Israeli Government Scholarship 2014 for Indians

Applications are invited from Indian nationals for Israeli Government Scholarship tenable from October 2014 to study at an Israeli University or any Institution of higher education in Israel. These scholarships are for research/specialization for 8 months, these scholarships would be available for studies in the following subjects:

* Comparative Study of Religions (with specific reference to Judaism)

* Hebrew language and literature
* History of the Jewish people

Qualification: (i) For the research/specialization studies, a Master’s degree in relevant field with 60% marks or more as on 30-11-2013 for the subjects of Agriculture, Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Environment Studies; and Master’s degree in relevant field with 55% marks or more for the remaining subjects. Further for Hebrew Language and Literature Course a student pursuing the post-graduate course in this subject may also apply.

(ii) Proof of English or Hebrew Language knowledge is a must.

(iii) The applicant should meet the academic requirements of the Israeli University to which he/she applies to.

There is no upper age limit for applying for the scholarship

MSBSHSE Changed HSC Time Table 2013


MSBSHSE Changed HSC Time Table 2013

Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education-MSBSHSE has announced that HSC Time Table changed. A change in the time table for class XII that will start from February 21, 2013.

The decision has been taken as the students and teachers require more time to study the subjects’ revised syllabus.

The HSC chemistry paper, which was slated for February 27, will now be held on March 26.

The Biology paper has been postponed from March 4 to 17.

National Talent Search Examination-NTSE 2009 Modification in Scheme

Modification in the Scheme of Testing National Talent Search Examination-2009

Please note that the following changes have been made in the SAT and MAT for NTS Examination from 2009 onwards.
• The SAT and MAT will have 100 items each in place of 90 items given in the NTS Scheme.
• Each question will carry 1 mark. The total marks will be 100 for each test.
• Minimum qualifying marks will be 40% i.e. 40 marks for general category.
• Minimum qualifying marks for reserved categories will be 32% i.e. 32 marks.
• The duration of the tests will remain the same i.e. 90 minutes each.
• For first 90 questions in both SAT and MAT, the candidates have to put a cross mark (X) on the number of the correct alternative on the answer sheet against the corresponding question. For questions 91-100, the answers are to be written in the given space in the answer sheet.
• In SAT the first 90 items are divided into three areas – 35 for Science, 20 for Mathematics and 35 for Social Science. However, no separate sections are given in the test. The last 10 questions are mixed from different subjects.

Applications in the prescribed forms are invited for admission to Ph.D. programmes in the various disciplines of Agricultural Sciences.

Eligibility: Candidates must have obtained at least 60% marks OR an overall grade point average (OGPA) of 7.50 out of 10.00 OR 3.75 out of 5.00 OR 3.00 out of 4.00 OR 2.25 out of 3.00 (For SC/ST/PH candidates: 55% marks OR OGPA of 6.88 out of 10.00 OR 3.44 out of 5.00 OR 2.75 out of 4.00 OR 2.06 out of 3.00) in Masters Degree Programme.

In case of the universities where OGPA is awarded with equivalence of percentage marks only OGPA will be considered for determining the eligibility qualification for appearing in the entrance examination. The percentage of marks shall be considered only for those candidates coming from universities that do not award grades but award percentage of marks.

The candidates who have appeared in the Masters degree examination in the year 2009 are also eligible to apply provisionally for admission.

Global Indian International School Singapore scholarships 2009

The Singapore-based Global Indian International School (GIIS) is offering scholarships to meritorious students from India who wish to pursue Std 11 & 12th studies there.

Global Indian Foundation (GIF), which operates the largest Pan-Asian educational institution chain, announced the GIIS scholarships for 2009 specially designed for India-based students who want to pursue 11th & 12th studies in either International Baccalaureate (IB) or CBSE, a press release said.

BITS MBA Programme 2009 Application Process

Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra invites applications for admission to the full-time MBA Programme 2009 – 2011 at Mesra, and Extension Centres at Lalpur, Noida and Jaipur.

