Courses/Exams: I. M. Tech Programmes (Full – Time / Four Semesters):

Energy Engineering, Plant Design, Process Control & Instrumentation, Transportation Engg. & Management, Structural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Computer Science, Power Systems, Power Electronics, Communication Systems, VLSI Systems, Thermal Power Engineering, Industrial Safety Engg., Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Engineering, Non Destructive Testing

II. M.S. (By Research) Programme (Full-Time and Part-Time): All Engineering departments.

III. M.SC. Programmes (Full – Time) (Four Semesters):

Applied Chemistry, Operations Research and Computer Applications, Applied Physics

IV. Ph.D. Programme (Full – time and Part-time)


Eligibility: For M.Tech: A pass in Eligible Degree (B.E. / B.Tech / Equivalent ) ; Candidates in the final Semester of the qualifying degree programme are eligible to apply.

For M.S. (By Research):

Bachelor’s Degree in appropriate branch of engineering. A pass in the qualifying examination. Candidates in the final Semester of the qualifying degree programme are eligible to apply.

For M.Sc.:

Minimum of 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA in the qualifying examination, for General category and mere pass for SC/ST candidates. Candidates in the final semester of the qualifying degree programme are eligible to apply.

For Ph.D.:

Candidates with first class or minimum 60% marks (CGPA 6.5 in a scale of 10) in UG or PG are eligible for admission under General Category. For SC / ST candidates, a pass in UG and PG is sufficient.


Application procedure: Candidates can down load the application form and details from our website www.nitt.edu. Downloaded and filled up applications should be accompanied by prescribed application cum Registration fee of Rs.300/- (Rs.100/- for SC/ST/Persons with Disabilities) by means of Demand Draft drawn not earlier than 6th April 2009 and in favour of “DIRECTOR, NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, TIRUCHIRAPPALLI – 620015” payable at State Bank of India, NIT Branch (Code 1617) Tiruchirappalli.

The candidates are requested to write their name and the Department to which they are applying on the reverse side of the draft. The application forms, with necessary enclosures, should reach the Dean (Academic), National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli-620 015 by May 11, 2009.
