GUJCET 2010 Application Process

Gujarat Common Entrance Test 2010-GUJCET 2010

Common Entrance Test for admissions to Degree Engineering, Diploma/Degree
Pharmacy as well as Medical Course after Std.XII Science Stream. The Gujarat
Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board has been assigned to hold
the Common Entrance Test. This year the Board will hold Gujarat Common
Entrance Test 2010 (GUJCET 2010) on 8th April, 2010 (Thursday). The Board
has prepared an Information Booklet and Application Form for GUJCET 2010.
The Booklet and Application Forms for Common Entrance Test will be available
on payment of Rs.250/- by Demand Draft from nationalized bank payable at
Ahmedabad in favour of “Secretary, Gujarat Common Entrance Test Cell,
Gandhinagar” from the following Distribution Centers during the time and date
prescribed below :
Eligibility of Candidates for GUJCET 2010:
(i) Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Certificate Examination
Science Stream conducted by the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary
Education Board, Gandhinagar or the candidates who have filled in application
form for appearing and Eligible for appearing in the examination of Std.XII
Science Stream/ candidates going to appear in examination of Std.XII Science
Stream in the very year in which the candidate has filled in application form
for Common Entrance Test.
(ii) Candidates who have passed Std.XII Science Stream examination conducted
by the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi through the recognized
school situated in the State of Gujarat or the candidates who have filled in
application form for appearing in the examination of Std.XII Science Stream
through recognized school/candidates going to appear in examination of Std.XII
Science Stream in the very year in which the candidates have filled in
application form for Common Entrance Test.
(iii)Candidates who have passed Std.XII Science Stream examination conducted
by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi through
the recognized school situated in the State of Gujarat or the candidates who
have filled in application form for appearing in the examination of Std.XII Science
Stream through recognized school/candidates going to appear in examination
of Std.XII Science Stream in the very year in which the candidates have filled
in application form for Common Entrance Test.
(iv)Candidates who are the heirs of the officers/employees who are basically from
the State of Gujarat but performing their duties in other States as the officers/
employees of Central/State Government, Military Forces or the Board/Corporation
governed by the Central/State Government, who have passed Std.XII
Science Stream examination conducted by the Higher Secondary Education
Board situated in the State in which they are performing duties or the candidates
who have filled in application form for appearing in the examination of Std.XII
Science Stream or the candidates going to appear in examination of Std.XII
Science Stream in the very year in which the candidates have filled in application
form for Common Entrance Test.
(v) Other candidates who are eligible to get admission in the said courses as per
the admission Rules framed from time to time by ‘Joint Admission Committee
for Professional Courses’, Admission Building, L.D. College of Engineering
Campus, Ambawadi, Ahmedabad-380015 for admission in Engineering and
Degree/Diploma Pharmacy course and ‘Centralized Admission Committee’, C/
o.Dean, B.J. Medical College, Ahmedabad-380016 for admission in Medical
course, who have passed Std.XII Science Stream examination or the candidates
who have filled in application form for appearing in the examination of Std.XII
Science Stream or the candidates going to appear in the said examination.

Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode FPM 2010

Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode FELLOW PROGRAMME IN MANAGEMENT-FPM 2010


The admission to FPM of IIMK will be open to all Indian citizens, Non-Resident Indians, Persons of Indian Origin and foreigners. Admission will be based on academic qualifications, performance in the qualifying examination, personal interviews and work experience. Candidates will be assessed for their intellectual abilities and research aptitude.

Eligibility-:

(i) The candidates should possess one of the following qualifications.

Post-Graduate degree or equivalent in any discipline (including M.A, M.Sc., M.Com, MBA, MCA, M.Tech) with at least 55% marks or equivalent CGPA.
Professional qualifications of CA, ICWA and CS with at least 50% marks or equivalent.
Professional qualifications such as MBBS and LLB with at least 55% marks or equivalent CGPA*.
Engineering degrees, viz., B.Tech and BE, with at least 60% marks or equivalent CGPA*.
* Additional minimum 3 years relevant experience required for applying to Marketing Area.

Those who are appearing for their final examinations for the above qualifications in 2009-10 are also eligible to apply. However, their final selection will be subject to successful completion of all requirements for the qualification latest by June 30, 2010.

Candidates possessing PGDM of IIMs with a minimum CGPA of 2.5 out of 4.33 or equivalent will be eligible for applying directly, i.e., without again taking a qualifying examination.

IIMK encourages applications from Non-Resident Indians, Persons of Indian origin and foreign citizens. Such candidates should have a valid GMAT/GRE score of not older than 2 years from the date of application.

(iii) Personal Interview : Shortlisted candidates will be called for personal interview at IIMK (or any other venue fixed by the Institute) on a suitable date. During the interview, the candidates will be assessed for their intellectual abilities and research aptitude as well as their interest in management discipline.

Admission to the MBBS course 2010

Admissions to MBBS course commencing from 02 Aug 2010. Total 130 candidates (including a maximum of 25 girls) will be selected. All the 105 boys and 25 girls admitted to Armed Forces Medical College, Pune have compulsory liability to serve as commissioned officers in the Armed Forces Medical Services on graduation.

