CEED 2010 Application Process

CEED 2010 Application Process

Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) is an all India examination conducted by IIT Bombay, on behalf of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. CEED is a qualifying examination for Admission to Master of Design (M.Des.) Programmes at IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati and IIT Kanpur, and Ph.D. Programmes in Design in some Institutes.

Objective:

- Assessment of aptitude for design, involving:
- Visual perception ability
- Drawing skills
- Logical reasoning
- Creativity and communication skills
Qualifying Examination for Admission to Master of Design (M.Des) Programmes at IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi,

IIT Guwahati and IIT Kanpur, and Ph.D. Programmes in Design in some of the above Institutes, for the Academic Year 2010-2011.

CEED Application Form may be submitted by ONLINE (Internet based), ONLINE submission can be made by accessing the link provided on this page. The ONLINE application fee (non-refundable) is Rs.950 (Rs.475 for SC/ST/PD applicants).

PG in Photography Design by NID

Post Graduate Certificate Course in Photography Design

First time event in India by National Institute of Design

The innovative twin certificate course provides the student with creative and intellectual environment to enable them to develop their personal aspirations within the community of their peers, and broader network of artists, designers and industry professionals.

It is intended for graduates who have appropriate background in photography and who wish to undertake further studies in practice, theory and creative interest of photography.

The course has a focus on research, in areas such as history, critique and theory of photography practice, the course is designed in such a way that to equip the students with the advanced knowledge of debates that have shaped the practice of photography and to place their work in the context of professional practice which is being necessary considered by digital world.

The course runs over two semesters (1 year) full-time and offers the opportunity for students to undertake some part of the semester two of their course at University College of Creative Arts, Farnham, UK. And the award will be a post graduate certificate.

The institute offers Graduate Programme in Design (GDPD) in its Heritage Campus, Ahmedabad and Post-Graduate Diploma Programme in Design (PGDPD) in its three campuses. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Students coming from a number of different academic backgrounds, including first degree courses in photography and wide variety of other fields including: (BFA/B.Arch/B.Des/B.Litt/Graduation in Commn. Media, Film and TV, Mass Media/or Equivalent/ or Graduates in any discipline with one year relevant industry experience/ creative pursuits).

The screening will be based on the assessment of portfolio consisting of photographs or creative expressions demonstrating their conceptual and technical skills. Once shortlisted the students will be called for personal interview.

Selected candidates are expected to have basic equipments such as digital SLR/Analog SLR, required for their work. Specialist equipment and other facilities will be provided by the institute for the course.

FEE for the non- residential course: Rs 2.5 lacs

Overseas travel/stay is entirely optional and will be extra estimated at Rs 25000/- (for to and fro travel to UK)

For residential facility students can opt for NID’s Infocity Hostel for which payment for room and mess will be extra and is estimated at Rs 36000/- per annum.

Design Diploma / Degree from NIFT / NID only
Candidates having relevant industry experience in areas of Fashion / Textile / Communication Design would be preferred.

*If a candidate possessing Graduation Degree in any discipline applies for the course, then he / she has to compulsory undergo 2 months (i.e. 8 weeks) training programme to develop the desired skills before taking on the course itself.

Eligibility for Master Programme - Management
M.F.M. (Master of Fashion Management)

A three years Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in any discipline recognized by the Association of Indian Universities or Diploma in Accessory / Fashion Design / FIT from NIFT only.

For foreign Bachelor’s Degree, not recognized by the Association of Indian Universities, proper certification by a National Body constituted in the country concerned for granting equivalence will have to be produced.

ELIGIBILITY FOR MASTER PROGRAMME - TECHNOLOGY
M.FTech. (Master of Fashion Technology)

B.E. / B.Tech. (Textiles / Apparel / Mechanical / Industrial / Production / Electronics / Computer / Information Technology)

IMPORTANT NOTE
Candidates appearing for their qualifying examinations can also apply. Their admission, however, will be provisional and subject to obtaining the defined eligibility. Proof of the candidates having successfully passed the qualifying examination will have to be produced at the time of joining the programme. In case, candidates do not produce the required documents by 30Th June, 2009, their admission will be cancelled and 50% of the tuition fee will be refunded.
Non fulfillment of the above conditions will automatically result in the cancellation of the provisional admission.

ADMISSION TEST

All eligible candidates will have to appear for a written entrance examination at the Examination Centres opted by them. The written entrance examination is designed to test the knowledge, skill and aptitude of the candidates for the programmed opted.

The objective type tests are subject to negative marking. The negative marking will apply at the rate of 0.25 for each wrong answer.

The written entrance examination will be conducted on 8Th February, 2009 at the cities mentioned in the table.
The candidate has to select only ONE city for the examination. The candidate should write the two-digit Exam Centre Code on the OMR(Optical Marker Reader) Application Form at item no. 15, and shade the corresponding oval below each digit.

Candidature are cautioned to fill this code and shade correctly as the allotment of the required Examination Centre will be based on this information only.

Please note that NIFT reserves the right to cancel any of the Examination Centres mentioned. In such case , alternate centre which is administratively convenient will be allotted.

The six-month specialisation is targeted primarily at people who have some knowledge of animation and are looking for honing their skills or furthering their careers.

National Entrance Examination for Design (NEED - 2009)

Eligibility: 1. Admission is open to students who have passed or who will appear for qualifying examinations in 2008 under the Higher Secondary (10+2), or equivalents like AISSCE/ IB/ ICSE etc. Candidates passing the Institute’s admission tests/ interviews will be admitted, subject to passing their qualifying examinations before they join the Institute. - - - - - 2. Upper age limit for candidates is 20 years (relaxable by 3 years for reserved categories) as on June 01, 2009. - - - - - Competence in technical and related subjects will normally be considered an advantage.

Application procedure: Application forms along with the prospectus for the ensuing academic year will be made available on request from the second week of October on payment of Rs.1500/- (Rs.750/- for reserved categories SC/ST/PH/OBC) by a Demand Draft of any nationalised bank drawn in favour of the ‘ National Institute of Design’ payable at Ahmedabad, along with a self-addressed envelope of 8” X 12” size with Rs.25/- stamps affixed.
