materials Science - Bachelor's degree in any branch of Science. Those with Bachelors degree in Engg with an aptitude towards scientific research will also be considered. Candidates are expected to have sound knowledge in the fundamentals of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Chemical Sci. - Bachelor's degree in any branch of Science with Chemistry as a major.

Biological Science- This is offered in two disciplines
1) Evolutionary and Organismal Biology - Bachelor's degree in any branch of Science / Maths / Statistics. Those with Bachelor's degree in Engg with an aptitude towards scientific research will also be considered

2) Molecular Biology and Genetics - bachelor's degree in any branch of Science.

For all the above Int. Ph.D programmes, candidates should have a minimum of 55% of marks at the Bachelor's level. Those appearing for the final examination this year can also apply.

M.S/Ph.D – 31st March 2012

CSIT-CSMCRI, Bhavnagar, a national laboratory of CSIR invites applications for Ph.D admission in Chemical and Biological Sciences for January 2012 session. The main research areas include; Specially Inorganic and Nano materials, Catalysis and Absorption, Salt and Marine Chemicals, Coordination Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Polymer and Membrane Sciences, Renewable Energy, Stress Tolerance and Wasteland Research, Marine Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Stress Genomics and Proteomics, Transgenics, Metagenomics, Extremophiles, Marine Macro/Micro Algae and Environmental Sciences. The students should have qualified the CSIR-NET/GATE/JEST/NBHM or equivalent examination valid for the current year in the relevant area of research. UGC-CSIR JRF qualified candidates can avail the fellowship directly from UGC or CSIR, whereas, students selected for Ph.D program based on GATE scores, are eligible for Fellowship from NISER as prevailing in DAE.

NISER provides Rs.16,000/- as fellowship for Selected Candidates who opt for DAE Fellowship.

The application form is available free of cost and can be downloaded along with the guidelines. Else,the form can be obtained by post, or in person, from the academic section, NISER Bhubaneswar.

Eligibility

1. Age: Not more than 28 years on December 01, 2010 (Born on/after December, 1982)

Stream and Minimum Educational Qualifications

* Biological Sciences
60% in Masters in any branches of Biology, life sciences and bioinformatics. Student with masters in any branches of natural or computer sciences with interest in pursuing career in biology

* Chemical Sciences
60% in M. Sc. Or equivalent degree in Chemistry, Physics, Applied Chemistry, Biochemistry, Material Science, any one of the subject.

* Mathematical Sciences
60% in M. Sc. or equivalent degree in Mathematics

3. Candidates should have qualified the CSIR-NET/GATE/ NBHM or equivalent examination valid for the current year in the relevant area of research. UGC-CSIR JRF qualified candidates can avail the fellowship directly from UGC or CSIR, whereas, students selected for Ph.D. program based on GATE scores, are eligible for financial aid (Assistantship / Fellowship) from NISER, Bhubaneswar as prevailing
in DAE.

4. The selected students who opt for the Fellowship from NISER will be given Rs. 16,000/- for first 2 years , which will subsequently be enhanced to Rs. 18,000/- for remaining 2 years, subject to the condition that he/she fulfills all the requirements of the Institute that will be stipulated from time to time.

Selection Procedure
The selection committee of the respective school short-lists the candidates among those who meet the minimum educational qualifications and satisfy additional criteria which each school may set as deemed necessary.
The short-listed candidates will be called for an interview, supplemented by a written test if necessary, for the admission. All candidates called for the Test / Interview will be paid to and fro single, second-sleeper class railway fare by the shortest route from their place of residence to the Institute / venue of the Test /Interview. They have to produce evidence (railway ticket) in support of their claim.
Based on the academic record and the performance of the candidates in the selection process, the selection committee of the school will recommend candidates to the Chairman, Academic Council for admission to the Ph.D. program.

The application form is available free of cost and can be downloaded from http://niser.ac.in (this file: page 4-7) Else, the form can be obtained by post, or in person, from the Academic Section, NISER Bhubaneswar, (for postal address see below). In case of request by post, please enclose a self-addressed envelope (A4 size, 21 cm X 30 cm) affixed with postage stamps of Rs. 25/-
Candidates intending to apply for more than one program should use separate application form for each program with appropriate enclosures.
• Fill-in the application form completely. Incomplete application form will be rejected. The application form can either be typed or hand-written.
• NISER does not demand any admission/entrance fee from the candidates who apply for Ph.D program. It is free.
• Send only attested copies of all supporting documents (mark sheets, certificates, age proof, caste certificate, etc.)
• Enclose two letters of reference. The copy of the reference letter is available in NISER Website.
• Send the filled-in application forms with all enclosures to the address mentioned below or e-mail the scanned copies of complete application form duly filled in all respect to adminofficer_iii@niser.ac.in