All candidates admitted to the college are required to execute a bond to this effect for an amount of Rs. 15 lacs (Rupees Fifteen lacs) at the time of joining the college. Students removed from service liability due to any reason will have to pay the bond money as per conditions laid down by Govt of India.

Ten seats are reserved for SC/ST candidates who also have similar service liability and have to fulfil the requirements of medical fitness, age, educational qualification and qualifying the entrance examination as per details given in the prospectus.

SPECIAL CONCESSIONS : The Govt will provide free accommodation and entitled rations, subsidised messing, AC 3 Tier free railway warrant from college to home and back during vacations, a book subsidy of Rs. 12,000/- during entire training period, uniform allowance of Rs. 6000/- per student during first year and Rs. 1250/- per year as maintenance allowance in subsequent years and any other misc allowances as applicable.

All candidates should be medically fit as per laid down standards for the Armed Forces.

Only unmarried candidates are eligible. Marriage during the course is not permitted. The college is fully and compulsorily residential both for boys and girls.

ELIGIBILITY AND QUALIFICATIONS TO APPEAR IN THE ENTRANCE EXAMINATION GENERAL
A candidate seeking admission to the MBBS Course is eligible to take the entrance
examination if he/she fulfills the following criteria:-

(a) A candidate should be citizen of India. The candidate may be a subject of Nepal or Bhutan or a person of Indian origin migrated from Pakistan or any other foreign country with the intention of permanently settling in India. Foreign nationals of Indian origin may be admitted only after they have acquired Indian citizenship or in respect of whom a certificate of eligibility is issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

(b) Must be unmarried. Marrying during the course is not permitted.

(c) Should be medically fit as per prescribed standards by the Govt of India, Ministry of Defence (see Appendix 'A').

(d) Must have attained the age of 17 years on 31 Dec 2010 but must not have attained the age of 22 years on that date i.e. must have been born not earlier than 01 January 1989 and not later than 31 December 1993, if the academic qualification of the candidate is 10+2 or equivalent. A candidate who has passed B.Sc. examination or will be appearing in Final B.Sc. examination and seeking admission must not have attained the age of 24 years i.e. must have been born not earlier than 01 January1987.

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must have passed one of the following qualifying examinations in the first attempt with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken simultaneously and securing not less than 60% of the aggregate marks in these three science subjects taken together and not less than 50% marks in English and 50% marks in each of the science subjects. They must have also passed an examination in Mathematics of the tenth standard:-

(a) The Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent examination in Science of a statutory Indian University/board or other recognised examination body with English, Physics, Chemistry & Biology which shall include practical test in all of these science subjects.

(b) The Pre-professional/Pre-Medical examination with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (after passing either Higher Secondary School examination or pre- University or equivalent examination) which shall include practical test in these science subjects.


(c) Ist year of three years Degree course of a recognised University with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology including practical test in Science subjects provided the examination is a University Examination.

(d) Senior Secondary of a statutory Examination Board of Indian School Certificate examination of 12 years of study, last two years of study comprising of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics or any other elective subject with English at higher level.


(e) Higher Secondary School Certificate examination of Maharashtra State Board of Higher Secondary Education with English at Higher level, any one of the Modern Indian or Modern Foreign or Classical Languages, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics or any other elective subject.

(f) Any other examination which in scope and standard is found to be equivalent to the Higher Secondary Science/Pre-Professional/Pre-medical Examination of Indian University/Board with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology including practical test in each of these Science subjects.

(g) B.Sc. Examination of a recognised Indian University provided that he/she has passed the B.Sc. Examination in not less than two of the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany, Zoology) and further that he/she has passed the qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. The criteria for marks in Qualifying Examination (i.e. 10 + 2 or equivalent exam) remains the same for the B.Sc. candidates also.

(h) Candidates who have appeared or will be appearing in qualifying examination up to 01 May 2010 may also apply. Admission, if selected, however, will be subject to passing and meeting the eligibility criteria as per paras 10 and 11 above.

(j) Regarding the requirement of Mathematics, candidate who has passed Higher Secondary, Senior Cambridge or Indian School Certificate examination and had not offered Mathematics in the final year will be deemed eligible if he/she had studied Mathematics up to the pre-final year stage (X Class) and had passed an examination in the subject provided it was at least of Tenth standard. A certificate signed by the Head Master or Principal of the school in which candidate has studied should be produced at the time of interview in such cases. A candidate who had not taken Mathematics at the Tenth or an equivalent examination but had subsequently passed in Mathematics as an additional subject in I. Sc. /B.Sc. examination is also eligible.

The following categories of candidates are not eligible to apply:-

(a) Candidates who have passed in Domestic Science, Domestic Arithmetic, Lower Maths separately or in combination with other subjects like General Science/Social studies in High School/Higher Secondary (Multipurpose) or equivalent examination.

(b) Candidates who have passed only Pre-University/Pre-Degree (one year course) or Pre- Professional in Agriculture/ Veterinary/ Dental Examination.


(c) Candidates who have passed the Pre-professional or equivalent qualifying examination as a Private candidate.


