The Karnataka PGCET-2009 is being conducted under the supervision of Central Post Graduate Admission Committee (CPAC) for the purpose of determining merit of both Karnataka and Non-Karnataka candidates for admission to Full Time and Part

Completely filled application along with the following documents are to be enclosed
1. Attested photocopies of all the relevant documents (Candidates should not send the original documents).
2. A D.D. for Rs. 600/- (Rs. 300/- only for Karnataka SC/ST & Cat- I, on production of documentary proof) drawn in favour of Member Secretary CPAC, payable at Belgaum .
Admission Procedure : 1) For NON-GATE candidates only: Written test will be conducted on 05-07-2009 (Sunday) from i) 11.00 am. To 1.00 p.m. for VTU, UBDTCE and UVCE M.E./M.Tech./M.Arch. courses and ii) 2.00 pm. To 4.00 pm., for PG Department of Kuvempu University and University of Mysore M.E./ M.Tech. courses, at various centers as specified in the brochure.
2) GATE candidates with valid GATE score are given preference for admission. They have to apply by downloading the application form along with prescribed fee; however they are exempted from appearing for the written test.

IIT MA Development Studies At Guwahati 2009

INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY GUWAHATI Admissions 2009
Admission to MA in Development Studies programme, to start from July 2009
Applications are invited for admission to the Master of Arts (MA) programme in Development Studies, starting in July 2009, as per details of information indicated below.

Categories of Students for MA Programme in Development Studies
I) REGULAR (FULL -TIME)

These are students who work full-time for their MA degree.

II) SPONSORED (FULL-TIME)

A candidate in this category is sponsored by a recognised R&D organisation, academic institution, governmental organization, NGO, development agency or industry for doing MA in the Institute on a full-time basis. The applicant must be a regular employee of his/her organisation with at least two years of experience at the time of admission and be engaged in professional work in the discipline in which admission is sought. He/She will not receive any financial support from the Institute. Sponsorship letter (Form I) must be attached with the application.

Eligibility for Regular MA Candidates

A Bachelor’s Degree of minimum 3 years duration or its equivalent from a recognised University, in any discipline with a minimum average of 50 % marks or 5.5 CPI in a 10-point scale [ 45 % or 5.0 CPI in a 10-point scale, for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Person with Disability (PD) candidate].

Candidates appearing in their final Bachelor’s Degree examinations are also eligible to apply, provided they (a) obtain a minimum aggregate of 50% Marks (45% for SC/ST/PD) in their first and second year of university examinations taken together, and (b) they appear in all their qualifying degree examination subjects by 24-07-2009. If selected, such candidates shall be admitted provisionally; and they will have to furnish the results of their qualifying degree examination latest by 01-09-2009 - failure to which their admission shall get automatically cancelled.

Eligibility for Sponsored (Full-Time) MA Candidates

Same as for `Regular’ candidates, but also fulfilling additional conditions specified for Sponsored (Full-Time) candidates, as indicated under “Categories of Students for MA Programme”.

Reservation of Seats for SC, ST, OBC and PD categories: As per Govt. of India rules. OBC(Non-creamy layer) candidates will have to enclose certificate and self-declaration statement as per formats as indicated at ANNEXURES-I and II.

Financial Support

(For regular students, who are Indian nationals)

Institute Merit-Cum-Means (MCM) Scholarship is awarded to MA students (regular category) of the Institute with parents’ income not exceeding Rs.2,00,000/- per annum, for a period of 2(two) years. A maximum of 25% of the MA students belonging to general category who fulfill the income criterion and the merit criterion are eligible for the scholarship. The merit criterion for General category students is: (i) a CPI of 6.5 for 2nd year or (ii) 60% marks in the qualifying examination for the 1st year of the MA programme. Students are not considered for MCM scholarships if they have passed their +2 examination from non-govt. schools with annual fees more than Rs.30,000/- (Thirty thousand).

The Merit-cum-Means Scholarship consists of:
a) For general category: Tuition fee waiver and Rs.1000/- per month for four months per semester
b) For SC/ST category: Concession of tuition fee exemption will be admissible to all SC/ST students irrespective of their parents’ income. For SC/ST students with parents’ income not exceeding Rs.2,00,000/- per annum, following

additional benefits will be admissible:
i) Free messing (Dues of only basic menu),
ii) Exemption from Hostel room rent and
iii) A pocket allowance of Rs.250/- per month
The above facilities are awarded for four months per semester and for two semesters.

To receive application forms by post, send a request along with a self-addressed unstamped envelope (24cm x 15cm size). Request for form must be sent in an envelope super-scribed with ‘Request for MA Application form’.

