K.C Mahindra Scholarships for Post-Graduate Studies Abroad 2011

The K. C. Mahindra Education Trust was founded by the late Mr. K. C. Mahindra in the year 1953, with an objective of promoting literacy and higher learning in the country. It is registered as a public Charitable Trust under the Bombay Public Trusts Act, 1950

The trustees of K.C. Mahindra Education Trust offer interest-free loan scholarships to Indian nationals for post-graduate studies abroad in various fields. Applications are invited for the K.C. Mahindra Scholarships for Post-Graduate Studies Abroad for the year 2011.

The Trust has introduced new scholarships worth Rs.24 Lacs for 3 top K.C. Mahindra Fellows. The maximum amount for this scholarship will be Rs.8 lacs per student and minimum amount will be Rs.5 lacs per student. For the rest of the students the maximum amount for scholarship will be Rs.95,000

Applicants for these scholarships are required to satisfy the following conditions :

They must possess a First Class degree or an equivalent diploma of the same standard from a recognized Indian university.
They must have secured admission or have applied for admission in reputable foreign universities for courses commencing from September, 2011 but not later than February, 2012.

Candidates studying in the Final Year of the degree or diploma courses are also eligible to apply provided they produce their final year certificate before end June, 2011.

National Council of Science Museums (NCSM) is the largest network of science centres/museums under a single administrative umbrella in the world. 27 science centers/museums of NCSM located in different sites in India have a total floor area of 155043 sq mtrs. and have been visited by around 7 million people during 2008-09.

Continuous upgrade of display materials and technology happens in the Council as a part of its R&D activity.

National Council of Science Museums-NCSM, an autonomous scientific & research organization under the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, engaged in popularization of Science & Technology among the people at large, intends to offer Post Graduate Fellowships(10) for a period of two years commencing from July, 2011

The selected Fellows will undergo full time four Semester Master of Science (M.S) Course in Science Communication being conducted by the Council in collaboration with the Birla Institute of Technology & Science(BITS), Pilani on an off-campus mode. The lectures and tutorials would be held at National Council of Science Museums, Kolkata.

Essential Qualification:
i)1st Class Bachelor degree in Engineering or Technology in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Information Technology/Telecommucation/Computer/Metallurgy/Chemical/Production Engineering
OR
ii)1st Class M.Sc. degree in Physics/Chemistry/Zoology/Botany/Biotechnology /Environmental Science.

Fellowship: Rs.8,000/- per month for two years with contingency grant of Rs.8,000/- per annum.

USIEF ILEP Programme 2011

The International Leaders in Education Program (ILEP) provides international teachers with unique opportunities to develop expertise in their subject areas, enhance their teaching skills and increase their knowledge about the United States. ILEP consists of a semester-long non-degree, non-credit academic program at a U.S. University including course work in teaching methodologies, lesson planning, teaching strategies for the home classroom environment, teacher leadership and the use of computers for internet, word processing and tools for teaching. ILEP will commence in January 2012 and conclude in May 2012 and will include an internship at a U.S. secondary school to engage participants with U.S. teachers and students.

ILEP program alumni are eligible to apply for small grants upon their return home. These grants can provide resources to conduct teacher training workshops or other activities that share the teacher’s experiences in the U.S. and contribute to the growth of their home education communities.

Eligibility-:
* Be current secondary-level, full-time teachers with five or more years of classroom experience in disciplines including:
English,Social Sciences (social studies, civics, history, economics or geography)
Mathematics; or Sciences

* Live and teach in the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Sikkim, Tripura, West Bengal and all Union Territories in Eastern India

* Be citizens of India and be present in India at the time of submitting the application and for the interview

* Have proficiency in written and spoken English with an iBT TOEFL score of 61 (500 paper-based) or higher.

USIEF is announce the the 2011 Teaching Excellence and Achievement (TEA) programme for secondary level school teachers, teaching English, social studies, Mathematics and science at schools in the states of Goa, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and all union territories in western India.

Indian Nursery Minimum Age Norms

The Directorate of Education (DoE) has cleared the confusion regarding the minimum age of children to be eligible for admission into nursery. According to a circular issued by the Directorate the minimum age limit for nursery admissions is three years.

According to the circular, all children admitted to preschool should be of minimum three years of age by March 31 of the year in which admission is being sought. The circular also said that the minimum age for pre-primary classes would remain unchanged at four years too.

CLAT 2011 Application Process

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is an all India entrance examination conducted by 11 National Law Universities for admissions to their under-graduate and post graduate degree programmes (LL.B & LL.M). The 11 participating NLUs in the order of their establishment are:

National Law School of India University, Bangalore (NLSIU).
NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad (NALSAR).
National Law Institute University, Bhopal (NLIU).
The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata (WBNUJS).
National Law University, Jodhpur(NLU).
Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur (HNLU).
Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar (GNLU).
Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow (RMLNLU).
Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Patiala (RGNUL).
Chanakya National Law University, Patna (CNLU).
National University of Advanced Legal Studies, Kochi (NUALS).
CLAT was conceptualized and implemented pursuant to a case filed at the Supreme Court of India highlighting the hardships of students who would have to appear for several separate entrance examinations. Prior to the case being decided, the Ministry of Human Resource Development brokered a settlement between the various law schools to conduct a common, all India entrance examination which was labeled as CLAT.

