Himachal Pradesh State - Combined Management Aptitude Test (HP- CMAT) 2008
HP-CMAT is a common entrance test for admission to Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme for all the universities/Institutions affiliated to universities in Himachal Pradesh. In accordance with the UGC guidelines there shall be only one entrance test for all such Institutions.
The Government of Himachal Pradesh, Department of Technical Education has designated (MBA Deptt.) Institute of Management Studies, HP University Summerhill, Shimla-5, as the Nodal agency for conducting Entrance Test for MBA admission to all the Universities/ Institutions affiliated to universities in HP. The HP-CMAT 2008 will be basis for admission to the following
MBA Programme of IMS, HP University, Summerhill, Shimla.
MBA (Agribusiness) programme of Dr. YS Parmar University, Nauni, Solan.
MBA Programme of other Private Institutions affiliated to HP University.

Eligibility
Any first bachelor's degree of a university, established by law in India, at least with 50% marks(45% maks in the case of Scheduled Cast/ Scheduled Tribe candidate). The students who are appearing for their final bachelor degree examination in 2008 shall be allowed to appear in H.P. State Combined Management Aptitude Test (HPCMAT), but their final admission is subject to their satisfying the above said eligibility condition.
How to Apply for HPCMAT 2008
The application form along with prospectus can be obtained either from the institute’s cash counter by depositing Rs.400/- (Subsidized) & Rs.500/- (Subsidized & non-Subsidized) (Rs. 250/- & 350/- for SC/ST candidates) or by post by sending a Demand Draft for Rs.450/- (Subsidized) & Rs.550/- (Subsidized & non-Subsidized) (Rs.300/- & Rs.400/- for SC/ST candidates) in favour of “Director, IMS HP University”, payable at Shimla.
Admission Process
The admission is based on Entrance exam which comprises of applications ratings, Management Aptitude Test (objective type having multiple choice Questions), group discussion and personal interview.
HP-CMAT 2008 will be of objective type having Multiple Choice Questions. The HP-CMAT will have four sections of English Comprehension, Reasoning, Business Environment and Arithmetic Comprehension & Data Interpretation, Each section will have about fifty (50) questions.
The performance in HP-CMAT is the basis for screening the candidates for group discussion and personal interview. Normally, three candidates for each seat are called for group discussion and personal interview.
The performance in the Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview and application rating will be the criterion for admitting the students. The candidates for NRI/NRI Sponsored / Foreign National / Self-Financing Seats compete among themselves, so is the case with the subsidized seats.