(d) Candidates who have secured the requisite percentage but in subsequent attempts or compartment examination.

METHOD OF SELECTION : Candidates will be required to appear in the competitive written test of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Intelligence, Logic, Reasoning, English Language and Comprehension on 02 May 2010. The candidate should enclose an application for obtaining prospectus and application form giving his/her particulars and address and enclose a self addressed envelope of 11" X 13" size and affix postage stamp of Rs. 55/-. New Fellowship for Students of Minority Communities

Government of India launched new fellowship scheme for the welfare of minority communities-: Maulana Abul Kalam Azad National Fellowship for Students from Minority Communities

Maulana Abul Kalam Azad National Fellowship for Students from Minority Communities is to provide integrated five-year fellowships in the form of financial assistance to students from minority communities,to pursue higher studies such as M. Phil and Ph.D.

The scheme will cover all Universities/Institutions recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) and section 3 of the UGC Act and will be implemented by the Ministry of Minority Affairs (MoMA) through UGC for students belonging to the minority communities.

The fellowship under National Fellowship will be on the pattern of UGC Fellowships awarded to research students pursuing regular and full time M. Phil and Ph.D courses.

The fellowship holders under this scheme will be known as MoMA scholars.

The total number of fellowships each year will be 756. In case of non-availability of adequate number of candidates, the number of fellowships not availed during a year will be carried forward to the next academic session.

30% of the fellowship shall be earmarked for women students; remaining 70% will be general.

Indian Institute of Space Sciences and Technology(IIST) Asia's first Space University was established under the Department of Space, Govt. of India in September 2007. The Institute provides a vibrant research environment supported by highly qualified faculty members, excellent infrastructure and facilities and also shares the state-of-art facilities of ISRO.

Applications are invited for admission to the Ph.D Programme starting in February 2010 in the areas of Aerospace Engineering, Avionics, Chemistry, Earth and Space Sciences, Mathematics and Physics. Details of current research areas are given in the website : www.iist.ac.in

Eligibility : Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in the relevant area with first class or equivalent. However, outstanding candidates with Bachelor's degree in engineering with an excellent academic record and aptitude for research may be considered for direct admission to the Ph.D. Programme.

Research Fellowship and Placement : IIST Ph.D Research Fellowship will be Rs.35,000/- pm (all inclusive) Ph.D Scholars will be required to assist in the academic activities of the department. normally limited to 8 hours per week. No tuition / registration fee will be payable by the Ph.D candidates. However, the candidates will have to pay for the boarding / lodging etc., wherever applicable. the candidates will be required to execute a bond to serve ISRO / IIST for a minimum period of three years on successful completion of Ph.D in a position appropriate for doctoral degree holders.

Selection Procedure : Selection will be based on a written test followed by an interview to be conducted during the 3rd / 4th week of January 2010. in Thiruvananthapuram. Outstation candidates will be paid to and fro sleeper class train fare by shortest route.

Allocation of a successful OCES trainee to a DAE unit is done based on the merit at the end of the OCES programme. DAE reserves the right to place a small number of selected candidates/ trainees to any other unit under the Atomic Energy Commission or Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) apart from those listed above.

Successful completion of course work at the Training School will entitle trainees to Post-Graduate Diploma of Homi Bhabha National Institute(HBNI), a Deemed to be University. This could also earn them credits towards MTech/MPhil/PhD of HBNI provided their performance is above a specified threshold.

DGFS 2010-: Two-year DAE Graduate Fellowship Scheme for Engineering Graduates and Physics Post-Graduates for the term beginning in 2010 (DGFS-2010). Under this scheme, Engineering Graduates and Physics Post-Graduates who are selected for the Training School programme and who also have secured admission for MTech in select institutes in specializations, are paid stipend and tuition fee to study for MTech degree. After successful completion of one-year course work at select institute, fellows undertake project work, which is assigned and supervised jointly by a DAE and institute guide. On successful completion of MTech, they are posted as Scientific Officers in DAE. On joining, they are required to first undertake a four-month Orientation Course (OCDF) at the BARC Training School, which is meant to introduce them to specific academic requirements of the DAE programmes. The DGFS fellows are enrolled and posted in one of the following units of DAE:
a) BARC, Mumbai
b) RRCAT, Indore
c)IGCAR, Kalpakkam
d) NPCIL, Mumbai .

Allocation of a DGFS fellow to a DAE unit is done at the beginning of the MTech programme.

Selected candidates are required to execute an agreement and a personal Indemnity Bond to serve DAE or AERB for at least three years after completion of training. Indemnity Bond is for Rs.2,45,000/- for OCES trainees and Rs.5,05,000/- for DGFS fellows. No third party surety is required .

During Training: (i) Stipend and Allowances : OCES trainees as well as DGFS fellows are paid stipend of Rs.20,000/- per month during the period of their training and a one-time book allowance of Rs.5,000/-.

(ii) Boarding and Lodging in DAE/select institute Hostel/Guest House is mandatory .

On Appointment: Appointment in BHAVINI and NPCIL is governed by the service rules of Corporations, whereas appointment in other units shall be as a Group A ‘Gazetted Officer’ of the Government of India.

