Eligibility criteria

Ph.D in Engineering: The interested candidates should have M.Tech /ME or equivalent degree. They should have passed the prescribed qualifying examination in first class with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 6.5/10 (6.0/10 in the case of SC/ST candidates) or not less than 60 percent aggregate marks (55 percent marks in the case of SC / ST candidates).

Ph.D in Science and Humanities: The interested candidates should possess a valid GATE / NET score. They should have M.Phil or equivalent degree, or M.Sc./M.Sc.(Tech) / MA or equivalent degree.

Selection procedure

An entrance test and an interview will be conducted for shortlisting and selecting the candidates.

IIST Post Doctoral Fellowship Programme 2012

Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Asia’s first Space University was established under the Department of Space in September 2007. IIST envisions the integration of Space Technology and Space Science educational programs with basic and applied research for meeting the national R&D requirements of science and technology in general and of the Indian Space Programme in particular. The institute provides a vibrant research atmosphere and offers doctoral and postdoctoral programmes.

IIFM Bhopal, a premier sectoral management institute funded by Ministry of Environmental and Forests, Govt. of India, invites applications for its 2011 - 15 doctoral level Fellow Programme in Management commencing from July 2011.

Eligibility -
The maximum age limit is 45 years as on 1st July 2011. A Bachelor's Degree with atleast 50% marks, Masters degree (minimum two years prescribed duration after 10+2+3 years of formal education) in relevant discipline (relevancy as decided by the IIFM) with at least 55% marks, including Five year / Four year integrated masters degree programme (or) B.Tech / B.E with 60% marks of Equivalent OGPA (or) Professional Qualification like CA, ICWA, CS with at least 55% marks.

Admission -

Eligible candidates with CAT / GMAT scores (scores of two years old with a minimum cut off score as decided by IIFM (or) UGC-CSIR-JRF/NET or GATE or ICAR JRF (scores not older than 5 years) (or) qualified FRI entrance test for Ph.D (two years old) (or) candidates who have obtained a PGDFM / PGDM from IIFM / IIM with a minimum OGPA of 3.00 or MRM students of IIFM with 300 CGPA (or) All India and allied services officers, officers in scale II of Nationalized Banks and officers of equivalent rank of PSUs can apply directly. Candidates who fulfill the required eligibility criteria as above and do not have any of the above qualifying test scores, but have five years experience (post their respective eligible degree) shall be called for the internal test and those who qualify in the internal test will be called for GD and PI.

IGNOU and Queensland University of Technology, Australia (QUT) have entered into an Agreement to deliver a collaborative Doctoral program under the Research and Teaching Assistance (RTA) Scheme of IGNOU. Applications are invited from eligible candidates to pursue Doctoral studies at IGNOU and QUT under the IGNOU’s RTA Scheme in the field of built environment and engineering, creative writing, education, health, information technology, journalism, life science, management, media and communication, and law.
Selected candidates will work under the joint supervision of QUT and IGNOU and will spend an initial period at IGNOU. They will then move to QUT to complete the thesis for a period as appropriate

Data Analysis in Social Sciences programme in TISS

Social scientists and research scholars engaged in social research generally compile a large body of useful data. Lacking proper knowledge and training in analytical techniques and computer programmes, they are often at a loss to make sense of the data they have collected. They face such questions as which procedure of analysis to follow and what techniques to apply for data on hand, what do the results show, how are the results to be interpreted and explained, how are the findings to be reported, etc. This Programme is intended to help social scientists and research scholars find answers to these and similar questions. It seeks to enhance social researchers? knowledge of data analysis, both qualitative and quantitative, and trains them in the use of computer software for social research.

The specific objectives of the Programme are to:
1. To familiarise the participants about the nature of social research data and the the problems and prospects of qualitative and quantitative data.
2. To train the participants in the use of appropriate modes of analysing quantitative and qualitative data.
3. To help the participants understand the assumptions of applied statistical techniques.
4. To familiarise the participants with various software packages for social sciences
5. To provide the participants with hands-on training in the use of computer for data analysis.

Who can benefit from the Programme?

The program is most useful to:
1. Scholars engaged in research leading to Ph.D. or M.Phil. degree
2. University and college teachers engaged in research and/or teaching research methodology
3. Social researchers in institutions or organisations engaged in research on socio-economic issues and implementation/evaluation of programmes.

Number of participants: The total number of candidates for the Programme is 25 ? 20 participants form outside Mumbai and 5 from Mumbai. The small batch of participants facilitates and fosters better interaction between instructors and participants, and among the participants themselves. Participants are also assured of individual attention and sufficient access to computer facilities for practice.

Selection: Preference will be given to applicants who have reached the stage of data processing/analysis or are engaged in research or teaching of research methodology.

Selected candidates would be informed through E-mail or Phone (please write clearly phone number and email address).

Last date for the receipt of duly completed applications: 8th October, 2008.
Those desirous of participating in the programme must send in their application (original) by regular mail so as to reach the Coordinator on or before the last date. They may, however, send an advance copy of the application by Fax or E-mail. Applications not forwarded by appropriate authorities will not be considered.

Application must accompany an application processing fee (Rs. 100) payable through crossed Demand Draft drawn in favour of ?The Registrar, TISS?. This fee does not guarantee selection to the Programme, nor is it refundable.

Fees: The Programme is financed by ICSSR, New Delhi.
Out-station participants will be reimbursed actual Second Class Train or Bus fare, through the shortest route, and are provided boarding facility (breakfast, lunch and dinner) as per ICSSR provision. As per the ICSSR instructions, participants will have to pay a nominal registration fee. The registration fee to be paid only after confirmation of selection.

Eligibility: The candidates for the programme must have one of the following qualifications obtained from any of the universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of parliament or declared to be deemed as a university under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India, or an equivalent qualification from an institution approved by AICTE.

A Masters’ degree or its equivalent in any discipline with minimum 55% aggregate marks

OR

A Bachelors Degree in Engineering with 60% marks or equivalent grade point average

OR

Any professional qualifications such as CA, ICWA and CS with a minimum 55% aggregate marks.

In addition, all the candidates must have secured a minimum of 55 % marks in all their public examinations starting with the secondary level. Work experience in industry or academics, though not mandatory, will be given due credit in the selection process

Those who are appearing for their final year examination in the current academic year may also apply. However, their admission to the programme will be provisional subject to their successful completion of all requirements for obtaining the relevant degree before 30 June 2009.

Age Limit : Candidates must not be more than 45 years of age as on 30th June, 2009.


Application procedure: Candidates, who are apprearing for CAT-2008 on 16 November, 2008 are required to do the following.

a. Fill the relevant circle for IIML FPM admissions in the CAT application form (item no. 12), and

b.Download the separate Application Form for IIML FPM admissions from www.iiml.ac.in.

Candidates, who use their scores of other examinations such as GATE, GRE, GMAT, and JRF of UGC/CSIR are required to download the IIML FPM Application Form from the above site.

A candidate is eligible to submit applications to a maximum of two areas. In such cases, two sets of the application form, one for each area, with all supporting documents (including copies of mark sheet and certificates of all public examinations starting from 10th, experience certificate, relevant score card, age proof, etc) attached separately with each form may be sent together in one envelop. Completed application forms along with a draft of Rs. 500/- (Rs. 250/- for SC/ST candidates) drawn in favour of IIM Lucknow payable at Lucknow should be sent to the following address.
