LSEF-UMass Scholarship 2021

The LSEF-UMass Scholarship is for driven, passionate and meritorious students who will not only be the best representatives from India but also set their benchmark at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. The scholarship was launched in 2019 and is awarded to select Indian students for postgraduate programs from UMass Amherst.

Online applications are invited by Lakshmipat Singhania Education Foundation’s (LSEF) and University of Massachusetts-Amherst (UMass) for LSEF-UMass Scholarship 2021. Candidates shortlisted for this scholarship will undertake two years of postgraduate studies, with the first year at the host institution in India- JK Lakshmipat University, Jaipur and the second year at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, leading to dual degrees. 

The students can apply for one of three programmes – MS in Data Analytics and Computational Social Science, MS in Resource Economics, and Master of Public Policy. These programs are to provide significant global impact opportunities in combating challenges and meeting the dire needs of the changing world. The scholarship is amongst the few in India, which offers a grant and not a loan. Scholarships up to 50% of academic tuition worth Rs 20,00,000 each are awarded to chosen candidates.

Eligibility :
The applicants need to be Indian citizens who have completed or will complete before July 2021, a minimum of three years of undergraduate degree in any discipline from an accredited institution or University in India are eligible to apply. The applicant should also need to have studied Mathematics as a subject up to a minimum of class XII or equivalent and also have secured a minimum of 75% marks in their Undergraduate degree, class X and XII.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an aptitude assessment and personal interview with the selection committee comprising of LSEF and UMass-Amherst representatives. The selections will be made on a rolling basis in each round and there are only a limited number of scholarships. Therefore, early applications are encouraged.

BITS Pilani Launched MBA Campus in Mumbai

BITS Pilani (Birla Institute of Technology & Science) has now launched a 'School of Management'.

With an investment of over Rs 1,500 crore spread over 10 years and a permanent campus to come up by 2024, the BITS School of Management (SoM) will offer "futuristic curriculum" in its two-year full-time residential MBA degree program.

With the 60-acre-wide permanent campus being set up in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), the BITS School of  Management will start academic sessions in July 2021 with an initial batch of 120 students from a temporary facility in Powai, Mumbai.

Faculty of BITSoM will include globally renowned professors from top B-Schools such as NYU Stern School of Business, Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Singapore Management University and Kellogg School of Management, in addition to leading industry practitioners, BITS Pilani said.

UQIDAR Joint PhD Programmes 2021

UQ-IITD Academy of Research (UQIDAR) has announced Admission to Joint PhD programmes for June-July 2021 session. Australia’s University of Queensland (UQ), a top 50 global university, and IIT Delhi, an Institution of Eminence, had come together and established the UQ-IITD Academy of Research (UQIDAR) to run a joint PhD programme to support scholars across diverse discipline areas to deliver global impact.

In India, PhD Admission takes place in two sessions: June-July semester and December-January semester.  Following PhD Admission Open in UQIDAR for July 2021 session, it appears that other universities will now commence their PhD Admission process soon.

Eligible candidates should submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) by 26 February 2021. If the EOI is of interest, the candidate will be invited to apply on the online applications portal between 1-30 March, 2021.

There are two PhD pathways to consider: i-students and q-students.

Indian nationals and international applicants (with citizenship other than Australia), will be considered for admission as i-students. i-students will spend their first year of study at IITD before completing one year (or more) at UQ. They would then complete the remainder of their studies at IIT Delhi.

Australian domestic students will be considered for admission as q-students. q-students will spend their first year of study at UQ before completing one year (or more) at IIT Delhi.

The National Law University (NLU) Delhi has invited applications for the All India Law Entrance Test or AILET 2021 for admission to five year BA LLB, LLM, and PhD programmes. The application process is open and will conclude on May 20. The exam is scheduled to be held on June 20 in an offline mode. 

National Law University AILET 2021 application form released on January 23, 2021, on the official website. The last date to submit the application form is May 20 (11.55 pm). The AILET 2021 exam will be conducted on June 20.