Grade and Pay Scale: Appointment in all the units shall be as a Scientific Officer (C) in the pay band 15600-39100 with a grade pay of Rs.5400. Appointment will be at the beginning of the pay scale with OCES trainees getting two or three increments depending on their performance during the OCES programme and the DGFS fellows getting three or four increments depending on their performance in MTech and four-month Orientation Course. Emoluments (with three increments) at the time of joining including Dearness Allowance at the present rate will be approximately Rs. 24000. In addition, other Allowances are also payable such as House Rent, Transport and Professional Update Allowances, & Leave Travel Concession. A comprehensive Contributory Health Service Scheme for employees and their dependent family members is also available at all DAE Units .

Selection Process
Selection to OCES/DGFS is a two-step process: screening to short-list candidates followed by interview of the short-listed candidates. Except for RSE discipline (code 44), there is a separate selection process for each of the other disciplines listed in Table-1. RSE is available only as an additional option to applicants for Physics and Chemistry disciplines (codes 41 and 42).

Screening for the Engineering disciplines (codes 21-29) is based on two alternative methods :

(a) Cut-off GATE Score for short-listing candidates for interview will be declared on the website.

(b) Written Test: It is conducted in each of the seven Engineering disciplines (codes 21-27) except Civil Engineering (Code-29) at the centers listed in Table-4 (along with their codes) for short-listing candidates for interview. Candidates who do not opt for GATE or who do not qualify on the basis of GATE Score may take the Written Test. Travel Allowance is not paid for appearing in it. The written test is scheduled on Sunday, May 23, 2010.

Screening for the Science disciplines (codes 41-43 & 45-46) is based on two alternative methods:

(a) Written Test: It is conducted in each of the five Science disciplines (codes 41-43 & 45-46) at the centers listed in Table-4 along with their codes for short-listing candidates for interview. Travel Allowance is not paid for appearing in the written test. Written test is scheduled on Sunday, February 28, 2010.

(b) GATE Score: In this case, merit list in each of the Science disciplines (codes 41-43 & 45-46) is prepared on the basis of valid GATE Score of the applicants.
Cut-off GATE score and Written test marks for short-listing candidates for interview in each discipline are decided after the last date of receipt of applications. A candidate applying for Science disciplines (codes 41-43 & 45-46) can (i) opt to appear for the written test, or (ii) apply on the basis of valid GATE Score, or (iii) may opt to appear for written test and also apply for selection on the basis of valid GATE Score .

Selection Interviews of short-listed candidates are conducted in BARC Training Schools at any of their location. Outstation applicants are paid to and fro second-class sleeper train fare by shortest route or actual fare whichever is less. Probable period of selection interviews is during June-July, 2010. List of short-listed candidates and Interview schedule will be declared on our website from May 25, 2010 onwards. Interview call letters will also be posted to those short-listed for interview.

Final Selection is solely on the basis of performance in interview subject to medical fitness.

This selection process would also be used for selecting candidates for research based academic programmes of HBNI and for Diploma in Radiological Physics programme of HBNI. Eligibility criteria and associated details will be available in the advertisements of respective programmes to be released separately.

Eligibility Criteria

Valid GATE score means score of GATE-2009/ GATE-2010

A. Qualifying Degrees and Other Academic Requirements for OCES/DGFS
(a) For Engineering Disciplines (codes 21-29): BE/BTech/BSc (Engineering) with a minimum of 60%* aggregate marks in any of the engineering disciplines mentioned in Table-1 and valid GATE Score in the same engineering discipline as the qualifying degree discipline. Those having qualifying degree in branches like Aerospace, Automobile, Industrial Production, Reliability, Ceramics, Architecture, Geology, Mining, Bio-Medical Electronics/ Instruments, Communication, Information Technology, Master of Computer applications, Dyes & Dye Intermediates, Electrochemical, Energy Systems, Oils & Fats, Paints & Varnishes, Petrochemicals, Plastics, Paper, Sugar Technology, Textiles, etc, are not eligible.

(b) For Physics Discipline (code 41): MSc in Physics/ Applied Physics/ Electronics or BE/ BTech in Engineering Physics with minimum of 60%* aggregate marks. MSc applicants should have Physics and Mathematics up to BSc or at subsidiary and/or ancillary level in case of five year integrated MSc, with minimum of 60%* aggregate marks in MSc as well as in BSc. Applicants opting to be considered on the basis of GATE Score should have valid GATE Score in Physics. For applicants having BE (Engineering Physics) or MSc (Electronics) as qualifying degree, valid GATE Score in Engineering Science is also acceptable.

(c) For Chemistry Discipline (code 42): MSc in Chemistry with Physics up to BSc or at subsidiary and/or ancillary level in case of five year integrated MSc and Mathematics up to Std. XII, with minimum of 60%* aggregate marks in MSc as well as in BSc. Applicants opting to be considered on the basis of GATE Score should have valid GATE Score in Chemistry.