Eligibility Criteria for BITS MBA:
A. Candidates must have appeared in CAT 2008.

B. They must hold a Bachelor’s degree (minimum 10+2+3) or equivalent in any discipline recognized by the UGC / Ministry of HRD / AIU.

C. Candidates of B.Sc. / B.A. / B. Com. Honours must have minimum 55% marks in average (45% for SC/ST) in their Honours subject. Candidates of BBA and other graduate courses must have minimum 55% marks in average (45% for SC/ST) in graduation, marks to be computed as average of marks obtained in ALL subjects in which candidate has appeared (excluding optional subjects). Candidates graduating in 2009 can also apply, provided they can submit marksheets by 31 October 2009. Candidates with qualifications acquired through correspondence or distance-learning programmes are eligible only if they acquired such qualifications as working professionals / while in employment.

D. Candidates must have Verbal Percentile Score at least 40 (25 for SC/ST) and Total Percentile Score at least 40 (25 for SC/ST) in CAT-2008.

Orissa JEE 2009 on May 24, 2009

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for the year 2009 -2010, Orissa shall be held on Sunday, May 24, 2009 at selected centres for admission to the first year Degree courses in Engineering/ Technology, MBBS/BDS, Pharmacy, MCA, MBA and to the Lateral Entry of State candidates to third semester of degree courses in engineering/Technology and Pharmacy.

ELIGIBILITY
(A) For admission to First Year Bachelor programme in
(i) Engineering/Technology Pass or appearing in 10+2 examination of CHSE, Orissa or equivalent with Physics, Mathematics, and one from Chemistry/ Computer Science/Biology/ Biotechnology or pass in 10+3 diploma course in engineering including those having less than 60% marks in aggregate from SCTE&T, Orissa orequivalent.
(ii) Pharmacy Pass or appearing in 10+2 examination of CHSE, Orissa or equivalent with Physics and Chemistry and one from Mathematics/Biotechnology/Computer Science /Biology or pass in 10+3 diploma course in Pharmacy including those having less than 60% marks in aggregate from SCTE&T, Orissa or equivalent.
(iii) MBBS/BDS Pass or appearing in 10+2 examination of CHSE, Orissa or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Biology with at least 50% marks in aggregate in these subjects taken together (40% for SC/ST) with age between 17 and 25 years as on 31.12.2009 (relaxable up to 3 years for SC/ST candidates).


(B) For admission to First Year Master programme in
(i) Computer Application (MCA) Pass or appearing in 2009 three years Bachelor's Degree examination in any discipline with pass in Mathematics at 10+2 level
(ii) Business Administration (MBA) Pass or appearing in 2009 three years Bachelor's Degree examination in any discipline from a UGC recognized University


(C) For admission to Second Year Engineering/Technology and Pharmacy under Lateral Entry
Pass or appearing in 3 years diploma course in Engineering and Pharmacy with a minimum 60% marks in aggregate from SCTE&VT, Orissa or equivalent


(D) For admission to Second Year Engineering/Technology under Lateral Entry
Pass or appearing in 2009, for the Bachelor's Degree examination of three years duration in Science from any University of Orissa or equivalent recognised by UGC and have passed with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate(First Division) with Mathematics at +3 level


(E) For admission to Second Year Pharmacy under Lateral Entry

More IITs in 2009-10 Interim Budget Proposals

An Ordinance has been promulgated by Mr. Pranab Mukherjee, the Finance Minister of India to establish 15 central universities in the country in addition to 6 new Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) in Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Orissa, Punjab and Gujarat have started functioning in 2008-09 while two more IITs in Madhya Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh are likely to commence their academic session in 2009-10

Two new schools of Planning and Architecture at Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh and Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh have also started functioning informed Mukherjee.

"Academic session is also likely to commence from 2009-10 in four out of six new Indian Institute of Managements (IIMs) proposed to be established in Haryana, Rajasthan, Jharkhand and Tamil Nadu during the XIth five year plan," stated an official release.