National Law University AILET 2021 application forms have been made available to students who are planning to apply for admission to five-year integrated BA LLB, LLM and PhD programmes. This year, the BA LLB programme has 110 seats and the LLM programme has 70 seats. Each programme will have additional 10 seats for NRI.

Applications are accepted online only at nationallawuniversitydelhi.in; nludelhi.ac.in. The admit card for the exam will be released on June 5. National Law University Delhi has not authorised any agent/ agency for admission, says the official notice, and candidates need to make payment at the official websites only. AICTE Pragati & Saksham Scholarship 2021

The All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) has extended the last date for its scholarship initiatives Pragati, scheme for girls, and Saksham, scheme for specially-abled students. The last date to apply for the AICTE scholarship schemes is now 31 January 2021. AICTE is offering financial assistance of Rs 50,000 per year for those who get selected for these schemes.

AICTE Scholarship Schemes:

AICTE Pragati Scholarship Scheme for Girls (Degree and Diploma): This initiative is for female students who are in the first year of their technical degree or diploma, or the second year of degree or diploma level course through lateral entry in any of the AICTE approved institutions of the respective year, and nearly 5000 scholarships are disbursed under the scheme every year. Furthermore, all eligible girls who submit online scholarship form, from the following 13 union territories and North Eastern States will be given a scholarship by AICTE: Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Lakshadweep, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.

Saksham Scholarship Scheme for specially-abled Students (Degree and Diploma): This initiative is aimed at providing encouragement and support to specially-abled children to pursue technical education. Candidates who are in the first year of their technical degree or diploma or second year of degree or diploma level course through lateral entry in any of the AICTE approved institutions of the respective year can apply for the scheme. All eligible specially-abled students in any of the AICTE approved institutions will receive the scholarship.

Important Guidelines of AICTE Scholarship

  • Applicants’ family income should be less than Rs 8 lakhs per annum.
  • For the Saksham Scholarship Scheme for specially-abled students, applicants having disability of not less than 40% are eligible.
  • Candidates fulfilling the eligibility conditions are required to apply online on National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
  • The host institution where the applicant is studying is required to verify the online application.
  • The Department of Technical Education (DTE) of the respective State or UT will verify these applications as second level of scrutiny.
  • The scholarship will be renewed for the next year of study after the beneficiary submits their application for renewal through the National Scholarship Portal by submitting a passing certificate or marksheet along with letter from the Head of the Institution on the online portal.
  • The gap period between the year of passing the qualifying examination and the session of admission in degree course should not be more than two years.

Maharashtra School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad has recently announced that the board exams 2021 for students of classes 10 and 12 will be conducted in the months of April and May in the state in the written mode.

As per the statement issued by the education minister, the state board's Class 12 will be held from April 23 to May 29, and Class 10 from April 29 to May 31. The exams are usually held in February and March, which have to be rescheduled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The education minister further said, “The written exams for Class 12 will be held between April 23 and May 29, and for Class 10 between April 29 and May 31. We are trying to declare the results of Classes 12 and 10 by July-end and August-end, respectively.”

In an effort to help the students appearing for the board exams this year, the department of education in Maharashtra has also decided to reduce the syllabus of both classes by 25 percent this year.

Varsha Gaikwad also talked about the resumption of offline classes in Maharashtra, stating that around 38% of students were attending classes in schools, as of January 18.

CyberPeace Foundation Cybersecurity Programme

CyberPeace Foundation a think tank and grassroots NGO of cyber security and policy experts, launched a joint initiative training programme on cyber peace and cybersecurity with the Ministry of Education and AICTE in collaboration with industry, academia, government and civil societies.

The aim of the programme is to address the issues that have trailed in the wake of technological advancement such as cybercrimes, harassment, abuse and radicalization and to build a secure ecosystem of cybersecurity communities where the internet will become a strength instead of a liability or weakness for the youth of the country.

Other objectives include researching the problems faced online and developing innovative solutions to these problems in addition to enabling the youth to expand their knowledge and skills on the internet.

As a part of the programme, 50 CyberPeace Clubs will engage 5 lakhs students and educators in CyberPeace and cybersecurity activities such as Hackathons, Global CyberPeace Challenge and eRaksha competitions.