(d) For Biosciences Discipline (code 43): MSc in Agriculture,
Biochemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology,Biotechnology, Genetics, Botany, Zoology, Plant Science, Plant Breeding, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Food Technology, Animal Science, Life Sciences and Biosciences; or BE/BTech/BSc (Tech) only in Food Technology with minimum of 60%* aggregate marks .
MSc applicants should have Physics or Chemistry or Biochemistry or Agriculture Chemistry up to BSc or at subsidiary and/or ancillary level in case of five year integrated MSc with minimum of 60%* aggregate marks in MSc as well as in BSc. Applicants opting to be considered on the basis of GATE Score should have valid GATE Score in Life Sciences. Those having MSc with specialization in subjects like Fisheries, Horticulture, Forestry, Agronomy, Animal Husbandry, Marine Biology and HomeScience etc and BE/BTech/MTech in Biotechnology/Genetic Engineering are not eligible .

(d) For Radiological Safety Engineering (RSE, code 44): MSc in Physics or Chemistry with Physics and Chemistry up to BSc or at subsidiary and/or ancillary level in case of integrated MSc, and Mathematics up to Std. XII, with minimum of 60%* aggregate marks in MSc as well as in BSc. Those having MSc in Environmental Science are not eligible.

(e) For Geology Discipline (Code 45): MSc in Geology/ Applied Geology with Mathematics upto BSc. or at subsidiary and/or ancillary level in case of five year integrated MSc , with minimum of 60%* aggregate marks in MSc as well as in BSc. Applicants opting to be considered on the basis of GATE Score should have valid GATE Score in Geology / Geophysics.

(g) For Geophysics Discipline (Code 46): MSc in Geophysics/ Applied Geophysics with Mathematics up to BSc or at subsidiary and/or ancillary level in case of five year integrated MSc , with minimum of 60%* aggregate marks in MSc as well as in BSc. Applicants opting to be considered on the basis of GATE Score should have valid GATE Score in Geology / Geophysics.

(h) Those having MSc (by research) or PhD are not eligible.

• A minimum of 60% marks means that 60% minimum marks in the qualifying degree/ P.G. degree as per the ordinance of the respective university in the respective disciplines mentioned in Table- 1.

B. Admission to DGFS: Candidates having qualifying degree in disciplines 21-29 or 41 and who meet the corresponding eligibility criteria listed above are eligible to apply for DGFS provided they secure admission for MTech starting in the academic year 2010 in select institutes in specializations listed in Table-3. Confirmation of MTech admission should be communicated by July 20, 2010, failing which offer of DGFS will be withdrawn retaining their options for OCES schemes if any .

C. Age Limit ( Age as on September 1, 2010 ) a) General Category - 26 years , b) OBC-29 years , c) SC/ST–31 years , d) Dependents of those who died in the riots of 1984 (Dep1984) -31 years e) Persons domiciled in Kashmir division of Jammu and Kashmir State from 01/01/1980 to 31/12/1989 (DomKashmir) – 31 years.
Physically Challenged persons are eligible for age relaxation of maximum up to 10 years.

D. Nationality: Applicant should be an Indian citizen.

E. Applicant working in Central/ State Government Units/ PSUs/ Aided Institutes: Apply through proper channel

F. Application Fee: A non-refundable application-processing fee of Rs. 100/- (Rs. one hundred) for an online application and Rs.200/- (Rs. two hundred) for a postal application is chargeable from the applicants in General and OBC categories. The application fee is to be paid by crossed Demand Draft (DD) drawn in favour of Accounts Officer, BARC, and payable at Mumbai.

SC/ST applicants and Dependents of Defense Personnel Killed in Action (DODPKIA) are exempted from payment of application fee. Women candidates and physically challenged candidates are exempted from payment of application fee.

Those, whose final results for qualifying degree are awaited and/or are appearing for GATE in 2010, but are otherwise eligible, can also apply. If selected, the mark-sheet of final result should be submitted by November 30, 2010 in case of OCES and as per the requirement of the concerned institute in case of DGFS.
The application fee is to be paid by crossed Demand Draft (DD) drawn in favour of Accounts Officer, BARC, and payable at Mumbai. The applicant should write his/her name and address at the back of the DD and retain the bank receipt and photocopy of the DD. Do not staple DD.

To Apply
There are two modes of application: (1) Online, and (2) By Post.

(1) Online Application: Keep the DD in hand for the amount of the Application Fee. Log on to the website www.hrdbarc.gov.in, and follow the instruction there for filling and submitting the Net-form .

(2) Application by Post can be made by taking two photocopies on an A4 size (~8.3"x11.7") paper of the accompanying format as Application Form. No separate application form is issued. Fill in all the relevant information, paste photographs on both the copies and mail both copies along with one set of enclosures and DD towards the application fee to the address given in the application form. One copy shall be returned to the applicant indicating the application number. That copy should be brought along at the time of appearing for Written Test and/ or Interview .
The application fee is to be paid by crossed Demand Draft (DD) drawn in favour of Accounts Officer, BARC, and payable at Mumbai. The applicant should write his/her name and address at the back of the DD and retain the bank receipt and photocopy of the DD. Do not staple DD.