Filled in application forms complete with copies of mark sheets/certificates and other testimonials and a DD for Rs.150/- (Rs.75/- for SC/ST/PD candidates) drawn in any nationalized bank and payable at Guwahati, in favour of Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, should be sent to the Head, Department of Humanities & Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, Guwahati – 781 039, Assam, to reach on or before 3 June 2009. The words “Application for MA admission” should be written on the top of the envelope for sending the completed form.

Selection

Applicants satisfying the eligibility requirement will be assessed for selection through a written test. The written test aims at assessment of knowledge about contemporary issues in the field and sensitivity to social issues, expressed through written analysis in English.

CFTRI M.Sc in Food Technology Admissions 2009

ADMISSION TO M.Sc. (FOOD TECHNOLOGY) DEGREE COURSE AT CENTRAL FOOD TECHNOLOGICAL RESEARCH INSTITUTE, MYSORE

Applications are invited for 2 year M.Sc. (Food Technology) Degree Course of the University of Mysore for the years 2009-11.

Eligibility criteria: Bachelor Degree in Science with Chemistry/Biochemistry as one of the subjects or Agriculture / Engineering / Technology. Mathematics as one of the subjects in 12th Class or Pre University or at Degree level is compulsory for admission

An applicant possessing the following qualifications in appropriate area shall be eligible to apply for admission for Ph.D. programme of the Institute. Masters degree in Engineering / Technology/Architecture/Urban & Rural Planning/Sciences/ Humanities & Social Sciences and Management in respective discipline or equivalent with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 6.00 on a 10 point scale or equivalent as determined by the Institute wherever letter grades are awarded; or 60% marks in aggregate (of all the years/ semesters) where marks are awarded.

OR
Applicants with B.Tech./B.Arch. degree or equivalent in respective discipline with excellent academic record (with a minimum CGPA of 7.00 on a 10 point scale or equivalent or 70% marks) may be considered eligible for admission.

Applicants for admission for full-time studies who do not possess a M.Tech./ M.Arch./ MURP degree or equivalent in the relevant field must have a valid GATE score (at least 75 percentile) for Engineering / Technology/ Science disciplines or must have qualified national level fellowship examinations such as NET (JRF/LS) conducted by UGC/CSIR for Science/ Humanities and Social Sciences disciplines.

Engineering/Architecture graduates from any IIT/erstwhile University of Roorkee having CGPA Score > 8.00 or marks > 80% are also eligible for admission without GATE score .


RESERVATION/RELAXATION for IIT Roorkee Ph.D Admissions 2009

a) Relaxation in eligibility requirement in terms of minimum CGPA upto 5.5 or 55% marks in aggregate will be given to SC, ST and Persons with Disability (PD) applicants and those with M.A. English (for admission to Ph.D. English in the Deptt. of Humanities and Social Sciences of IIT Roorkee) as per Institute regulations.

b) Persons with Disability (PD) applicants may be permitted relaxation in eligibility requirement of CGPA to 5.5 on a 10 point scale or equivalent, or to 55%

TANCET 2009 On May 30 and 31

The Anna University (Chennai) will conduct the TANCET 2009 of the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) on May 30 and 31. It is mandatory for students aspiring to join MBA, MCA, ME, MTech, M.Arch and MPlan postgraduate degree courses to appear for the TANCET.

The TANCET will be conducted in various centres in Chennai, Coimmbatore, Erode, Karaikudi, Tirunelveli, Vellore, Chidambaram, Salem, Thanjavur, Villupuram, Virudhunagar, Nagercoil, Madurai and Karaikudi. A notification regarding the TANCET will be issued soon.

2. Candidates appearing for final qualifying examinations can also apply but they must produce final result on the day of Counselling/Interview/GD failing which their candidature shall be rejected.

3. Information Brochure containing Application form can be obtained in person or by post from the office of the Organizing Chairperson, NIPER-JEE 2009 on submission of non refundable Bank Draft of Rs. 1000/-(Rs.500/- for SC/ST) payable at S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali)/Chandigarh in favour of “NIPER-JEE 2009” along with two duly typed self-addressed Slips with name (10 cms X 6 cms). Indian nationals residing abroad and foreign nationals have to remit US$100 by bank draft payable to “NIPER-JEE 2009”. Payment by cheque/postal order will not be accepted. Candidates desirous of obtaining information brochure by post should clearly mention the name of the programme in the application and on the top of the envelope carrying the request letter.

4. The candidates will have to make their own arrangement for travel and boarding for attending test/GD/Interview/Counselling.

5. Completed applications on the prescribed OMR form should be sent to Organising Chairperson, NIPER-JEE 2009, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, (NIPER), Sector 67, S.A.S.Nagar (Mohali), Punjab, 160062, (through speed post/registered post) so as to reach him on or before 27th April 2009. The Institute will not be responsible for any loss or postal delay. Applications received after the due date will not be considered. No correspondence/ inquiry in this regard will be entertained. The Institute shall not be held responsible for misplacement of any loose sheet. Therefore, all the applicants are required to submit the application form properly tied together. The attested copy of valid NET/GATE score card only shall be sent with the application form.

6. A common written test for all disciplines of the Masters programme will be held on Sunday, the 14th June, 2009 at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Pune and Trivandrum. The centres may be altered if sufficient numbers of candidates do not register for a particular centre.

International Institute for Population Sciences M.P.S/M.PHIL 2009

Applications are invited for admission to the MPS/M.Phil programme of the Institute with Government of India fellowship for the academic session 2009-2010 to commence from July 2009:

Eligibility: Master's degree in any of the following disciplines:
Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Geography, and Anthropology, with a minimum of 55% marks. Candidates awaiting results of qualifying examination by June 2009 can also apply for consideration. The upper age limit is 30 years as on 30.6.2009 (Marks & Age are relaxable for candidates belong to reserved categories as per GOI rules).

Fellowship: Each selected Indian student will be awarded a Government of India fellowship @ Rs. 2,500/- per month.

Selection Criteria: The selection will be made on the basis of a written test, personal interview and past academic records. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for the test and interview. Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) in Population Studies: Eligible students of MPS/M.Phil course are given the option of pursuing M.Phil in Population Studies by continuing for an additional six months, on merit. Those completing this course will get M.Phil degree instead of MPS degree.

In the M.Phil programme, students take an Advanced Research Methodology course, undertake guided reading of research papers and write a dissertation based on primary/secondary data. The value of each M.Phil fellowship for Indian students is Rs. 3,000/- p.m. with a lump sum contingency grant of Rs. 5,000/-.

IIIT-B M.Tech Admissions 2009

IIIT-B invites applications for admission to the M.Tech program for the academic year starting in 2009. The M.Tech degree is awarded upon successful completion of a 4-semester, broad-based academic program in IT.

Eligibility
Minimum Requirements
The minimum qualification for admission to any of the programs at iiit-b is a first-class four-year bachelor's degree in engineering (i.e. B.E., B.Tech., or equivalent). M.Sc./MCA degree holders can also apply. Final-year students expecting to graduate by August 2009 may also apply.

Working Professionals
Working professionals applying for the M.Tech. program must get leave for the duration of the M.Tech. program. Such applications have to be sent through the employer (or accompanied by a letter from a supervisor or other authorized representative of the employer stating that there is no objection to the applicant's joining iiit-b as a student). Working students will also need sponsorship from the employer, or obtain support from other sources to meet their costs, as scholarships and other financial support are not available to working students.

International Students
Exceptional international students with valid GRE General Test scores and TOEFL scores as per the above requirements may apply for the M.Tech. program.

How to Apply
Applicants may either apply online at our website or apply offline by requesting for a paper-based application form.

The following fees are applicable:
Application Fee: Rs. 250/-
Online Entrance Exam Fee: Rs. 750/-

The Application Fee is payable by all the applicants. Applicants who have obtained a waiver for the entrance exam need not pay the Online Entrance Exam Fee. The rest of the applicants who are going to write the online entrance exam must pay the Online Entrance Exam fee.

Delhi University Master of Finance and Control (MFC)

Department of Financial Studies of Delhi University invites applications for Two-Year (full-time) Master of Finance and Control (MFC) Programme for the academic session 2009-2011 commencing from July 2009.

Selection of Candidates for admission to MFC Programme is done on the basis of an All India Entrance Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview. The details regarding admission are given in Prospectus of MFC.

Eligibility:
Graduate (under 10+2+3)/Post-Graduate in any discipline, viz. Eligibility: A Bachelor’s Degree of a minimum of 3 years duration or its equivalent (under the 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 or 10+2+2+1 year bridge course pattern of study or any other pattern fulfilling the mandatory requirements of 15 years formal education) from a recognized university in any discipline with minimum aggregate marks of 50% (40% for SCs and STs).

Candidates pursuing and completing their final year degree exams by June 20, 2009 (except M.A. in Education (Elementary)) are also eligible to apply, provided they have no backlog in the previous years exams at the time of submission of application.

For M.A. in Education (Elementary) the date for completion of requirements is May 16, 2009. However, for programmes Health Administration, Hospital Administration, Public Health only candidates having completed graduation can apply. Medical students doing their internship should complete it by 20th June, 2009.

Unemployed SC/ST candidates whose parents' income not exceeding Rs. One Lakh during 2007-08 can get the application free of cost through any one of the above four means by submitting copies of Caste & Income Certificates.

Deputed Candidates: Officers deputed by the Central and State Governments and autonomous organizations for studying any of the above programmes will have to submit their applications through proper channel and they will have to appear for test and interview along with other candidates. Officials / teachers and Resource Persons applying for the M.A. in Education (Elementary) Programme will be selected through a suitable screening process comprising documentary evidence of interest and motivation for the programme or an interview.
