XLRI MS in Positive Organization Development and Change

The Master of Science Program in Positive Organization Development and Change (or MPOD), pioneered by the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland, USA), is now being offered for the first time in India in partnership with XLRI Jamshedpur. It is specifically geared toward the needs of executives and change agents from around the world who face a torrent of continual change, increasing complexity, and growing interconnectedness in multicultural contexts; and who must respond to these challenges in ways that yield economic value for their organizations while upholding standards of environmental and social responsibility.

To enable busy executives to attend this program MPOD will be conducted in 6 modules spread over 15 months. The modules will be conveniently spaced 10 to 12 weeks apart-thereby making the program flexible.

ICSI New Syllabus for CS Foundation Programme

The Institute of Company Secretaries of India-ICSI has launched a new syllabus for the CS Foundation Programme. Under the new syllabus,optical marks recognition (OMR)-based examination will be conducted for the foundation programme. Students are eligible to appear for the examination on the basis of self-study. The requirement of Coaching Completion Certificate has been discontinued for foundation programme students.

The new syllabus has been effective from February 1 and the examination under the new syllabus will be held from December session of CS examination.

Virtual Laboratories Launched by HRD Ministry

Human Resource Development Ministry Government of India launched a series of virtual laboratories that will aid studies in nine disciplines to provide easily accessible and high-quality science and engineering education through information and communication tools

The 91 virtual laboratories will enable hundreds of experiments in nine disciplines of science and engineering.

This project is part of the ministry's National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT).

The primary focus of the labs is to provide graduate and undergraduate college and university students with the ability to perform their required laboratory experiments using only a standard computer and an Internet connection.

USIEF Fulbright-Nehru Visiting Lecturer Fellowships 2012

The visiting lecturer fellowships for four months are designed for Indian faculty, researchers and professionals. Applications from all disciplines will be considered. Priority fields are: Agricultural Sciences; Economics; Education; Energy, Sustainable Development and Climate Change; Environment; International Relations; Management and Leadership Development; Media and Communications with focus on Public Service Broadcasting; Public Administration; Public Health; Science and Technology; Study of India with focus on contemporary issues; and Study of the United States. For Study of India or the Study of the United States (American Studies) the areas could include: language and literature, history, government, economics, society and culture, religion, and film studies.

The recipient will be affiliated as a visiting scholar at a US college, university or research institution, and will teach courses (individually or team-teach), or offer a series of seminars at the US host institution.

The fellowships provide round-trip economy class air travel from India to the US, a monthly stipend, Accident and Sickness Program for Exchanges per US Government guidelines, modest settling in allowance and a professional allowance. No allowance or travel is provided for dependents and the stipend provided under the grant is not sufficient to support family members. Scholars with accompanying dependents must have adequate personal funds to support their stay in the US.

USIEF Fulbright Teacher Exchange Program 2012

The Fulbright Teacher Exchange Program will provide opportunities to up to eight Indian secondary school teachers (6th to 12th grades) of English, Mathematics, or Science to participate in direct exchange of positions with US teachers for the semester beginning August/September 2013, pending availability of funds. Indian teachers selected for this exchange will have the opportunity to work within a US school system and experience US society and culture. Similarly, US teachers will work in an Indian school and share their expertise. The exchange will benefit both the Indian and US teachers and their students, schools and communities.

The grant will provide a monthly stipend, round-trip economy class air travel, modest settling-in and material allowance, and accident and sickness coverage per US Government guidelines.

SBI Education Loans Cheaper by 1 Percent

State Bank of India (SBI) plans to cut interest rates on education loans by up to 100 basis points-1% from Monday 20-02-2012.

Accordingly, for a loan of Rs 4 lakh, interest rate will be down by 25 bps to 11.75 per cent; for loans in the Rs 4-7.5 lakh range, the rate is down 100 bps to 12.50 per cent, while for loans above Rs 7.5 lakh, the rate is lower by 25 bps to 12.25 per cent.

State Bank of India-SBI is also offering a concession of 50 bps on interest rates for loans given to female students.

The government plans to have a central fund into which all banks will contribute from their earnings out of education loans. This fund will, in turn, provide guarantees to education loans. SBI's outstanding education loan portfolio grew 14% to Rs 12,402 crore from Rs 10,883 crore.

IIFM M.Phil Natural Resource Management 2012

The EPGP is an intensive one year residential programme exemplifying the academic rigour and progressive thinking at IIM, Indore. Candidates seeking admission to the one-year EPGP programme of IIM-Indore (2012-13 batch) either have to appear in the Common Admission Test (CAT 2011) or submit their GMAT score. In order to provide opportunities to teachers and others to obtain training and for carrying out science education projects, this Centre is offering a post graduate diploma programme in science education-PGDSE. Aspects covered in the programme are : courses related to subject content, laboratory experiments, research experience and education technology. The training will be provided through projects and formal courses. The programme is foe two semesters beginning 1 August 2012. A stipend of Rs. 10.000/- per month will be paid to those selected for the programme.