Manipal University launched 24 new courses

The Manipal University has launched 24 new courses in various disciplines for the academic session 2009-10. It was announced by Manipal University Registrar G.K. Prabhu here recently.

He also announced that admissions for the 195 courses in 14 disciplines giving Bachelors and Masters Degrees for the academic year 2009-10 were open.

The new courses are: Pharm D, Pharm D Post Baccalaureate, P.G. Diploma in Dental Materials, M. Tech in Industrial Biotechnology, M. Tech in Geo-informatics, M. Tech in Microelectronics, M. Tech in Power Electronic Systems and Control, M. IISERs M.S. Programme admissions 2009

Education and research in science are the foundation of knowledge supremacy, economic prosperity and good health. Taking advantage of latest technological innovations to usher in an era of advanced scientific learning in the country is the primary goal of Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER). Five IISERs have been established by the Government of India at Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Pune and Thiruvananthapuram. This is a unique initiative in science education in India where teaching and education are totally integrated with state-of-the-art research nurturing both curiosity and creativity in an intellectually vibrant atmosphere of research. The IISERs aim to become science institutes of the highest international caliber. Each IISER is an autonomous institution conducting its own Masters and Doctoral programmes. Students are encouraged to work on research projects during the vacation periods in the first four years of their Masters programme in various research institutes outside IISER.

Admission to 5-Year Integrated Masters (M.S.) Programme

Availability of Seats and Reservations
Each IISER will be admitting about 100 candidates. The percentage of seats reserved for different categories as per the Government of India norms are:

Up to 27% for eligible Other Backward Classes (OBC) category (non-creamy layer)
Remaining seats are available for General category
Up to 3% for Physically Disabled (PD) candidates in all the four categories (General, OBC, SC and ST)
Counseling
Counseling for the admission will be held on June 29, 2009 for KVPY stream applicants and on July 2, 2009 for IIT JEE 2009 applicants simultaneously and concurrently at all IISERs. A non-refundable counseling fee of Rs. 1000 will be charged at the time of counseling. This amount will be adjusted against the tuition fee for selected candidates at the time of admission.

Admission
The list of the selected candidates will be announced after counseling is completed at all IISERs. Selected candidates should deposit full admission fees within 15 days of issue of the offer letter, failing which the offer will be withdrawn.

The Indian Institutes of Technologies are conducting a Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. (IIT JAM) for admission to M.Sc. and other post-B.Sc. programs at the IITs.

The main objective of JAM is to provide admissions to various M.Sc., M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual degree and other post-B.Sc. programs based on the performance in a single test and consolidate 'Science' as a career option for bright students from across the country.

Bachelor's degree with Mathematics as a subject for at least one year for annual system candidates/at least two papers of Mathematics for semester system candidates.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION

JAM-2009 qualified candidates shall have to fulfill the following eligibility criteria for admissions in IITs.

• At least 55% aggregate marks (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for General/OBC Category candidates and at least 50% aggregate marks (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for SC/ST and PD Category candidates in the qualifying degree.

For candidates with letter grades/CGPA (instead of percentage of marks), the equivalent percentage of marks will be decided by the admitting institute(s).
At the time of admission, all admitted candidates will have to submit a physical fitness certificate from a registered medical practitioner in the prescribed form. At the time of registration, the admitted candidates may have to undergo a physical fitness test by a medical board constituted by the Admitting Institute. In case a candidate is not found to be physically fit to pursue his/her chosen course of study, his/her admission may be canceled.

Note:
(i) It will entirely be the responsibility of the candidate to prove that he/she satisfies the minimum educational qualifications and eligibility requirements for admissions.

(ii) The Admitting Institute has the right to cancel, at any stage, the admission of a candidate who is found admitted to a course to which he/she is not entitled, being unqualified or ineligible in accordance with the ordinances and regulations in force.

GENERAL INFORMATION
(a) The JAM-2009 is open to all nationals (Indian/Foreign). Candidates seeking admission to academic programs covered under JAM-2009 need to appear in JAM-2009. There is no age restriction.