As per the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), the first CLAT Committee (consisting of Vice-Chancellors of the participating NLUs) decided that the test should be conducted by rotation in the order of their establishment. CLAT-2008 (NLSIU, Bangalore), CLAT-2009 (NALSAR, Hyderabad) and CLAT-2010 (NLIU, Bhopal) were conducted accordingly. CLAT 2011 is being conducted by The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata (WBNUJS).


THE UNDER-GRADUATE PROGRAMME OFFERED BY THE NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITIES
[5 year integrated BA/B.Sc*/B Psc**/ BBA^/ BCom^ LL.B (Hons) Degree Course]

Eligibility:

To be eligible to appear for CLAT-2011, a candidate should have passed his/her Higher Secondary School/Intermediate Examination (10+2) or its equivalent examination with not less than 50% marks in aggregate (45% in case of SC/ST/OBC and persons with Disability).~ Candidates who have appeared in the 10+2 examination and are awaiting results are also eligible to appear in the test.Age of candidate should not be more than 20 years in case of General/OBC candidates (22 years in case of SC/ST and persons with Disability)~ as on 1st July, 2011.

National Entrance Screening Test (NEST-2011) is a compulsory test for students seeking admission to National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar and University of Mumbai - Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CBS), Mumbai. Both NISER and UM-DAE CBS have been started by Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India in 2007. Their mandate is to train scientific manpower for carrying out cutting edge scientific research and for providing input to scientific programmes of Department of Atomic Energy and other applied science institutions in the country. The test is conducted in 34 centers across India.

Programmes in NISER through NEST 2011

NISER offers a 5 year integrated M.Sc. programme in Biological, Chemical, Mathematical and Physical sciences. Degrees at NISER will be awarded by the Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), a deemed-to-be University within the Department of Atomic Energy.
There are 60 seats this year, including reserved seats for SC/ST/OBC candidates and persons with disability (PD) as per Government norms. Further details are available on the NISER website (http://niser.ac.in).
Programmes in UM DAE CBS- Admission through NEST 2011

The Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, has an autonomous Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences in Mumbai. CBS offers a 5 year integrated M.Sc. programme in Biological, Chemical, Mathematical and Physical sciences. The degrees at CBS are awarded by the 150-year old University of Mumbai.
Tentatively, there are 35 seats this year with reservations as per government norms, including reservation for persons with disability (PD). Further details including maximum number of seats in any stream and allotment procedure are on the CBS website (http://www.cbs.ac.in).
Eligibility criteria for appearing NEST

Students securing at least 60% marks in aggregate (or equivalent grade) in Class XII (or equivalent) examination from any recognized Board in India are eligible to apply. For Scheduled Cast (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) candidates and for Persons with Disability (PD), the minimum requirement is 55%. Students who have passed the Class XII qualifying examination in 2009 or 2010 or are appearing in 2011 are eligible to apply. (Where only Letter grade is given by the Board, a certificate from the Board specifying equivalent percentage marks will be required. In the absence of such a certificate the decision of the respective Admission Committees will be final.)

JOINT ENTRANCE TEST FOR AGRI BUSINESS MANAGEMENT, 2011 (JET - ABM, 2011)

The three national institutions under the Ministry of Agriculture will conduct a Joint Entrance Test - Agri Business Management (JET - ABM) on Sunday, March 27, 2011 for selection of candidates to their respective Post-Graduate Programmes in Agri Business Management recognized by AICTE.


(i) National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), Rajendranagar, Hyderabad - 500 030 - PGDM(ABM)
(ii)Chaudhary Charan Singh National Institute of Agricultural Marketing (CCS-NIAM), Bambala, Kota Road, Jaipur-302 033 - PGDM(ABM) and
(iii)National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM), Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad-500407-PGDMA


Candidates will be short-listed for further steps in selection process based on the JET-ABM. Detailed criteria for various parameters in the selection process will be published on respective institutions' websites and brochures. Short-list of selected candidates to be called for group discussion, personal interview, presentation, paper writing etc., will be displayed on respective websites of three institutions.

Eligibility:
The minimum qualification for admission to the programmes is a FOUR YEAR bachelor's degree in any of the following subjects from any Agricultural University or Institution recognized by the ICAR/UGC: Agriculture; Agri-Business Management /Commercial Agriculture and Agri-Business Management/Agricultural Marketing and Cooperation; Agricultural Engineering; Agricultural Information Technology; Bioinformatics; Biotechnology; Dairy Technology; Energy and Environmental Engineering; Fisheries; Food Technology/Food Process Engineering; Forestry; Horticulture; Sericulture; Veterinary Science.

How To Apply:
The application form can be filled online at www.jetabm.gov.in. Alternatively application form for JET-ABM may be downloaded from the websites of respective institutions i.e., http://www.manage.gov.in, http://www.ccsniam.gov.in, http://www.naarm.ernet.in.

The application form and detailed instructions may also be obtained by post by sending a request along with an Indian Postal Order / Demand Draft of Rs.100/- to any of the three institutions. The envelope seeking requests for hard copies of applications must be marked "Application for JET-ABM, 2011".

The filled in application form along with a demand draft for Rs.1000/- (Rs.500/- for SC/ST candidates), drawn in favour of JET-ABM, payable at Hyderabad may be sent at: JET-ABM, 2011, Post Bag No.5, P.O. Rajendranagar, Hyderabad-500 030.