Student development initiatives such as Volunteer Induction workshops and awareness workshops involving participants in techno-social research, CyberPeace talks in collaboration with industry, academia and civil societies, online communities for engaging interactions and the support of the youth and the establishment of a network of 25,000 CyberPeace Corps volunteers will all constitute essential segments of the programme.

Some of the topics that will be covered are -- digital citizenship, digital rights and responsibilities, cyber ethics and digital etiquette, cyber health and wellness, misinformation, cyber laws and reporting and new technologies such as block chain, IoT Security and AI.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) has begun the online registration process for admission to various postgraduate management (MBA) courses for the academic session 2021-22.

IITs will be considering the score of the Common Admission Test (CAT 2021) for shortlisting the candidates for their 2 years full-time MBA programme.

Though the IITs admit the candidates on the basis of the CAT score, each of them works independently and have their own selection process comprising the group discussion (GD) and the personal interview (PI). Though the selection process for IIT MBA admission is on similar lines as that of the IIMs, however, the IITs function independently in this regard.

The Xavier School of Management (XLRI) is all set to release the XAT 2021 result soon. Candidates who have appeared for the XAT exam 2021 can check their result from the official website of XAT -- xatonline.in.

The XAT Exam 2021 was conducted on January 3, 2021. The answer key for the exam has already been released in PDF form on January 8, 2021. 

Xavier Aptitude Test exam is held to provide admissions to students for the postgraduate (PG) management programmes offered by the XLRI. The XAT exam is held through online mode every year.

The XAT score will be used by more than 160 participating institutes for admission to PG programmes in Management.

Answer key :

Candidates will have to log in to the official website with their XAT IDs and passwords to check the XAT Exam 2021 answer key.

The exam conducting body has also allowed the candidates to raise concerns against the XAT 2021 answer keys.

The XAT 2021 result will be declared after considering the candidates’ responses against the XAT answer key. The application window for the XAT 2021 answer key objection closed on January 11.

Applications for Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) 2021 conducted by Anna University, Chennai on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu from candidates who seek admission to M.B.A., M.C.A. and M.E. / M.Tech. / M.Arch. / M.Plan. Degree Programmes for the academic year 2021-2022 offered at University Departments, University Colleges of Engineering, Regional Campuses of Anna University, Annamalai University, Government and Government Aided Colleges (Engineering, Arts & Science Colleges) and Self-financing Colleges (Engineering, Arts & Science Colleges including stand-alone Institutions) in Tamil Nadu can be registered only through Online. Some Universities and Self-Financing Engineering Colleges may also opt to admit the candidates on the basis of score obtained in TANCET 2021. Other State candidates can appear for the entrance test, but the eligibility conditions will be stipulated by the admitting authority / University.

Anna University will conduct the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) 2021 on March 20 and 21, 2021. Candidates seeking admission to the postgraduate courses can apply on the official website, i.e., tancet.annauniv.edu. As per the schedule, the application process for TANCET 2021 will begin on January 19 and will conclude on February 12.

After the TANCET 2021 registration window will open, the candidates can apply for the entrance test for admissions to postgraduate degree programmes including MBA, MCA and ME, MTech, MArch, and MPlan.

The Bachelor’s degree can be from any discipline (Engineering/ Science/ Social Studies/ Arts/ Commerce/ Communication/ Management/ or Media).

Foreign nationals and NRIs with non-Indian degrees that are considered equivalent (by UGC/AIU/AICTE) to the qualifications listed with GRE above are also eligible to apply for the programme.

Admission Procedure:

Stage 1: Telephone interviews of eligible candidates.

Stage 2: The Shortlisted candidates appear for MICA’s FPM Admission Test. The FPM Admission Test is a three-day process organised on the MICA campus, comprising of the Written Test (WT), an Individual Presentation (IP) and a Personal Interview (PI).

Candidates appearing for the admission test will be provided lodging and boarding at the MICA campus.