(b) Foreign nationals will be required to satisfy the prevailing rules on the admission for foreign students of the Admitting Institute(s). For further details, they are advised to contact the Admitting Institute(s) concerned.

(c) To apply for admission to a desired program, a candidate is required to qualify in the corresponding Test Paper and also satisfy the minimum educational qualifications and eligibility criteria of the academic program.

(d) The candidates who have either appeared or are due to appear in the final examination of their qualifying degree in 2009 are also eligible to appear in the Test. On qualifying JAM-2009, such candidates can apply for provisional admission subject to the condition that:

(i) all parts of their final examination shall be over by the date of registration of the Admitting Institute, and

(ii) shall produce the proof of having passed the qualifying degree with required eligibility, as specified by the Admitting Institute, in the form of the final result on or before September 30, 2009.

(e) Admissions to various academic programs at different institutes will be made on the basis of merit in JAM-2009. On the basis of performance in the Test, for each Test Paper, separate merit lists will be prepared for General, OBC (non creamy layer), SC, ST and Persons with Disability (PD) category candidates.

(f) Request for the change of category, if any, with proper documentation, should reach the Organizing Institute by February 10, 2009. Requests received after this date will not be accepted under any circumstances.

(g) Candidates should note that mere appearance in JAM-2009 or being in the merit list of any Test Paper neither guarantees nor provides any automatic entitlement for admission. Qualified candidates shall have to apply for admission as per the prescribed procedure. Admissions shall be made in order of merit and depending on the number of seats available at the Admitting Institute(s).

(h) With regard to the interpretation of the provisions of any matter not covered in this Information Brochure, the decision of the Organizing Institute shall be final and binding on all the parties concerned.

The "OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) Application Form" along with the "Information Brochure" and "Acknowledgment Card" will be available from November 24, 2008 to January 07, 2009 on cash payment of application fee of Rs. 1000/- for General/OBC Category Male candidates, Rs. 900/- for General/OBC Category Female candidates and Rs. 500/- for SC/ST and PD candidates from the following Designated Branches of Canara Bank:

The "OMR Application Form" and the "Information Brochure" can also be obtained by Post from the JAM Office of IIT Kharagpur by making a written request along with the Demand Draft of Rs. 1050/- for General category Male candidates, Rs. 950/- for General category Female candidates and Rs. 550/- for SC/ST and PD candidates, drawn in favour of "Organizing JAM-2009", IIT Kharagpur, payable at Canara Bank, Kharagpur (Branch Code: 0190), and a self-addressed slip (11.0 cm x 6.0 cm). This fee includes Rs. 50/- as postal charges. Such requests must reach the JAM office, IIT Kharagpur, latest by January 7, 2009. The application material shall be dispatched by Registered Post. IIT Kharagpur, however, does not take any responsibility for the late delivery of application material, due to postal delay or loss of documents in transit.

Once an Application Form has been purchased either from the Bank or by post from the JAM Office, IIT Kharagpur, any claim for refund of the fee, for any reason whatsoever, will not be entertained nor can this fee be held in reserve for future.

The OMR Application Form enclosed in the envelope provided with the Information Brochure is to be completed by the candidate in all respects. After reading the instructions given in Section-13, carefully fill in all the items of the form. Fold the form only where it was originally folded. Also write the code(s) of the Test Paper(s) applied, and the first choice of city/town of test on the left-top portion of the envelope.

The candidates desiring to appear for a second Test Paper must clearly mention their option in the OMR Application Form. Such candidates are required to pay an additional fee of Rs. 300/- (Rs. 150/- for SC/ST and PD candidates) through a demand draft in favour of "Organizing JAM-2009", payable at Canara Bank, Kharagpur (Branch Code: 0190). This demand draft is to be sent along with the OMR Application Form.

ONLINE REGISTRATION
The facility for Online Registration will be available through the website http://jam.iitkgp.ac.in from November 24, 2008.