Cultural Talent Search Scholarship Scheme 2010

Centre for Cultural Resources and Training India

The Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT) provides 500 new scholarships each year, out of which minimum 5 seats each are reserved for all the states and at least 3 each for all the Union Territories. Minimum 10 scholarships are reserved for the state of Jammu and Kashmir also. While awarding scholarships preferences are given to children of families practicing traditional art forms. Special emphasis is given to rare arts and crafts which are becoming extinct..

The scholarship awarded under the Scheme is initially for two years and is renewable after every two years till the completion of the first University degree stage of education or up to the age of 20 years whichever is earlier subject to the awardees maintaining good progress.

The Cultural Talent Search Scholarship Scheme is implemented at the national level. There are hundreds of art forms practised in our country. Since the number of scholarships available are limited, only exceptionally talented and outstanding students need to apply.

Children whose date of birth is in between 01.07.1996 and 30.06.2000 (both days inclusive) are eligible to apply for the award of scholarships for the year 2010-11.
Minimum three years' training in the field of art form in which scholarship is being applied, either with a guru or in an institution is essential.

Students applying for Performing Arts are required to submit a certificate from the Guru/Instructor imparting training, clearly mentioning the details regarding the training received by them alongwith the Bio-data of the Guru/Instructor.
Students applying for Painting must attach three specimens of their latest work (either original or photograph) and those in Crafts, Sculpture etc. should attach three photographs of latest work, duly attested by their Guru/Instructor alongwith the Bio-data of the Guru/Instructor.

Gurus/Parents are requested to ensure that their wards possess certain level of standard in the field while applying. Not more than four (04) students of a Guru/Institution will be considered for award of scholarship at a time keeping in view the large number of applications received and limited number of scholarships available in each field. Only those applicants, whose names are recommended by Central Selection Committee, will be informed about the date, timings and venue of the interview/test by post only, which may be held during the months of May-July 2010 at Regional Level.

The candidate should apply only in one subject in which he/she is confident because only one scholarship could be availed under the scheme. All applications of those, who apply for more than one subject, would be rejected straight away.
Students in folk, traditional and indigenous art forms should mention in Column No. 6 of the application form, the name of the art form and also the State/UT where it is practised. Students in traditional art forms, crafts, traditions facing extinction and belonging to families of practising traditional performing arts are given preference. They have to enclose a brief write-up to justify their claim for consideration in this category, otherwise their candidature will be considered in general category.

Application forms issued in previous years, incomplete applications and those without relevant information and documents/specimens regarding training will not be considered. Those who are already receiving the scholarship from CCRT or any other Institution should not apply again either for new scholarship or for extension. A scholarship holder shall not receive any other cultural scholarship/stipend in case he/ she is selected for CTSS Scheme, without the prior approval of the CCRT.

Selection Process

The selection procedure for admission consists of two steps :

Written Test-:
Applicants for the full-time programme are required to appear for the Common Admission Test (CAT-2009) conducted by the IIMs.

Group Discussion and Personal Interview
Candidates short-listed on the basis of their performance in the written test will be called for group discussion and personal interview. The group discussion/personal interview will be held at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Kolkata, and New Delhi. The final selection to the programme would be based on the candidate’s performance in the written test, group discussion, personal interview and work experience.

The following weightage will be given for each component of the selection criteria :
Written Test : 70%
Personal Interview : 20%
Group Discussion : 10%

An additional score upto 10 points for work experience will also be given for full-time work experience at managerial level in a professional organization.

The United World Colleges Committee (India) promotes the United World Colleges in India and selects students to attend the United World Colleges worldwide.

Applications are invited for September 2010 entry to the United World Colleges situated in UK, Singapore, Canada, Venezuela, USA, Italy,Hong Kong, Swaziland, Norway, India and Costa Rica. Some full and part scholarships are available on the basis of merit at Mahindra UWC India, and only limited scholarships are available at some overseas UWCs.

MANAGE invite applications for admission in its 15th batch of Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Agri-Business Management), a two-year full time programme. ELIGIBILITY-: The minimum qualification for admission into the Diploma is a FOUR YEAR bachelors degree at least with second division or its equivalent OGPA in Agriculture or allied subjects or Veterinary Science or Dairy Technology or Food Technology from any Agricultural University or Institution recognized by the ICAR / UGC.

applications are invited for the KEAM 2010 Entrance Examinations for admission to the following Degree Courses in various Professional Colleges in the Kerala State for 2010-11.

2. Eligibility for Admission:

(A) Nativity:
Applicant should be an Indian citizen. Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)/Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) Card Holders will be treated on par with Indian citizens for the limited purpose of admission.

Both Keralites and Non-Keralites are eligible to apply for the Entrance Examination.
Applicants of Kerala origin will be categorized as 'Keralites'. Others will be categorized as 'Non-Keralites'.

A candidate will be considered as a 'Keralite', for the limited purpose of eligibility for admission, if
(a) he/she or his/her father/mother was born in Kerala OR
(b) he/she has been a resident of Kerala for a period of 5 years within a period of 12 years OR
(c) he/shehas undergone his/her school studies from Standards VIII to XII in educational institution(s) in Kerala. The candidate should obtain relevant certificates in the application form a prescribed in the Prospectus to avail such benefit.