Financial Support:  All students (except sponsored students) admitted to the Programme will be given a fellowship and contingency allowance. Fellowship includes fee waiver and a monthly stipend. The stipend for the first 2 years is Rs.27,500 per month and that of 3rd and 4th year is Rs.29,700 and Rs.33,000, respectively. In addition to the stipend, a contingency grant of Rs. 15,000 in the first year and Rs. 30,000 in each of the second and third years will be available to the students for academic expenses like case material, books, travel, data collection expenses, thesis expenses etc. Students will be permitted to carry over surpluses to the following years.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar, an Institute of National Importance, is inviting applications for its MSc in Cognitive Science. The discipline of Cognitive Science is a steadily growing interdisciplinary field consisting of philosophy, psychology, computer science, neuroscience, and Artificial Intelligence.

Admission to MSc Cognitive Sciences is offered on the basis of entrance test and interview. The Institute will invite a limited number of candidates for a written test and interview based on the academic records and aptitude for cognitive science. The written test will consist of comprehension type questions based on given passages, and statistical aptitude. There is no prescribed syllabus of any subject for the written test. The final selection will be based on all of above, viz., academic records, aptitude for cognitive science, written test and interview. The Institute may also exercise the option of offering admission to a few outstanding candidates based on academic records without calling them for written test and/or interview.

Test and interview will be held online. The interview will primarily test your aptitude for Cognitive science and your understanding of subjects studied at undergraduate level.

Minimum Eligibility Criteria

Students who have a Bachelor’s degree (e.g. B.A., B.Sc., B.Tech, BCom, MBBS) in any discipline with a minimum of 55% (5.5 CGPA for students with letter grades/CGPA) aggregate marks for General/OBC category candidates and at least 50% (5.0 CGPA for students with letter grades/CGPA) aggregate marks for SC, ST and PD category candidates in the qualifying degree, are eligible to apply for admission to the Master’s program in Cognitive Science. Students who would be completing Bachelor’s degree in the academic year 2020-2021 are also eligible to apply.

The short-listing of the applications is based on the overall credentials (Marks in the qualifying examinations, academic achievements and aptitude for cognitive science. The eligibility criteria mentioned above is minimum. The committee may use higher cut-off levels for shortlisting.

Application Procedure

All applications must be submitted online. You NEED NOT send the hard copy of the application form. However, you need to furnish hardcopy of the application form with photograph and all the documentary evidence in original (testimonials, certificates, publications, work experience and research/professional experience) at the time of interview.  JEE Advanced will be conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur on July 3.

Earlier, the education minister announced to offer JEE Main 2021 in more regional languages apart from the existing Gujarati, Hindi and English languages, aspirants who are proficient in their native tongue may stand a fair chance of gaining admission to the NITs, IIITs and the centrally funded technical institutes in the country.

This year the IIT aspirants will get four attempts to qualify for the JEE Main 2021 examination. The first session of JEE Main 2021 will be conducted from February 23 to 26. Merit list will be released by the National Testing Agency (NTA) at the end of the fourth session in May.

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), a national level entrance exam for admissions to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law programmes, has been rescheduled to June to avoid clash with CBSE class X, XII board examinations.

The entrance examination that was scheduled to be held in May has been rescheduled to June. According to the latest schedule, the law entrance examination will be conducted on June 13. Earlier, the exam was supposed to be held on May 9

IIM Bodh Gaya has announced to offer five years integrated programme in management (IPM) from the upcoming academic session.

The curriculum of this programme would offer experiential learning, international immersion and a holistic course curriculum. The objective of the programme is to prepare candidates from a foundation level for taking up leadership positions in corporates/government organisations.

“The IPM program is intended to make students to have a global perspective towards management practice. With an early induction to the programme and a rigorous and holistic curriculum, students will demonstrate problem solving skills supported by appropriate analytical techniques and will use ethical and socially conscious judgement while analysing business situations,” read a statement issued by the Institute.

Candidates successfully completing the course, would be awarded Bachelor of Business Management and Master of Business Administration by IIM Bodh Gaya. Candidates opting for exit after completing the requirement of first three years, would be awarded Bachelor of Business Management. 