The last date for submission of Online Application Forms on website is January 19, 2009. A candidate can fill-in electronically his/her personal data (Name, Date of Birth, Gender, Nationality, Category, PD Status), Number of Test Papers Applied, Test Paper(s), Cities/Towns for the Test (First and Second choices), Qualifying Examination Passed, Year of Qualifying Examination, Name of Qualifying Degree, Percentage of Aggregate Marks/CGPA (calculated out of 10), Name of the Parent/Guardian, Relationship, Telephone Numbers (landline and mobile) and the Bank Draft details (Name and Code of the issuing Branch, Amount of Demand Draft, Date of Issue and Draft No.).

After electronically filling his/her personal data in the Online Application Form on the website, the candidate must download this form and take a print out of the same. The information pertaining to the Photograph, Declaration and Signature will have to be provided by the candidate on the printed Online Registration Form. The photograph should be glued at the appropriate place provided in the form. The photograph must not be stapled and not be signed/attested.

Candidates, who register online, will get a concession of Rs. 100/- in application fee. If the candidate is appearing in only one test paper, the application fee is Rs. 900/- for General/OBC category Male candidates, Rs. 800/- for General/OBC category Female candidates and Rs. 400/- for SC/ST and PD candidates. The candidates desiring to appear in two Test Papers must clearly mention their options in the Online Registration Form. For such candidates, the application fee is Rs. 1200/- for General/OBC category Male candidates, Rs. 1100/- for General/OBC category Female candidates and Rs. 550/- for SC/ST and PD candidates. The appropriate application fee must be in the form of a Demand Draft drawn in favour of "Organizing JAM-2009", payable at Canara Bank, Kharagpur (Branch Code: 0190). The candidate may keep an identical photograph in reserve for future need. The candidate is also advised to keep a photocopy of the completed Online Registration Form for his/her record.

Acknowledgement Card:
A printed acknowledgement card is enclosed with the OMR Application Form. The candidate has to write his/her name and mailing address in the space provided and enclose this card with the OMR Application Form after affixing postage stamp of Rs. 6/-. The Organizing Institute will post the card immediately on receipt of the OMR Application Form. The acknowledgement card must not be stapled with the OMR Application Form.

In the case of Online Registration, on receipt of duly completed Online Registration Form along with requisite Demand Draft for application fee (as applicable) and a self-addressed envelope with stamp(s) of Rs. 6/-, an acknowledgement will be sent by the JAM Office, IIT Kharagpur, at the address given by the candidate.

List of Enclosures and the Address for Sending the Completed OMR Application Form/Online Registration Form:
The following documents should be enclosed along with the Completed OMR Application Form: (i) Bank/JAM Office Pay-in-slip, (ii) Stamped Acknowledgement Card, (iii) Demand Draft for the Second Test Paper, if applicable, (iv) SC/ST/OBC (non creamy layer) Certificate (copy), if applicable, and (v) Disability Certificate (copy), if applicable.

The following documents should be enclosed along with the Completed Online Registration Form: (i) Demand Draft for the appropriate Application fee, (ii) A self-addressed envelope with stamp(s) of Rs. 6/-, (iii) SC/ST/OBC (non creamy layer) Certificate (copy), if applicable, and (iv) Disability Certificate (copy), if applicable.
Irrespective of the choice of the cities/towns of test centers, candidate must send the duly filled in OMR Application Form or completed Online Registration Form, as the case may be, along with all necessary enclosures indicated above, to the following address:

Last Date for Receipt of the Completed OMR Application Form/Online Registration Form:
Last date for receipt of the duly completed OMR Application Form/Online Registration Form at the JAM Office, IIT Kharagpur, is January 22, 2009. Any OMR Application Form/Online Registration Form received after this date will not be accepted. Any delay in receiving the application material by the candidate will not be considered as a valid reason for the late submission of the completed OMR Application Form after the deadline. The institute will not be responsible for any postal delay or irregularity or loss in postal transit.

National Power Training Institute MBA in Power Management

National Power Training Institute in association with Centre for Advanced Management and Power Studies (CAMPS), invites applications for MBA Program in Power Management (2009-11) session.

Eligibility:
