PGDC COMMON ENTRANCE TEST (CET) 2010 for admission to Post Graduate Diploma Course in Thermal Power Plant Engineering (2010-11) at National Power Training Institute (NPTI)

A one year course consisting of 2 semesters covering formal coaching and on-job training. This course is conducted at Regional Institutes of NPTI located at Nagpur(Maharashtra), Neyveli(Tamilnadu), Badarpur (New Delhi), Durgapur(West Bengal), Nangal (Punjab) and Guwahati (Assam) whereas the Simulator training forming an integral part of the course shall be conducted at Badarpur / Faridabad / Nagpur Institutes.

Eligibility-:

* The candidates who have obtained B.E./B.Sc. (Engg.) A.M.I.E. or equivalent degree in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Control & Instrumentation/ Power Engineering are eligible to apply for admission to this Post Graduate diploma Course. Those appearing in their final year examination may also apply. However, they must submit their result at the time of counseling.

* Graduate Engineers sponsored by State Electricity Boards/Power Utilities and Private Companies with at least one year post qualification experience as on 1.8.2010 and minimum 60% marks in BE/ B.Tech./equivalent degree.


Selection Criteria-:

The Admission to this P.G. Diploma will be done by NPTI Nagpur on the basis of Merit based on COMMON ENTRANCE TEST (CET) followed by counseling at NPTI Nagpur. CET will be held on 20.06.2010 at 8 centres i.e. Delhi, Nagpur, Bangalore, Durgapur, Faridabad, Guwahati, Nangal and Neyveli. A candidate who is allotted a seat during counseling will be required to pay the 1ST installment of fee (Rs. 30,000/- for non sponsored candidate and Rs. 40,000/- for sponsored candidate) immediately without which the admission will not be confirmed. The payment of fees is only through Demand Draft in favour of "NPTI Nagpur". No other mode of payment is acceptable.

The registration fee is Rs.800/- to be paid in the form of demand draft drawn in favour of NPTI Nagpur payable at Nagpur and the details of the demand draft to be given while filling online application. American Alumni Association-AAA Scholars Abroad grants of Rs one lakh are awarded to students wishing to pursue their postgraduation in the US. The grant supports students of particular excellence in their chosen field, which in the past have ranged from aeronautical engineering to architecture, health, information management and environmental science.

Who can apply-:

Talented but economically disadvantaged students who have completed their undergraduation and have received admission in the US university for their postgraduation. Applicants must have aspirations to return to India. Naval Maritime Academy Merchant Navy Courses 2010

Naval Maritime Academy, Mumbai Pre-Sea Training for Merchant Navy Deck Officer Cadets on board IMS Vikrant. The training for the 5th batch of 40 cadets will commence w.e.f. 01 Aug 2010. 20 seats are reserved for wards of serving / retired defence personnel. This is the only pre-sea training in India being conducted on a ship.

Training-:
The training consists of one year pre-sea training at NAMAC (IMS Vikrant) followed by 1½ years apprentice-ship on merchant ships and 06 months 2nd Mate Competency course at any DG approved training institute, leading to B.Sc. Nautical Science from Indian Maritime University and Certificate of Competency as Second Mate Foreign Going (FG) from the Director General of Shipping. It is clarified that NAMAC takes responsibility only for 01 year Pre Sea Training, after which the candidate needs to be selected by various shipping companies for 18 months Sea time based on his own merit. However, NAMAC will facilitate campus recruitment of its candidates. NAMAC has already started inviting reputed shipping companies for sponsorship of NAMAC candidates.

Eligibility -:
* 10+2 pass certificate or equivalent examination with not less than 60% in PCM and 55% in English. Age less than 20 years on 01 Aug 2010.
Or,
B.Sc. in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry or Electronics with Physics as an individual subject in one of the year, with an average of not less than 55% of marks in the final year. Age less than 22 yrs as on 01 Aug 2010.
Or,
B.E. / B Tech Degree from I.I.T or from a college recognized by AICTE. The candidates should have minimum 50% marks in English language at 10th / 12th standard or in the Degree course conducted by recognized Board or any University. Age less than 24 yrs on 01 Aug 2010.

* Medical & psychological fitness as per IMU rules / DG Shipping standards for sea service.

* Eye sight minimum 6/6 with normal colour & night vision tested from a reputed hospital.

Two Years “Advance Diploma in Radiotherapy Technology” recognized by Govt. of Maharashtra will be conducted at this Hospital commencing from 01.07.2010 Academic year 2010. This is a comprehensive course with full-time schedule of lectures, demonstrations, practical and clinical experience in the delivery of Radiation therapy. Regional Center of Biotechnology-RCB is a newly established institution of education ,training & research in the National Capital Region-NCR of Delhi by Dept of Biotechnology, Govt of India under an agreement with UNESCO. RCB is designed to be a Centre of excellence in biotechnology with intimate contributions from the countries of the region and academic institutions from the rest of the world and provides a meeting place where innovation, enterprise and development will germinate.

Applications are invited for the RCB-YI awards from young scientists below the age of 35 years, to work in the areas related (but not limited) to structural, systems and synthetic biology, tissue engineering, analysis of complex diseases for identification of intervention points and development of knowledge-based drug discovery strategies, under the mentorship of senior faculty of RCB. Those likely to complete their Ph.D programme in the next 3 months are also eligible to apply.

The Award shall be initially for a duration of three years. The award carries a consolidated stipend of Rs.40,000/- per month. The awardee shall not be entitled to draw any other fellowship or salary.

Institute of Physics, Bhubaneswar is an autonomous research institution funded by the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India. The research activity in the Institute centers around the areas of theoretical and experimental condensed matter physics, nuclear physics, and high energy physics.
One of the important objectives of the Institute has been to train and guide young scholars for research in physics. For this, the Institute has regular one year Pre-doctoral (post M.Sc.) course work and Doctoral research program for those who successfully complete the Pre-Doctoral course. The Institute campus has hostels for the Pre-doctoral and the Doctoral scholars.
The Institute of Physics invites application for the Pre-doctoral Program from Indian nationals having the following qualifications:
M.Sc. Physics with minimum 55% marks (in aggregate).
(A) GATE qualifiers with minimum score of 95 percentile and having current validity OR CSIR / UGC- NET qualifiers (for research fellowship) within last one year.
Candidates who have qualified JEST-2010 with a minimum score of 95 Percentile need not send any application. They will be contacted directly by the Institute. If a candidate has scored less than 95 percentile in JEST-2010 but satisfies any of the criteria for GATE/NET as above, he/she should also send the application.
Candidates appearing for the final semester/year of M.Sc., who have already qualified in GATE or CSIR/UGC-NET can also apply. Satisfying the eligibility criteria does not entitle the candidate to be shortlisted. Shortlisting is based on their academic performance including but not limited to performance in the national qualifying tests. The shortlisted candidates will be called for a test/interview.

Scholarship: JRFs of CSIR/UGC/ICMR/DBT etc. will draw fellowship and contingency according to the granting Institutions. The other qualified candidates will draw scholarship of Rs.12000/- p.m. from IISER-TVM.

Students registered for the Ph.D. Programme at IISER-TVM are required to take a minimum of four courses and clear the Comprehensive Examination to be eligible to continue with the research programme.

Items to be enclosed with the application: Duly filled application form, Demand Draft for Rs.200/-(Rs.100/- for SC/ST candidates) drawn in favor of the Registrar, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Thiruvananthapuram, Attested copies of mark-sheets and certificates of all examinations, two letters of Recommendation in sealed envelope and a statement of purpose not exceeding 150 words.
