GATE 2018 Application Process


GATE 2018 Application Process

Admissions to postgraduate programs (Master's and Doctoral) with MHRD and other Government Scholarships / Assitantships in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Science are open ti those who qualify in GATE. The GATE score is also used t some PSUs for their recruitment . GATE 2018 score will be valid for three years. Examinations for all the papers will be Computer Based Test.

For examination centres in India, the application fee is Rs 750/- for female candidates. Rs 750/- for SC/ST/PwD candidates and RS 1500/- for all other candidates.

For examination centres in Dubai and Singapore, the application fee is US $100/- and for Addis Ababa, Colombo, Dhaka and Kathmandu US $ 50 will be applicable.

The application fee has to be paid ONLINE. The application fee once paid shall not be refunded.

Dates of Examination : 3,4,10,11 February 2018

GATE 2015 Download Admit Cards from 17th December

The admit cards for the candidates appearing for Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering (GATE) 2015 can be downloaded on December 17, 2015. As mentioned on GATE 2015 website candidates are required to download the admit cards from the website itself, GATE will not be responsible for disseminating admit cards to any candidate.

GATE is held twice a year for testing the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering and science. GATE 2015 examinations will be held during forenoon and afternoon sessions on alternate weekends (Saturday and Sunday) between 31st January 2015 and 8th February 2015. Examination for some of the papers in GATE 2015 will be held in multiple sessions.

IIT GATE 2015 Application Process

IIT Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of the candidate in various undergraduate subjects in Engineering/Technology/Architecture and post-graduate level subjects in Science. The GATE score of a candidate reflects a relative performance level in a particular subject in the exam across several years. The score is used for admissions to post-graduate programs (e.g., M.E., M.Tech, direct Ph.D.) in Indian institutes of higher education with financial assistance provided by MHRD and other Government agencies. The score may also be used by Public and Private Sector Undertakings for employment screening purposes.

For GATE 2015 all information related to the candidates will be available in a single GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS). Candidates have to register and fill the application via ONLINE mode ONLY by accessing the zonal GATE websites of IISc and any of the seven IITs. The photograph and signature of the applicant must be uploaded during the online application. Please note that all necessary certificates, such as, degree certificate/certificate from the Principal and the category certificate, if any are also to be uploaded. Please note that application forms are not available for sale anywhere else.

The question paper for GATE 2015 will consist of questions of both multiple-choice type and numerical answer type. For multiple choice type questions, candidates have to choose the answer from the given choices. For numerical answer type questions, choices will not be given. Candidates have to enter a number as the answer using a virtual keypad.

GATE 2015 examinations will be held during forenoon and afternoon on alternate weekends (Saturday and Sunday) between 31st January, 1st 07th, 08th and 14th February 2015

GATE 2013 Results Announced

Indian Institute of Technology Bombay-IITB the organising institute for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering-GATE 2013 announced the results on March 15, 2013.

A total of 12,00,728 candidates registered for GATE 2013 and 9,84,855 candidates (82.02%) appeared for GATE 2013 exam of which 1,36,699 (13.88%) have qualified the exam. Women candidates comprised 39.75% of the total registrants.

GATE administer jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institute of Technology, is a nationally conducted examination.

Admission to postgraduate programmes with government scholarships or assistantships in engineering colleges,institutes, and universities is open to those who qualify through this test. Fifteen Public Sector Units-PSUs have signed an MoU with IIT Bombay to receive the official GATE 2013 results across various papers for employment screening purposes.

GATE 2013 qualified candidate need to apply separately to each of the IITs and IISc to seek admission to postgraduate programmes

National Brain Research Centre-NBRC , a premier institute for neuroscience research and education,invites applications for admission to Ph.D and Integrated M.Sc-Ph.D programmes for the year 2013

Ph.D. in Neuroscience : NBRC offers a Ph.D. programme in Neuroscience. Students from diverse backgrounds are considered for this programme. Fellowship for Junior Research Fellows is Rs.16000 per month and for Senior Research Fellows it is Rs.18000 per month.

Integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D. in Neuroscience : NBRC is one of the first Institutes in the country to develop an Integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D. programme in Neuroscience. These students are provided a fellowship of Rs.5000 per month for the first two years. From third year, they are paid fellowships on par with the Ph.D. students. After completion of the programme, the students will be awarded both M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees.

Candidates desirous of admission to NBRC should either appear for Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Science (JGEEBILS) or
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE-2012/GATE-2013).

Candidates will be short-listed for a two-tier interview based on their performance in the JGEEBILS examination or their score in the GATE examination.

Admission to Postgraduate Courses (Master's and Doctoral) with MHRD and other Govt Scholarships of Assistantships in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Science is open to those who qualify in GATE. Some papers of GATE will be conducted online while the rest will be conducted offline.

Candidates have to apply ONLINE. The application fee is Rs.1200 for General / OBC category candidates and Rs.600 for the SC/ST/PD category candidates. The application fee is not refundable. Pl. note that women candidates are exempt from application fees.

GATE 2010 Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering 2010

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India examination administered and conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technology on behalf of the National Coordination Board - GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.

GATE is conducted through the constitution of eight zones. The zones and the corresponding administrative institutes are:

Zone-1: Indian Institute of Science Bangalore
Zone-2: Indian Institute of Technology Bombay
Zone-3: Indian Institute of Technology Delhi
Zone-4: Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati
Zone-5: Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur
Zone-6: Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur
Zone-7: Indian Institute of Technology Madras
Zone-8: Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee

The overall coordination and responsibility of conducting GATE 2010 lies with Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, designated as the Organising Institute for GATE 2010 .