Candidates who are children of All India Service (AIS) officers allotted to Kerala cadre, claiming Keralite Status, should produce a certificate from the competent authority showing that the parent of the candidate is an AIS officer allotted to Kerala cadre. Non-Keralites are classified as 'Non-Keralite Category-I' and 'Non-Keralite Category-II'.

'Non-Keralite Category-I' candidates are those who have undergone the qualifying course in Kerala, and who are the sons/daughters of Employees of the Government of India, or, employees who are serving in connection with the affairs of the Government of Kerala, subject to the condition that, all categories of the employees mentioned above should have served in Kerala for a minimum period of 2 years, or, have served in connection with the affairs of the Government of Kerala for a minimum period of 2 years. Such candidates will be eligible for admission to the Government seats under 'State Merit' only, for all the courses, which are filled on the basis of the rank in the Entrance Examination (s) or the rank list prepared by giving equal weightage to the marks in NATA and qualifying examination, as applicable.

Candidates who do not belong to the 'Keralite' or 'Non-Keralite Category-I' will be treated as 'Non-Keralite Category-II'. They are eligible for admission ONLY to the 'State Merit' seats in the Private Self-financing Engineering Colleges in the State and in the Management Quota seats in Self-financing Engineering institutions sponsored by Government. Non-Keralite candidates will not be considered for admission against reserved seats.

(B) Academic Qualification :
(i) Medical/Agriculture/Veterinary Courses : Candidates should have passed the Higher
Secondary Examination or examination recognized as equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Biology, and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology put together. Those who wish to take admission to MBBS/BDS courses should acquire 50% marks in the Medical Entrance Examination (As per the guidelines issued by Medical Council of India).

Candidates seeking admission to BVSc. & AH course under the Kerala Agricultural University, in addition to the qualification prescribed above, should have passed the qualifying examination with 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English put together (as per the regulation of Veterinary Council of India).

(ii) Eligibility of BSc. Degree holders: Those who apply based on their BSc. Degree, for admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BSMS Courses, should have obtained their BSc.
Degree with one of the subjects, Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, Bio-Chemistry as Main, and any one or two of these subjects as subsidiaries, with 50% marks for Main and Subsidiaries taken together, provided they have passed the Higher Secondary or equivalent examination, with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects.

(iii) Engineering Courses: Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala or examinations recognized as equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Mathematics separately, and 50% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry/Bio-technology/ Computer Science/Biology put together are eligible for admission. Candidates having Three year Diploma in Engineering awarded by the Board of Technical Examinations, Kerala or equivalent, having 50% marks in the final Diploma examination, are also eligible for admission. However, these Diploma holders are not eligible for admission to the Engineering courses offered by Kerala Agricultural University.


(iv) Architecture Course : Candidates who have passed 10+2 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination or examinations recognized as equivalent thereto, with Mathematics as a subject of examination, with 50% marks in aggregate / Candidates who have passed 10+3 Diploma (any stream) recognised by Central/State Governments with 50% aggregate marks / Candidates with International Baccalaureate Diploma, after 10 years of schooling, with not less than 50% marks in aggregate and with Mathematics as compulsory subject of examination are eligible to apply. In addition, candidates will have to score 40% marks (80 marks out of 200) in the NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture). Reserved category (SC/ST/SEBC) candidates should also have obtained 40% marks in NATA, as per guidelines of Council of Architecture. (For details, visit www.nata.in).


(C) Relaxation in marks in the Qualifying Examination : For all courses, a relaxation of 5% marks in the qualifying examination will be allowed to those candidates who belong to the communities listed under the Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC) and whose annual family income is up to Rs. 4.5 lakhs (Rupees Four Lakhs and Fifty Thousand only).
SC/ST candidates need only a pass in the qualifying examination. But candidates belonging to SEBC categories, seeking admission to MBBS/BDS courses, need 45% marks in Biology and 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology put together, in the qualifying examination and 40% marks in Medical Entrance Examination. Candidates belonging to SC/ST categories need 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology put together in the qualifying examination and 40% marks in the Entrance Examination for seeking admission to MBBS/BDS Courses.
Candidates with Locomotory Disability between 40% and 70% need only 45% marks for
Biology and 45% marks for Biology, Physics and Chemistry taken together as academic
eligibility for MBBS course. They need only 45% marks in the Entrance Examination to qualify for MBBS course.

(D) Candidates who have appeared/are appearing for Qualifying Examinations: Candidates who have not passed the qualifying examination but have appeared/are appearing for the Higher Secondary or equivalent examination or the three-year Engineering Diploma Examination of this academic year, will also be permitted to take the Entrance Examination(s) provisionally. But, such candidates should prove their academic eligibility on the date of admission. Candidates applying for Medical courses based on BSc. Degree, should have passed the Degree Examination at the time of submission of application.

(E) Age : The candidate should complete 17 years of age as on 31st December, 2010.