Qualifying Exam: Candidates should have passed 10+2/XII/HSC examination in arts/commerce/science stream or equivalent with 60% (55% for candidates from SC/ST/PwD) or more in the year 2019, 2020 or appearing in 2021. The candidate must have passed class 10th examination with 60% (55% for candidates from SC/ST/PwD) or more in the year not before 2017.

The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in 10th and 12th standard would be calculated based on the Board’s regulation. If there is no such regulation regarding aggregate marks from the concerned board, then the aggregate marks of all the subjects that appear in the grade sheet should be considered for calculating the passing percentage.

Maharashtra SSC HSC Exam 2021

As per an official statement issued on Twitter by Varsha Gaikwad, the Maharashtra Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exams 2021 will be conducted post April 15 and the Senior Secondary Certificate (SSC) exams 2021 will be conducted after May 1.

The schools in many cities of Maharashtra have started to reopen for classes 10 and 12. The schools are only being reopened for higher classes to resume classroom studies as the board exams for this academic session are nearing.

We are considering holding HSC exams after April 15 and SSC exams after May 1. State is consulting health officials on the possibility of reopening schools for standard 5th to 8th. A decision will soon be taken.

The board exams are usually held in February and March. However there was a delay owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nadav Shoham Robotraffic Competition 2021

Technion - Israel Institute of Technology has announced the 11th edition of the Robotraffic Competition to be conducted by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. The competition will be held virtually between March 14–18, 2021.

The Nadav Shoham Robotraffic Competition was created to give students a hands-on experience in providing high-tech solutions to challenges. The main challenge of this competition is to build an autonomous robotic car model that can move according to the traffic rules, obey traffic lights and signs, signals, and keep a safe distance from other cars.

Robotraffic Competition is open to Indian school students for classes X and XII. Students can participate in teams of 1-8 and can be advised by a teacher, although the construction must be solely done by the students. The categories of the competition include careful driving, racing, reverse parking, traffic safety initiatives and 3D CAD.

The first-place winner in the careful driving category will receive a one-year scholarship to Technion.

The competition aims to develop sensors and systems to be implemented in the industry to reduce the number of car accidents, expose students to the high tech multi-disciplinary area of robots and sensors and build team-work capabilities among them.

 Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has invited online applications for the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy examination (I) 2021 on its official website.

Candidates can apply for the examinations online on or before January 19, 2021 until 6 pm. The online applications can be withdrawn from January 27 to February 2, 2021 till 6 pm.

UPSC will conduct the examination on April 18, 2021 for admission to the Army, Navy and Air Force wings of the NDA for the 147th Course, and for the 109th Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC) commencing from January 2, 2022.

Eligibility:

1. Army Wing of National Defence Academy: Class XII pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University.

2. Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy: Class XII pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics conducted by a State Education Board or a University.

Candidates appearing in class XII under the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination can also apply for this examination. Those appearing in class XI exam are not eligible.

Candidates who are willing to apply can submit their online application form on the official website of the Consortium of National Law Universities -- consortiumofnlus.ac.in.

The application window will be open till March 31, 2021, and the CLAT 2021 exam has been scheduled to be held on May 9, from 3 pm to 5 pm, at test centres across the country.

CLAT is conducted for admission to five-year integrated LLB and LLM courses at participating institutions.

Students who have appeared for Class 12 final examinations in 2020 or will appear for the board examinations in 2021 are eligible to apply for the law entrance test.

Candidates who apply for CLAT must have a minimum score of 45 percent marks or its equivalent grade in the qualifying examination.
For candidates belonging to the SC and ST group must have a minimum score of 40 percent.

Candidates are needed to have an LLB degree with at least 50 percent marks or equivalent grade for LLM admission through CLAT 2021 PG.
Candidates from the reserved category will be granted a relaxation of 5 percent relaxation.

CLAT 2021 application fee is Rs 4,000 for open category candidates. For SC, ST, OBC, and BPL candidates, the application fee is RS 3,500. A total of 22 National Law Universities (NLUs) consider CLAT score for admission to BA LLB, BSc LLB, BBA LLB, B Com LLB, BSW LLB, and LLM programmes.

NLUs offer 2,538 seats in the LLB course and 742 seats in the LLM course.
