The British council, UK's international organisation for educational and cultural relations, is inviting applications for the British Council IELTS Scholarship Award 2014. The scholarship caters to students applying to International universities in 2014, which accepts the International English Language Testing Systems- IELTS as admission criteria. Eight winners will receive an award of Rs. 3,00,000 each towards the tuition fees.

The Institute of Mathematical Sciences- IMSc announces admission to Ph.D. programme in Computational Biology for year 2014

The programme is under the Life Sciences board of the Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), of which IMSc is a constituent institution. Before embarking on their research, students have three semesters of coursework, which consists of seven core courses, to be carried out at IMSc; elective courses, which may be taken at IMSc or at other institutions by mutual consent; and lab rotations, at collaborating labs in other institutions. The core coursework covers essentials of modern biology, essential techniques from physics, mathematics, statistics and computer science, physics of proteins and biomolecules, biological sequence analysis and algorithms, and systems biology. Elective coursework covers various topics in greater depth. Following the coursework and a comprehensive examination, students will embark on research leading to a Ph.D. degree awarded by HBNI.

Eligibility: Students with a masters degree in any field of science or engineering, who have strong mathematical skills and an interest in biology. Students should apply with the results of one or more of the following national tests:

USIEF TEA Programme 2015

United States-India Educational Foundation- USIEF Teaching Excellence and Achievement- TEA 2015

The USIEF Teaching Excellence and Achievement (TEA) Program provides international teachers with unique opportunities to develop expertise in their subject areas, enhance their teaching skills, and increase their knowledge about the United States. TEA consists of a six-week non-degree, non-credit customized academic program including seminars on new teaching methodologies, curriculum development, lesson planning, and instructional technology. Participants will also participate in a practicum in a US secondary school near their host university to work closely with US teachers and teach and present to US students. Cultural enrichment, mentoring, and support will be provided throughout the program. The international participants will travel to the United States in two cohorts of approximately 75 teachers each in spring or fall 2015.


Upon returning home, TEA program alumni are eligible to apply for small grants for essential teaching materials, follow-on training for other teachers, collaborative projects between schools in their home country and the United States, and other activities that build on their US experience.

Eligibility :

* Be a full-time school teacher (6th to 12th grades) in a school that serves a primarily local (not expatriate) population;

* Have five or more years of classroom experience in TEA teaching disciplines: English, EFL, Social Studies, Mathematics, Science, or special education

* Be citizens of India and be qualified to hold a valid Indian passport;

* Live and teach in Chandigarh, Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh;

* Hold a Bachelor’s degree in the teaching subject with a teacher training degree;

* Be present in India at the time of submitting the application and for the interview;

* Obtain a minimum score of 450 on paper based TOEFL or equivalent English language examination*;

* Demonstrate a commitment to continue teaching after completion of the program; and

* Have submitted a complete application.

Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS) invites applications for admission to B. Pharmacy (Hons.) Programme at Pilani and Hyderabad Campuses for 2014 session through BITSAT-2014

BITS B.Pharm.(Hons.) programme has been structured to match and exceed the requirements of the Pharmacy Council of India. The programme offers students additional courses which give the shape and flavour of engineering as well as fundamental sciences giving an added dimension to the student’s academics.


Eligibility

12th class examination of 10+2 system from a recognized Central or State board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Biology in 12th. However candidates with PCM may also apply for Pharmacy program. The candidate should have obtained a minimum of 75% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics subjects in 12th class examination, with at least 60% marks in each of the Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Mathematics subjects and adequate proficiency in English.

Admissions will be made only on his/her merit position based on the score obtained in BITSAT-2014.

NMIMS Enterprise Training Program for Women- ETW

The ETW Program is one of its kind in India. The program has been adapted from a reputed program offered by the University of Stirling, Scotland, which has met with remarkable success in Scotland and other parts of Europe over the years.

The NMIMS program ETW looks at all these issues from the woman’s point-of-view. It also provides women with the opportunity to interact with other women, share their concerns, and find out how other women are handling the same concerns. Participants get opportunities to meet with role models: women-entrepreneurs, many of whom are alumni of the same program and are now running successful businesses. A peek into their route to progress helps contribute to the participant’s self-confidence much more than a mixed program would ever succeed in doing.

Eligibility : The participants should be in a position to devote at least 15 hours a week to the program, including 3 hours a day, 4 days a week in the classroom. The program targets middle-income women with at least twelve years of formal schooling, who should be comfortable in written and spoken English.