3. Schedule for the Entrance Examinations :
The Entrance Examinations will be held at all the District Centres in Kerala, New Delhi and Dubai (UAE), on the dates mentioned below as per Indian Standard Time (IST).
Engineering Entrance Examination (For Engineering courses except Architecture)
19.04.2010 Monday 10.00 A.M. to 12.30 P.M. Paper-I : Physics & Chemistry.
20.04.2010 Tuesday 10.00 A.M. to 12.30 P.M. Paper-II: Mathematics.

Medical Entrance Examination (For Medical, Agriculture and Veterinary Courses)
21.04.2010 Wednesday 10.00 A.M. to 12.30 P.M. Paper-I : Chemistry & Physics.
22.04.2010 Thursday 10.00 A.M. to 12.30 P.M. Paper-II: Biology.

Note: Candidates seeking admission to B.Arch. course should also submit the Application form to the CEE. There is no State level Entrance Examination for this purpose. However such candidates should write the National Aptitude Test for Architecture and should forward the NATA score and mark list of the qualifying examination to the CEE on or before 05.06.2010.

4. Application Forms :
(a) ONLY ONE APPLICATION NEED BE SUBMITTED FOR THE ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS FOR
ADMISSION TO ONE OR MORE OF MEDICAL, AGRICULTURE, VETERINARY, ENGINEERING AND ARCHITECTURE COURSES.

(b) SC/ST candidates should apply in Sky Blue application forms and all other candidates should apply in the General application form (White). Candidates under 'Other Eligible Communities' (OEC) should apply in the General application form. Candidates who are children of Inter-Caste Married Couple, of which one is SC/ST, should apply in the form meant for SC/ST.

(c) Application Fee : General candidates - Rs.700/-
SC/ST candidates - Rs.350/-

Note:- Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates whose annual family income is below Rs.40,000/-can have Application Form free of cost from the District Offices of the Scheduled Tribes Development Department on production of Community Certificate and Income Certificate.

(d) Application Distribution Centres : The Application form and Prospectus will be distributed from 07.12.2009 to 06.01.2010 through selected branches of Post Offices in Kerala and outside the State. The amount towards the fee of application is to be remitted in cash at the Post Offices. The list of Post Offices, selected as sales centres, is appended separately. Application Forms will not be available by post or sold from the office of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations.

(e) Application form : All candidates will receive the application form, OMR Data Sheet, an envelope bearing the address of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations and the Prospectus. Candidates should ensure that the Application number printed in the Application Form, OMR Data Sheet and on the cover are the same.

(f) Facility for applying online : Candidates who do not claim any reservation benefit and those belonging to Non-Keralite category can apply 'Online' through the website 'www.cee-kerala.org'. On successful submission of the data online, an application number will be generated. The candidates should take a print out of this application. The application fee Rs.700/- can be remitted in any branch of State Bank of Travancore (SBT) using the chalan contained in the print out of the application. Print out of application complete in all respects along with original chalan certified by the Bank authorities and other requisite certificates should be forwarded to the Office of the CEE before the last date specified for submission of application forms. Candidates who do not have access to State Bank of Travancore (SBT) can attach a Demand Draft for Rs.700/- drawn on a Nationalized Bank in favour of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations payable at Thiruvananthapuram, as application fee along with the application form (Application Number and Name should be written on the back of the Demand Draft). Online application process will be completed only on receipt of the print out of the application along with all requisite certificates, in the office of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations. (g) Candidates opting DUBAI (UAE) as the Centre for Entrance Examination : Candidates, who choose 'DUBAI' as their centre for the Entrance Examinations, should submit along with their filled in application form, a Demand Draft for Rs.8,500/- (Rupees Eight Thousand Five Hundred only), drawn on a Nationalized Bank in favour of the 'Commissioner for Entrance Examinations' payable at Thiruvananthapuram. Those applying online should enclose Demand Drafts for Rs.700/- as Application fee and Rs.8,500/- as centre fee. The candidates opting Dubai centre should note that the examinations are conducted as per Indian Standard Time (IST).
(g)
5. Last date and time for receipt of filled in Application Forms : The filled in Application Form along with the OMR DATA SHEET and other relevant documents, to be submitted with the Application Form, are to be sent in the printed envelope bearing the address of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations supplied along with the application form, so as to reach him before 5 p.m. on 06.01.2010 (Wednesday), by Hand Delivery/Registered Post/Speed Post. Completed Applications will be received in the Office of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations on holidays also.

6. Belated Applications : Belated applications will be rejected. Candidates are therefore advised to apply well in advance. The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations will not be responsible for any postal delay.


7. Candidates will not be allowed to include any information in the application form or to submit any Certificates/Documents claiming reservation or any other benefits, after the submission of the application, under any circumstances. Requests in this regard will not be entertained by the Office of the Commissioner.

8. Certificates that are to be obtained in the body of the Application should be obtained in the body of the Application form itself.


9. Incomplete or defective applications will be summarily REJECTED and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard.

10. The Entrance Examinations and the subsequent allotments will be based on the various provisions laid down in the Prospectus approved by the Government. Prospectus for the KEAM Entrance Examinations 2010 is available in the website of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations at "www.cee-kerala.org". Candidates are requested to go through the various provisions in the Prospectus before submitting their applications.