Admission to postgraduate programmes with MHRD and some other government scholarships/ assistantships in engineering colleges/institutes is open to those who qualify through GATE. GATE qualified candidates with Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture or Master’s degree in any branch of Science/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Applications are eligible for admission to Master/Doctoral programmes in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture as well as for Doctoral programmes in relevant branches of Science with MHRD or other government scholarships/assistantships. To avail the scholarship, the candidate must secure admission to such a postgraduate programme, as per the prevailing procedure of the admitting institution. However, candidates with Master’s degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture may seek admission to relevant PhD programmes with scholarship/assistantship without appearing in the GATE examination.

Some institutions specify GATE qualification as mandatory even for admission of self-financing students to postgraduate programmes. GATE qualified candidates are also eligible for the award of Junior Research Fellowship in CSIR Laboratories and CSIR sponsored projects. Top rank holders in some GATE papers are entitled to apply for “Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Fellowship” awarded by CSIR. Some government organizations prescribe GATE qualification as a requirement for applying to the post of a Scientist / Engineer.

ELIGIBILITY -:
The following categories of candidates are eligible to appear in GATE :

Bachelor degree holders in Engineering/Technology/Architecture (4 years after 10+2) and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes.

Master degree holders in any branch of Science/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes.

Candidates in the second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master degree programme (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/Technology or in the third or higher year of Five-year Integrated Master degree programme and Dual Degree programme in Engineering/Technology.

Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognised by UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE by IE(I), AMICE(I) by the Institute of Civil Engineers (India)-ICE(I)) as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech. Those who have completed section A or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible.

Information Brochure and Application Form can be obtained on cash payment of Rs 1000/- (Rs 500/- for SC/ST/PD) from the designated Bank Branches corresponding to each zone (as given below). Candidates can also obtain Information Brochure and Application Form by Post from the zonal GATE offices by sending a request letter and two self-addressed slips along with a Demand Draft for the amount (mentioned as above) payable at the city of the respective zonal GATE office (for details, Click Here). Physical Research Laboratory Ph.D. Programme 2009

Applications are invited from highly motivated students to pursue doctoral research in the following areas: Planetary Exploration, astronomy,Astrophysics, Solar Physics, Planetary and Geosciences, space and Atmospheric in the prescribed form should be submitted online at website: http://www.prl.res.in. Those with no access to internet may obtain a printed application form by post by sending a self-addressed envelope with postal stamps of Rs.10/-affixed on it, to the address given below:

Eligibility:

M.Sc. in one of the following subjects: Physics, Space Sciences, Atmospheric sciences, chemistry(physics nuclear/analytical),Geology, Geophysics,ocean sciences. Engineering students with M.E/M.Tech (in Electronics and Communication or computer Engineering or Information Technology or Mechanical Engineering) are also eligible to pursue the Ph.D. programme in physical sciences. They must have physics and mathematics at the B.Sc.level. A minimum of 60% marks at the Masters level is required for all candidates. Those appearing for Masters Degree examination in 2009 may also to apply. Those who applied earlier and were not selected need not apply again. Age limit: Not more than 25 years as on 31.12.2008.

Selection procedure: Written test, followed by personal interview for those who qualify in the written test. These will be held at the PRL main campus at Ahemedabad. Written test may be waived for candidates who have qualified with exceptionally good rank in any of the following I) JEST-2009 ii) GATE(IN PHYSICS)2008-09 iii) UGC-CSIR NET in 2007-08 in subject code-1, chemical sciences, or subject code-2, Earth, Atmospheric, ocean and planetary sciences, or subject code-5, physical sciences.

A Photocopy of the GATE/NET result must accompany the application, if applicable. If the NET certificate is not available a copy of the admit card and a print-out of the online results with the candidates roll number circled should be sent. Candidates who have qualified JEST2009 should mention their roll number rank and percentage.

Stipend and Facilities:

Rs.12000/- per month, raised to Rs.14000/- per month after two years, subject to satisfactory review, a book grant of Rs.5000/-per year, and accommodation at a nominal charge. Students may also be partially supported for attending conferences abroad during their tenure.

Eligibility: An applicant should have:

A Master’s degree in any subject/discipline or equivalent professional qualification with at least 55 per cent marks; and minimum 50 per cent aggregate marks at the three year Bachelor’s degree level

OR

A First Class Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. If "Class" is not given by the institute then 60 per cent marks (or equivalent grade point) will be considered equivalent to first class.

In addition, all applicants must have obtained a minimum of 50 per cent aggregate marks in either the Secondary or the Higher Secondary Examination (or equivalent) of a Board or University. Final year students appearing for the Bachelor’s degree examination in Engineering or Master’s degree examination in any relevant discipline can also apply. Such candidates, if selected, will be provisionally admitted provided they complete all requirements for obtaining the degree before 30 June, 2009. The admission of these candidates will remain provisional until they produce mark sheets proving that they satisfy the eligibility criteria. The deadline for submitting the final year degree mark sheets is 31st December, 2009. For SC/ST candidates the eligibility conditions may be relaxed.

Application procedure: Candidates must submit a completed Fellow Programme Application Form to the Fellow Programme Office of the Institute. Download and print the FP application form. Or, for a printed copy of the form, write to the Administrative Officer (Fellow Programmes and Research), Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, Joka, Diamond Harbour Road, Kolkata 700 104, along with (a) a crossed demand draft for Rs. 300/- payable to “Indian Institute of Management Calcutta” on a bank in Kolkata (b) a self-addressed unstamped envelope of 9”x12”size (c) desired area(s) of specialization, and (d) a printed self-addressed sticker.

No fee is charged from SC/ST applicants but they must send a photocopy of their SC/ST certificates.
